Everyone has a right in Canada to film the police while on duty. Know your rights. They can't tell you to turn your camera off, it's the only thing we have to protect ourselves. Many Canadian police, including Ottawa police, don't wear body cameras. In court it's their word against yours. Don't interact with police without your cell camera running. This includes during a traffic stop. Unless you're driving a car you don't have to give them your name, date of birth, where you live, show them your ID etc. unless you are being legally detained and they have reasonable grounds to suspect you have committed a crime. You can deny such a request. You don't have to answer any of their questions. During a traffic stop they have no authority to check inside your vehicle unless they have a warrant or you have committed some kind of crime that would warrant a car search. A cop may ask "is it ok if I look in your trunk?" etc. Do not consent, they want you to waive your rights. They need your consent to search without a warrant and without cause. Know your rights.

Ottawa police don't wear body cameras. Email Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, demand the police be given body cameras.

I guess conservative types can never protest in front of Parliament ever again without fears of Jan. 6 being invoked. My friend, who is Chinese and not even conservative, peacefully protested with his family on Parliament Hill. No violence, no threats, just Canadian flags.

This cop should be fired and sued. A citizen is allowed to film the police. The cop got in her face, not the other way around. This is why cops in Ottawa still don't have bodycams. Tyrants don't like to be filmed.

The police never tried to control it. They barely arrested anybody.

The cops have the right to arrest people breaking the law I agree. They don't have the right to trample random people on a horse. That's excessive force. That person wasn't under arrest and didn't resist arrest.

Social sciences and humanities can be corrupted by whomever. Subjective subjects. With climate change we've even seen science corrupted by politics.
