ANTIFA likely has not much knowledge of Polish history and how they were not just a hard luck case from WW2. While the odd Pole did join the SS, the vast majority fought on the Allied side...and huge numbers died in the fighting.

Not going for Moscow was a mistake but it's hard to say. The Germans found out there was still lots of fight left in the Russians during the winter of 41 and the farther the Germans got into Russia, the more stretched they became and the more troops were required for anti partisan duties to protect their supply lines. I don't know if they had the resources to win a fight to the death with Russia no matter what they did.

Indeed. The Russian rail system had good north-south coverage through Moscow....to Murmansk in the north and to the oil fields in the south...well behind the front. Different gauge than the German's system, as well. The German engineer battalions worked 24/7 changing/fixing the east-west Russian gauge to German but were still forced to rely on truck convoys...or....eeeep....wagon convoys. Especially in the Stalingrad campaign of the summer of 42.

Guderian complained bitterly at being directed towards Konotop in the rear of Army Group South's Kiev sector...even though it was Germany's greatest victory of WW2. He wanted to drive right through to Moscow in late September....before the mud.

It was always the women who got into fights when I worked for the government. There were always feuds and cattiness and rivalries, and it didn't matter if they were in their 20s or 50s. The men got along and did our jobs.

Ultimately, Mars is significantly lower gravity than Earth, so if some of the atrophy can be avoided by vigorous exercise and such, perhaps they can still pull off a Mars mission in the near future. A free return fly-by might also be a goal as a sort of test mission...but it might not be worth going all that way to Mars and not land...politically as well as realistically. 

Phobos would also be a likely target for a manned mission + base of some sort...a ready made space station. Very low gravity...practically dock with it rather than land. But there's still some...

Bringing gravity with you...so to speak...is the other obvious route. A rotating section that pulls a certain percentage of 1G....for example. Or power assisted suits for the crew to make-up for lost muscle.
