No. Another reason is that i'm sure they would feel that a) its not worth their time arguing something considered settled. and it would give more public/media attention to the deniers, something they don't want.

Obama mad at General McChrystal
Moonlight Graham replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Ya i read that's what he was doing before this. Apparently not much order-taking in that job, and without the politics as you said -
I guess i'll have to watch that part again. I thought they just put the hammer his hand and he dropped it. I dont know if it makes it scarier if he's alive or dead. hmmm. Yup, definitely not as good as the original. I don't understand why they need to remake some of these classic flicks. What are some of your other favorite horror flicks? I love the original Halloween, the definitive slasher. I have a soft spot for the old 80's Friday the 13th movies, thought most of them aren't really that great. Blair Witch Project was excellent, saw it the night it opened knowing nothing about it but went along with some movie-buff friends of mine who heard about it. The 1st 2 Evil Dead movies are also classic. other fav's: Psycho Rosemary's Baby The Others The Lost Boys the old "Christopher Lee" Dracula flicks. and for some reason "One-Hour Photo" really scares me even though its not technically a horror movie. It's just very creepy and very realistic and plausible, which i think is what makes a movie truly scary. The only other movie i had to turn off mid-way for a break cuz it was just creeping me out.

Obama mad at General McChrystal
Moonlight Graham replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Why didn't he just resign this year or last year then? Why become an ass, disrespect the Prez and the admin, and make yourself look like a bad in the process? I think if he didn't like the policy he should have just resigned. Did he think he was going to change policy? -
Senior NDPer denies Israel's right to exist
Moonlight Graham replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
At the very beginning of the video she says that "Israel needs to remove all of its illegal settlements. They are basically all illegal". The rest of the video is more moderate views, with her sticking up the the BDS movement and calls for more public dialogue on the Israel-Palestine issue. I'm no expert on the Israel-Palestine issue, but the BDS movements seems fair and legit to me. It espouses non-violent means of protest, such as boycotting buying items that were made in Israel in areas within the Green Line. Here's what the BDS movement is, from their website. It has some international legal merit it seems: and this is interesting: -
Emerging powers see canada as a leader.
Moonlight Graham replied to PIK's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Wow didn't think we were quite that high. Though if you adjust for purchasing power parity, Canada drops to 14th. Still pretty good. I thought we'd be like around #20. Yes i agree, our economic performance during the recession has helped our rep. -
Fake Lake Debut Causes Barely a Ripple

It cost $57,000, not 2 million? Well thats good...but that still seems like a good chunk of dough for a wading pool and a display with some chairs. -
Michaelle Jean to join UN agency as special envoy
Moonlight Graham replied to Smallc's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
She is representing Canada, but in a position in UNESCO to help Haiti. She has some experience with Haiti since she lived there the first 10 years or so of her life, plus family links. There is probably some loyalty duality with her, its natural for someone to feel links to their original country (just look at Canadians during the World Cup). But in the end she will probably do some good work. -
Emerging powers see canada as a leader.
Moonlight Graham replied to PIK's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
ditto. When the sh*t hits the fan, real power is determined by military capabilities and "soft" power like the economy. Our military capabilities are pretty ho-hom compared to many other countries, and we are far from an economic powerhouse. Canada does have some political influence and is seen as a "moral leader", but that only goes so far. -
Earthquake in Toronto ?
Moonlight Graham replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Local Politics in Canada
I felt it in Ottawa, i lasted maybe 5 seconds from what i felt. I thought is was construction on the street outside or something but it lasted too long for that. My mom here in Ottawa said she was in the house and shook really good for like 30 seconds, freaked her out. There's a quarry near my place where they blast rock like once a week with TNT so this didn't really phase me, in fact i thought it was kinda cool. btw the radio said the centre of quake was apparently somewhere in Quebec not too far from Ottawa. Radio also said the news made CNN. Kinda pathetic for a ho-hum 5.0 quake. -
I'm sure most people have heard about this story already. McChrystal bashing Obama and his admin again in a recent Rolling Stone interview. If i were Obama, i would verbally tear into McChrystal behind closed doors and then fire him. Don't give him the dignity to "resign", boot his butt out the door and send a message for anyone else who wants to screw with the Commander In Chief . McChrystal is a General and yet has no respect for his superiors or the chain of command? He should learn a thing or two from Colin Powell, the consummate "good soldier"...unfortunately even to a fault.

