  1. I thought this was something the video makers just made up, but i guess not apparently: https://eric.ed.gov/?id=EJ1287233 https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ1287233.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwinsPucvN-HAxXKjYkEHfORCCYQFnoECBkQAw&usg=AOvVaw1-980ABr6gGprjRmXOrXf8
  2. 1. When does a "fetus" magically become a "baby"? Does the vaginal canal have a magic wand that bestows personhood on a fetus when it comes out? 2. What if some women are killing other individual humans because of the inconvenience of letting them live?
  3. Kamala is a black woman. That's all that matters apparently and why she was nominated as VP. Does anyone even know or care what her ideas are? Maybe its all just branding and marketing now. Politicians on the shelf next to Coca-Cola and Mr Clean. Read the ingredients or just buy based on the commercial?
  4. Maybe instead of focusing on how we can erode (or "defund") the police, maybe we should focus on and how we can make the police and other services better? Instead of focusing on how Canada is such a crappy colonial project with crappy parts of its history, maybe we should focus on the things we've done well and how we can make it better for everyone?
  5. Remember when we tried to treat everyone primarily as an individual human being instead of just their race or gender or sexual orientation etc? Good times those were. If we want to break people down into groups then those groups are going to fight for power and dominance.
  6. The side of the aisle that fought to eliminate the discrimination of Jim Crow is now defending the right to discriminate against whites and males. All this time I thought we were fighting against discrimination but that was wrong apparently, now its about "power" and any universal ethics is thrown out the window depending on the race or gender involved. Definitions are changed to suit political agendas. It's scary how manipulative some people are, yet we keep falling for it. You can't have a discussion on "what is a person?" when most of the population doesn't actually care and would change their answer immediately if the opposite suddenly benefited them more. And its not about "women's rights" in this case, it's about "my rights", they use "women's rights" to guilt men into compliance. The fact that more and more people are resisting this nonsense isn't surprising at all. They're pursuing a race and gender war and they're going to get it if they keep it up.
  7. We have these discussions, but i'm just giving my thoughts on the problems with these discussions. The problem is that they are inherently political because people are political (they want power and control), these discussions are not objective scholarly debates on ethics and constitutional theory. Even scholars now seem increasingly political, thanks to identity politics etc
  8. Most people don't care. People will define things as it suits them. Quebec defines "free speech" as it suits them. You can't fairly debate these things without empathy for the other side's position. But when things are emotional, that doesn't often happen. What's scary is that our courts will sometimes make decisions not based on the law, but on whatever suits their personal agenda/ideology. And people won't complain about that unless it goes against their own biases. Isn't it interesting how easily people will rally against democracy when it suits them? Judges are typically unelected and should not be lawmakers. If a judge interprets law based on their own biases then they're not doing it correctly, they're acting politically, which is not what courts and judges are designed to do. If politicians choose a judge based on their political leanings, what does that say about those politicians? You'd think we'd choose judges based on their ability to not have leanings at all.
  9. It's a conflict of rights. Right to life vs right to women's body control. Thus people disagree.
  10. Constitutions set out what is state/provincial rights vs federal, including who should control undelineated rights. These are essentially arbitrary and done through negotiation of the constitution between states/provinces when its written. At the end of the day, popular support for state vs federal rights is about power and control. Generally, people who favour abortion rights want the power and control to have those rights as widespread as possible, and the same goes for people who are against abortion. For most people, supporting a right being state vs federal will simply depend on what benefits their cause the most.
  11. I'm interested in discovering the motives of the shooter. Playing political team sports isn't very interesting to me, nor have I ever in my life supported any political party since they're generally all filled with terrible human beings. The occasional candidate can be an exception. So if I think Trump is a trash human being I'm automatically a Democrat? LOL. I do hope they win since as bad as the Democrats are they aren't Trump. Yes I agree some of the rhetoric on the Dem supporter side has been gross and even violent, and a lot of the media is just trash.
  12. I don't support the GOP or Democrats since they're crap parties so I don't care in any way whatsoever what party the shooter did or didn't support, nor would it even matter. Even if he were a GOP supporter, one nutjob who supports either party doesn't reflect in any way whatsoever on the rest of the people who support the party. Your source isn't MSN, it's WION which is an Indian news site so i'm not even going to bother to read it. MSN just linked it, and MSN doesn't care about anything but clicks. Daily Mail is a rag and even their article is filled with words like "likely". If you want to behave like a toddler and throw tantrums and insults please continue, you're only embarrassing yourself in front of everyone who reads this site, which will make them take your posts less seriously.
  13. You couldn't find worse sources, and they're speculative and unconfirmed.
  14. If you create political gains due to a terrorist attack you encourage more terrorism. This lesson on geopolitics brought to you by Moonlight Graham.
  15. No, that money is all going into their children's mortgage. Winner: developers, banks. 🤣 🤣 How many times your income did your house cost, including mortgage interest. Boomers will go down as the wealthiest generation in human history.
  16. No political gains should result from the Oct 7 attacks. This is a dangerous mistake, Trudeau gov is stupid and inciting more terrorism against Israel.
  17. I don't think others are inferior for serving larger or smaller chunks of meat. We all just use different tools which changes how meat is served.
  18. August you should create your own thread to post all your random thoughts in one thread.
  19. The GOP and Democrats are both corrupt trash parties. The Democrats are your run of the mill corrupt party while the GOP keep lowering the bar and have entered authoritarian territory akin to some third world government.
  20. Harris, 29 at the time, dated a man who was 60 years old, that man who was a longtime state legislator at the time, and he appointed her some positions while they dated. He then became mayor of San Fran where she then got a job at SF city hall and near the end of his run she was able to run for SF district attorney and win. I smell cronyism, and the relationship is pretty "suspicious".
  21. I never argued Trump attempted an "insurrection", that's a strawman. I said he attempted an illegal coup by he and his lawyers attempting electoral fraud via forgery of fake elector ballots and creating a fake slate of electors in several states they wanted to overturn, and Trump has been charged with such, along with his lawyers, including Giuliani. Trump also tried to convince his VP to along with it, who refused based on the unconstitutional illegality of it all, and then Trump publicly threw Pence under the bus for it calling him a "traitor". Trump is the traitor. Trump attempted an illegal coup and it failed and has been arrested and charged for it. Not all illegal coups are violent.
