  1. How about we give Canadian scientific community the opportunity to study and debate? There is still time for us to make intelligent, informed decisions and not follow the world on an emotional crusade.
  2. In marketing terms, what they've done is created a new sub-category called 'manmade global warming.' It's something that can be easily sold. It implies we are in control of climate. It even gives us a benchmark to measure our environmental performance against. When we do something to cut manmade CO2, there's an emotional reward. However, the reality is humans cannot control the larger category of global warming/cooling. CO2 may be one of the contributing variables, but it is not the controlling variable and manmade CO2, which represents a fraction of CO2 levels, definitely doesn't drive the bus. The most ironic thing in this debate is that skeptics have been branded as "deniers" though they believe in the science of global warming/cooling. For manmade global warming to exist as a category, there has to be a denial of global cooling. Do you think the small fraction of CO2 man contributes is going to stop global cooling?
  3. Mr. Klein 1) In hindsight, would you say electrical deregulation for Alberta was the right decision or a mistake? Why? 2) As a former Minister of Environment and Premier, what is your position on the politicized issue of manmade global warming?
  4. We could just give each cop a magic 8 ball. It's just as reliable, but cheaper. Will criminals ever register their guns? All signs point to NO.
  5. We don't hold youth murderers responsible for the consequences of their actions and you want to get tough on bullies?
  6. I'm sure he was angry and full of hate, but since he was no longer attending school he wasn't in a corner. With the killing occurring a week after Columbine, revenge was clearly the motivation. It wasn't done out of fear. But Todd did. He didn't know the people he shot. How would you feel if society treated me like crap, so out of anger I killed one of your family members who I didn't know to make a statement against society? Would you be on my side? If you're allowed to, you should volunteer your time to a charity. It would give you exposure to the good of society.
  7. Is it just me, or does this approach position Ignatieff as the epitome of arrogance?
  8. Agreed. You have to factor in paying people for little or no work.
  9. On the positive side, it's a multicultural porn site.
  10. The majority does want the current long gun registry scrapped. The majority (67%) doesn't want all gun registries scrapped. http://www.lufa.ca/news/news_item.asp?NewsID=6073
  11. The 67% figure is not related to the long gun registry.
  12. You can read their letter to Harper on their website. https://www.cacp.ca/media/news/download/692...erheadfinal.pdf Now why would they support it? Firstly, they don't pay for it. Secondly, they're trying to meet an unrealistic objective; not solve a problem. The reality is all gun owners, especially those who plan to use them unlawfully, aren't going to register their guns and that area of our gun control laws isn't targeted or effective. It's a little like MADD thinking that if you raise the drinking age, underaged kids won't drink, when they always have.
  13. What speaks volumes is when police speak out against such a useful tool: http://www.cdnshootingsports.org/what_poli...t_registry.html The only thing the registry has accomplished is to prove criminals don't register their long guns either. Who would have guessed that? Spending over $2 Million per registered long gun homicide on a registry is idiotic, especially because it can't be relied on by police and because it doesn't prevent homicides. That's a lot to pay for statistics.

  15. Harper's plan was the original Clean Air Act. That is still by far the most/only sensible plan and best for the economy. But that's another thread. As far as the Green Shift goes, Ignatieff has admitted it didn't work for the energy sector (Western Canada). So, his latest comments are a little flakey. Canadians are gullible and they do have short memories, so many will eat this up.
  16. That's quite a statement coming from a guy who campaigned for the Green Shaft.
  17. It will be interesting to see if Saturday Night Live and the other late night talk shows poke fun at him for making the comments.
  18. What an asshole. Seriously, that is a bit of a stretch.
  19. Do you consider Michaelle Jean to be a competent GG?
  20. I challenged your crackerjack analysis because it was flawed. This is a debate forum. What did you expect? I'm not eager to choose the best positions as MPs, but I do believe in choosing competent MPs as Cabinet Ministers. There is a difference.
  21. Yes you did. Then you attributed it to the Conservative Party of Canada. That's stereotyping.
  22. The only thing your list proves is that you stereotype. Every point is ridiculous. I guess that means: If you do not stereotype, you can't be a Liberal. If you do not write ridiculous posts, you can't be a Liberal. If you're not a grandmother with the hots for Ignatieff, you can't be a Liberal. etc.