Stop this stupid argument. Of course its sadistic. That's what makes it scary and awesome. Here's my comments on the other topic about Chainsaw: I disagree with Bloodyminded, i think the relative was dead, and they just kept them there cuz they were nuts and thought they were still alive. Well that's just what i thought. I also love the scene where one of the teens is hanging around the door to the Leatherface's house and Leatherface just suddenly barges the door open grabs the fool and goes back inside. And of course the scene with the big hook is awesome. Of all the crappy modern remakes of classic horror flicks, i actually though the new Texas flick was done fairly well. They kept to the original concept fairly well, even having John Laroquette voice the intro.
-
Another amazing villain is the Nazi hunter guy from Inglorious Basterds. He won the Oscar for Best supporting Actor last year, and totally deserved it. He was a total prick, but a real clever jerk too.
-
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is probably the scariest horror film ever. I'm a big horror fan, been watching them since i was a kid actually (don't know what my parents were thinking lol letting their 10 y/o kid rent any horror flick he wanted). First watched the movie when i was about 17 with a buddy of mine, about 3/4 the way through i had to shut it off, there was a part where the movie just got freaky with the Chainsaw family sitting at the table, feeding their dead relative blood or something, and a women victim watching all this and just screaming non-stop. I was just like "ok i gotta take a break, this is f'ed" lol. The movie is just so raw and minimalist, virtually no soundtrack/score. A classic.

Real Atrocities - Up to 2,000 dead in Kyrgyz clashes
Moonlight Graham replied to jbg's topic in The Rest of the World
Yes exactly. The ECOSOC and the Programmes and Funds of the UN along with specialized agencies operating with the UN do some admirable world in the overlooked corners of the world. Maybe the General Assembly will even have some kind of non-binding vote on this displaying its "moral leadership". But UNSC doesn't give much of a poop. Well maybe neighbouring China has some interest in the stability there. 2000 dead, and its likely higher and there will will likely be more killing to come. This is basically 9/11 for the Uzbeks in terms of death. 1 life is equal to another, but not in the power structures of the international community unfortunately. -
Unmitigated Slaugher in Congo - World Condemns Israel
Moonlight Graham replied to jbg's topic in The Rest of the World
It is also because this problem does not affect the West in major big way, beyond the morality of it. Many people, and virtually all states, do not care about things that don't affect them. And as we know well from Rwanda and Darfur, states have no interest in intervening in a situation that wouldn't benefit them. Killings are meaningless unless it affects our security as well. Maybe if more terrorist start taking up camp in Somalia and other African countries, our govs and people in general will actually start to give a fart about instability and war in the continent. -
Natives to win HST concessions from Ottawa
Moonlight Graham replied to charter.rights's topic in Local Politics in Canada
Yeah, i'm thinking the fact us whities completely decimated their race and ripped off much of their land and many of them now live in disgraceful poverty, giving them a bit of tax break won't kill the rest of us. That reminds me, my great-great grandmother was metis so i think i might go get my native status card. HA! -

Unmitigated Slaugher in Congo - World Condemns Israel
Moonlight Graham replied to jbg's topic in The Rest of the World
The death in the DRC is crazy. It's remarkably ignored in the mainstream media. A few articles from time to time in the newspapers, but it certainly hasn't received the attention as something like Darfur, Rwanda, and Somalia etc. Reuters says in an article from 2008 that the conflict up until that time had killed 5.4 million people, the most from any conflict since since World War II. Ballsack! -

You should hang around more women. In my experience, they are generally nicer than men. Also, they have boobies. Don';t know the details of your suffering, but stay strong bro. You seem like a good person. Humanity as a whole does suck, but there's so many nice individual peeps. -
