Obama has extensive political and work experience and a top notch world class education. Trudeau is a one time grade school drama teacher, I'm sure he's the savior for Canada.

STOP Corruption in Canada: A fresh wind from Quebec?
Peanutbutter replied to jacee's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Organized crime doesn't play games like politicians do and like we do. They will simply kill the person who is causing the problems or his family, simple as that. Being a rat is the worst thing that you can ever be. Something tells me they wouldn't take to kindly to it...hehehehe -

What is a "high risk group" as you put it? And what are they at a high risk of? -

SUN NEWS should be made more accessible
Peanutbutter replied to betsy's topic in Media and Broadcasting
So you're afraid that people may develop opinions that vary from those of the CBC? -
The CRTC is in the process of trying to remove Vision TV from the basic cable line up. They intend to change the terms of the license. VisionTV provides wholesome television for all ages. Programming that is healthy for the whole family to watch. This type of programming is at a premium as the amount of trash TV that has invaded nearly every channel today has nearly entirely taken over. I like watching the Colombo movie they play every Thursday. They play a bunch of other great programming options as well. Learn more about it here.

MightyAC, this all very inflammatory language you're using. Homosexuals aren't being denied these things in Canada and I don't hear PM Harper saying things like that. It would be outrageous and even his supporters would be up in arms I'm sure.

I see nothing wrong with home visits becoming part of the EI workers responsibilities. I'm sure a lot of people aren't actively looking for work and are just waiting for their benefits to nearly run out in order to start looking for work. I also think that seasonal workers who are going back to their jobs should be exempt from looking for further work. if we can cut off some people who aren't doing their part then all the better. EI is insurance and it should be run like an insurance company and insurance companies do there best to make sure they aren't being cheated. I say hooray!

Teachers, Democracy, and Social Justice
Peanutbutter replied to socialist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I don't think you have the intelligence to speak about those things you listed, no one does. What about social activists? Would they not raise their children with those lessons being taught or do they all not have children. -
Quebec language zealots strike again.
Peanutbutter replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
The Quebec nation seems to be off their rocker when it comes to language laws. They are overly strict in the use of them. Fanatical and zealotry certainly come to mind. -
By those standards then people who maybe shall never go on social service welfare should get that portion of their taxes back as well, right? Why stop there. What about who will never dial 9-1-1? Who take garbage to the dump themselves? To name a couple. We live in a social society so unless we're prepared to live in a banana republic and pay no taxes these are the rules. We pay so others can use the services and it's the mark of a civil society.

SUN NEWS should be made more accessible
Peanutbutter replied to betsy's topic in Media and Broadcasting
I think the more varying opinions the better equipped we are to form opinions. I don't see why people are so afraid for Sun news to have the same advantages as the other news sources. -
What do you call the minority ruling over the majority? Democracy?

Vancouver Coast Guard station closes
Peanutbutter replied to Wilber's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It may be worthwhile to instead of quickly screaming over burnt toast to trey to understand the reasons for the closure. Some people like to presume that some sort of conspiracy is at work whenever the Harper government does anything. Sometimes the government is just doing what it's supposed to do. Not every decision is some sort of scandal. -

Peanutbutter replied to Wilber's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hrm, I think that the province will know best is terms of what it needs for search and rescue etc. I'm not sure what level of discussion was made. I think the province and the federal government should've been in meetings together if they weren't. There is another base that is only 17 miles away and that seems rather close but I am no expert in this field and I doubt any people here are either. Seems like lots of inflammatory language on the anti closure side and that doesn't help anything. $700,000 a year to keep the base open doesn't seem like much to me. Will the next closest base in Richmond not work just as well? -

American Woman, the OP only posted one sentence which doesn't really constitute a worthwhile post. Thanks for posting an article, I'll read it now. First I've heard about this. -

Do you have any link to a story or anything of substance so we can discuss this? -
It does seems rather hypocritical to point out the same behavior by the Republicans and jump up and down about that but brush it off as "business as usual" when a Democrat does it.

German town goes off the grid with alternative energy.
Peanutbutter replied to kairos's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Do you suggest leaving the oil in the ground? What about other resources such as gold, silver, tin, copper, zinc, silicon? Should they not be extracted? -
It sure is. He was paid by various schools to speak. Schools are to be nonpartisan and are government funded. He is taking money away from students to line his own millionaire pockets. JT is taking money from schools and from non profits so he can speak there. Do a task that many MP's do for free. It's disgusting. So why does this man feel so entitled? It's clearly a conflict of interest. A member of government taking money. If this was a Tory it would be front page news coast to coast but since it's the wavy haired, nice looking Trudeau he gets a pass? He shouldn't. Justin Trudeau, a Prime Minister? I don't think so. You have some growing up to do first Justin.

Probably more helpful if you include your OS and the browser you're using in your post. For me with Win 7 and Chrome still have a little broken image box close to the post number.

It becomes our business when it's taxpayer money being used to pay the person to speak. Trudeau is taking money from non profits and from the education system itself which are taxpayer funded. An MP's job is to speak to the people, Trudeau is double dipping, plain and simple.

Does seem unfortunate that a husband and wife, for example, are unable to make two seperate accounts on this website. So are they meant to share one account? What's the precedent here?

Being disrespectful of someone isn't going to help foster good, productive conversation. If a certain groups beliefs aren't to your liking you don't have to associate with them. It isn't the law here in Canada that you must be Catholic. Some Islamic countries it is the law however, all others are often tortured or killed. We should be thankful that we are fortunate enough to live in a fairly free society where we're free to believe whatever we want. It would be better if the Catholic Church allowed t he use of condoms but it their interpretation of the scripture that makes the rules. The RCC cannot just make up whatever rules they wish, the rules they set in place must be grounded in scripture or it will not make any sense. So again, being disrespectful and name calling isn't going to help foster good , worthwhile debate.

Teachers, Democracy, and Social Justice
Peanutbutter replied to socialist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
This is hard to read without capitalized letters and proper punctuation. I thought the role of a teacher was to prepare children to think for themselves and make their own decisions. Instead you suggest that your role as a teacher will be to indoctrinate them to your particular political philosophy.
