"Harper rips Elections Canada over veil ruling"
buffycat replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Harper and some other so-called elected officials. Geez Betsy don't 'cha know it's all the rage to demonise all Muslims? Get with it! Good for Elections Canada for not bowing to the BS spewed out once again by the hypocrits who call themselves 'public servants'. Double speak right there mate! -
Gee Dancer - is the Washington Monthly a tinfoil production?! Maybe you better write in and inform them! Feel free to use the usual acerbic tone you use with everyone here and I'm sure you'll convince them! Afterall - insults and jabs are the way to go eh? Washington Monthly Maybe she simply forgot? You could of course ask politely for the link - but that wouldn't be any fun for you would it?

I'm somewhat surprised at the lack of coverage that these events have recieved here in good old NA. Especially in light of the outing of three provacatuers just recently in Montebello. It looks like the Aussie Police have been doing some rather nasty things - like inciting violence and attacking protesters!! All the while removing their identification badges (I guess that butcher, baker or candlestickmaker isn't to see which officer did the baton boogee eh?). Well, the security forces were promising riots and violence all week (but none was happening) so I guess they decided to kick start it all by themselves!! Otherwise how in the world could they justify the $$$$ spent for 'protection'!! Here's ABC's headline: Police accused of removing badges at APEC here's a pretty good blog post with embedded links: The Ostrahyun

Marketing the attack on Iran through the media

Thanks for that jdobbin! Very well edited - almost comical if it weren't so true. Every time I witness this blatent media spin I cannot help but think of Orwell. BTW - did you sign the petition? -

Marketing the attack on Iran through the media
buffycat replied to kuzadd's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I think you miss the point. I don't want to see Iran bombed - nor do I wish to see the US bombed. I also would love to see the bombing and killing in both Iraq (illegal) and Afghanistan (questionable) stopped. You on the other hand don't seem to have a problem with invading a soveriegn country illegally and blowing it up. Just as what has been done to Iraq - almost a million now dead and four million displaced!! Wow what a great turnover!!! Is that any clearer for you? And furthermore - why in the world would you want to come to my door? What the heck is that - some kind of threat? -
Firstly, it isn't just May here in Canada saying that the opium poppy production wrt Afghanistan should be legalised - it's being spoken about the world over. It is also important to realise that there is currently a world wide shortage (especially in less developed nations) of opiate based painkillers, of which morphine is just one of many. Part of the problem is the monopoly that multinational pharmaceutical companies hold over all 'medicines'. Many of which can be easily replaced by 'home remedies' for most common problems - IF - we still held that kind of knowledge in any collective manner. There has been a huge loss in general herbal knowledge for well over a century now, and has drastically increased since the last three quarters of the 20th century. Prohibition of particular plants used by humans for millenia has led to this corporate monopoly of cartels. Even now, many pharma companies employ ethnobotanists in remote areas who study the use of plants etc, by indigenous peoples then of course patent the information and NOTHING is ever given back. These sorts of cures, treatments and preventatives are part of humanity's shared past - and they should NOT be allowed to be exploited in the way they are. Of course - the companies being what they are have NO interest in being morally responisble wrt the meds they churn out for incredible profits - the recalls and questions surrounding so many 'approved' meds illustrates this fact quite well. From pay-offs to outright fraudulent 'studies' the increase in prescription medication consumed by 'western' civilisation is mind-boggling. Just look at how many children are not drugged beyond recognition! It's really all about the money. But I digress... I wouldn't hold one's breath that either coca, opium, or cannabis for that matter will ever become legal again. There is far too much profit right across the board to keep it illegal - not to mention the lovely corruption that guarantees on almost all levels. If it were up to me I'd legalise it all - yep everything! Then educate people with the knowledge that has been lost. Jane Jacobs was right: We are in the beginning of another Dark Age.

Republican Senator Convicted
buffycat replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The senator forgot the one really important rule when dealing with the police: KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT He should have said nothing - nothing at all - outside of 'Call my lawyer'. -
Marketing the attack on Iran through the media
buffycat replied to kuzadd's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
So, you think it's just fine to invade a soveriegn nation which has NOT done a bloody thing to compromise your own state's security??? So, then I take it that you would think it's fine to perhaps blow up some of the US' nuclear sites? How about one of the hundreds of bases they have worldwide? Sickening. -
More lies from the Wiesenthal Center I see!! And of course they want MONEY!!! More money!!! Gee doesn't this group lump all Jews together - someone might want to tell Rue!! Oh and Scriblett - get your check book out!! Donate!! They need your $$$$!!! Bah!!

Anybody catch Christiane Amanpour's CNN mini-series?
buffycat replied to Higgly's topic in The Rest of the World
Rue - you are agruing semantics. It is you who has inferred that Higgly meant ALL Jews. Maybe he did, but somehow I think he was simply making a point - that many Jews in NA donate to Israel. And SO F****** what? Really? Honestly Rue - you really need to stop lumping all Jews in the world together in one generalized group!! Heck, you know the old saying two Jews = three opinions!! Do you freak out when Israeli newpapers lump all Jews together? How about when your hero Foxman lumps all Jews together? Oh - it's okay then huh? You are full of it - as I said before: YOU are the lumper dearest Rue. -
two words: hydrogen peroxide uh okay. I wonder how long it will take for the case against these idiots to fall apart - like SO many of the other cases of 'thwarted' terror attacks!! More booga booga!! It'd be funny if it weren't so sickening.
-
Rue, again I ask: Stop putting words in my mouth - words said only by you! Accusations that are unsubstantiated and outright lies. How many Israelis have been killed by Qassams in Sderot? How many? Do you even know? Yet, how many Palestinian civilians have been killed by various incursions into Gaza as well as the West Bank? How many children? There is a big difference between the qassams and the high tech 500 lb bombs dropped neatly from the f-16's so lovingly supplied by the US. Yet of course, you totally neglect that I did say "I do NOT condone the use of the qassams". No you don't bother to notice that do you? I think you are getting desperate Rue - you have to lie now in a vain attempt to discredit and slander me. Well Rue, before you blow another gasket you may actually want to look into the deaths of these five children - yes children - none of which were retrieving rocket launchers as you say - even the IDF admits as much. Sad that this co-lateral killing of innocent kids is so easily dismissed by you - you who pretends to be all 'equal' in your own judgements. What a load of horse hooey!! Of course, for you to even admit that some of Israel's policies are certainly racist and totally unethical to the nth degree, hell will have had to frozen over. Don't bother to respond to me if all you wish to do is hurl insults and personal attacks - oh never mind dear, that IS all that YOU can do.
-
Well Rue, reading your latest diatribe above, which is really only a puffed up personal attack, it seems the only one who is justifying killing children is YOU!! Thanks for showing your true colours. Man you are piece of work, blame the victim - nice one!! I recall a certain other group doing this years ago - no different. Again you may want to visit this site: B'TSelem Shalom.

Anybody catch Christiane Amanpour's CNN mini-series?
buffycat replied to Higgly's topic in The Rest of the World
How is it a racist statement? There are many Jews (and for that matter also Christian Zionists) in NA who contribute financially to Israel, that is simply a fact. Recall the Blue boxes? I do. They have their modern equivalents too. What's the problem? -
As usual you are so full of venom Rue. Check your cornflakes for some yellow liquid. As far as contributions from Diaspora Jews worldwide (not just NA) to various charities and such in Israel - this is well known and well practiced. Does the JNF ring a bell? As far as discourse in the US wrt the myriad of Israeli Lobby groups (Aipac being of course the largest and most well known) it is of course non-existant. Look to what has occurred to both Carter and Mearscheimer and Walt. Look at the many 'lectures' which have been cancelled. Look at things like 'Campus Watch'. Do these groups, who profess to speak for all Jews, serve a positive purpose? IMO - they simply add to the problem - along with the pit bull 'I'm outraged' Foxman - IMO these folk do far more harm than good. As usual you are spewing false assumptions and accusations around and are unable to back up your own assertions. No one here has said the IDF does it for fun - just you. No one says that all Israelis are evil either - just you. As far as I can tell both populations are constantly under 'fire' but it seems that one group is experiencing far more real casualites than the other - the numbers speak for themselves there Rue. As you can see at this site. Stop your nonsense and try to address the issues. Killing kids is never acceptable. Period.
-
Oh come on Rue, you know very well that a group of radical (Kach) settlers attempted to bomb a Palestinian girls school a few years back. They were arrested, they admit it freely and are proud of their actions - no different that the extremists on the Palestinian side. You can google can't you? If not: Google results

Marketing the attack on Iran through the media
buffycat replied to kuzadd's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Hey, it worked the first time!! It's working this time too!! I recently looked at some of the comments at the Globe and Mail wrt Iran bringing her centrifuge online. Half the posters seemed to think that Iran actually had a nookular weapon! The public is easy to fool into war... just tell they're being attacked then denounce those who speak out against it as traitors... Pardon for the paraphrase - I was a little too lazy to look up the exact quote - but I know you know what I mean - you know? -
Arabs Butcher Arabs in Darfur-Israel's fault, maybe?
buffycat replied to jbg's topic in The Rest of the World
jbg, maybe no one else has responded to this due to the nature of your opening line Here's an interesting tidbit for you and Scriblett to digest: and So, by your reasoning - maybe it's the Chinese eh? Anyway for those interested here's a link to the above piece as well as many more articles from various sources below. I think this conflict is vastly misunderstood. While I don't agree with the whole article which I cited above, I do think it raises some very good points - as it does attempt to put things into context. Too many op eds wrt Sudan and Darfur present the issues as coming from a vacuum - or simply blaming the 'Arabs' or 'Muslims' for all woes instead of looking at the 'thugs' behind the scenes - which is no different than those who do blame the Jews for everything - same $hit different day. There are alot of blind folk here who trumpet the blame the Arab approach and fail to see their utter hypocrisy. -
Anybody catch Christiane Amanpour's CNN mini-series?
buffycat replied to Higgly's topic in The Rest of the World
WTF is this crap Rue? Really? Stop talking for me as you never get it right. As far as I have ever seen here it is YOU that seems to lump all Jews in with Israelis - as though all Jews are utterly responsible for Israel's actions on a governmental level. It is you who does this - not from what I have seen here any of those posters who happen to be critical of some of Israel's policies wrt the Occupied Territories. No Rue - the lumper is YOU. WRT the series - I ended up finally watching the whole thing. It wasn't full of any surprises for me and by and large was pretty balanced for a mainstream production. The link between the Christian Zionists and Jewish Zionists is one which cannot be overlooked - as it stokes the fans of hate just as much as the Islamist extremist ideals. -
First off - while I certainly do not condone the Qassams (it does nothing for the cause of the Palestinians IMO) - Dancer are you implying that there were no Qassams fired prior to the beginning of school? How about today? Did those who fired them (unclear as to who exactly that is - a splinter group? a wing of Hamas? a wing of Fatah? someone else who just wants to hijack any kind of peace?) actually say these rockets were a 'back to school gift'? If so, a source would be nice. The quassam rockets are to be condemned, obviously, but let us all be thankful that NO ONE WAS KILLED. As opposed to the five children who were slaughtered by the IDF in one week alone. Comical? Actually collective punishment is a WAR CRIME. Also, Dancer there was electric power in many parts of the 'ME' before the creation of Israel. The polarisation around these issues serves no one - not the average Israeli, nor the Palestinians under Israeli military occupation. It feeds the beast of hate on both sides and your spin and misdirection simply adds to it. No one in their right heart and soul condones punishing the innocent - whether they be Israeli kids off to school or Palestinian children doing the same.

Greenhouse Warming? What Greenhouse Warming?
buffycat replied to sunsettommy's topic in The Rest of the World
Interesting site, thanks for the link. I'll take some time later and go through it more extensively. IMO the whole GW movement is a fabricated diversion, keeping our eyes and thoughts off of far more dangerous pollutants - which we CAN do something about. Heck, boys and girls if we can't predict the weekend weather with any real degree of accuracy how in the world does one expect to predict what the climate is going to do in 50 years or more? There are other reasons why we should be reducing our use of fossil fuels - not just the CO2 output (which is relatively minor wrt socalled greenhouse gases). When was the last time you heard anyone addressing the pollution of our freshwater resources? The toxins rampant in our food chain? Loss of arable lands? Creation of super bugs in hospitals? (The list is endless - but all we hear about is GW this and GW that and OPEN your wallet!!). -
Troops being sent to defend......Washington?
buffycat replied to kuzadd's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Well, with all the rumours circulating about another terruhist attack to occur in the US (nudge nudge, wink wink) I guess they are just readying themselves for the final showdown and end of all liberties in the USSA. Let's face it - 911 was a dream come true for the warmonger elite in the US to start their never ending war of Terrah - heck it worked SO well why not try it again? I can't believe that so many people are falling for the same old trick wrt Iran. -
Wow JB Globe, what a wonderful and thoughtful response. It was refreshing to read such a literate and well thought out reply on this thread. Thank you kindly.
