  1. There is a clear difference between Dion and Mulclair, Mulclair is Irish French and speaks English without an Irish or French Accent. I bet he would get a higher score on a Toefl test too.
  2. Rae Days were GOOD. We need Harper Days. With 10% cuts it would be much better to cut wages off the top by having "Graduated" retirement example as civil servants age transition them to parttime employment. Since the longer you work the higher the wage rate becomes having more unpaid days off the highest rate earners or highest salaries saves he most money rather than laying off or firing the non contract employees. With 10% departmental cuts ray days is a better viable soluion for the public service. fact is Rae saved the 2 billion dollars he needed to from the measure, and really people over the poverty line can do well for 1 long weekend a month. and an extra day for each year of service as unpaid leave to spend with family or have more time off. 1/3rd of that would be taxed anyway. $100 a month off should not ruin people, fact is his goal was to save jobs, and not cut the civil service and he did that by cutting work days instead of jobs - and only those who made more than 30,000$ a year lost that 100$ We needed the teachers and nurses etc... we are better because their skils wern't completely unutilized and the young people unable to find work as staff with seniority filled all positions in those fields. It would of at best resulted in brain drain. If I can live on a subsistence wage people earning a comfortable pubically paid salary can sacrifice 100$ every month off a $2500+/month salary The real issue in what he did was creating a solution rather than just cutting. I think the outcome was ideal... but all these governments are irresponsibe incuding harper.. deficit spending is not responsible. let the economy manage itself. Print money but don't borrow money that is what the US does and Canada doesn't need to. Get rid of taxes just print the money you need - if the dollar tanks raise prices -
  3. good stuff for my bro who has a kid on the way, he works making one of the parts for these things. my only gripe is, it is probably all US companies doing the work. So frustrating that all of canada's defence industry companies are US owned or subsidary.
  4. keystone xl was denied by the whitehouse today they really should just run the thing next to interstates set up microrefineries and gas stations along the way. Transcanada operates a massive gas pipeline in my backyard, there security seems lack as I've seen vandalism on their lines.. someone I beleive used a sledge hammer against some of their equipment (I did claim the sledgehammer though as it was clearly discarded and left for an extended period of time.. but what type of person would leave evidence or their prints on something related to the line being damged??) - sort of stupid but who throws a perfectly good sledgehammer into the woods?) and tossed it in the forest, however I think it was local miners who had claims in the area and their claim got cut in half by the pipeline... I could be wrong but other meters were tampered with in the area. I don't even think transcanada was aware their wires were spliced, they did fix what I think was the sled ge damage well they staked it anyway. None the less I think remote areas have a high probability of being compramized due to lax security you don't want these things in sensitive areas... having them next to highwas however makes cleanup easier. note this was a few months after the winter explosion of perhaps transcanada pump at beardmore a hundred or so km from the area I hike in. (I was down south at school at the time as I'm only up north in the summer but hike extensively out there and around the rail and pipeline so I see anything out of place up there and there s a lot of weird stuff up there that won't go into detail on here nothing extreme but I'm highly suspcious of intentional stuff gong on in northern ontario to influence the state of affairs in regard to us interests. as well as potential sabatouge of transcanada's gas line.) which could be related to keystone xl or transcanadas reputation. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2011/02/20/pipeline-explosion.html their lines are not secure. some of their stations do have sensors though..
  5. they'll save money if they know its him, they have 3 years ahead of them before an election, what is the rush? cost the tories more to slander both him and should he keel his successor. It is divine Karma to force him to sit through an entire term after bringing two minority governments down in non confidence motions. It is also hilarity that the tories are bringing austerity (10% cuts to the public service) with rae in opposition with his own social contract.. will the tories make him look benevolent? rae set to cut 2 billion in civil service jobs... harper to cut 80,000 jobs? http://www.harper-watch.ca/promises/harper-plans-80000-job-cuts-public-servants/ that is 5x the cuts Rae did in the 90's, and that is his big 'stain' although he cut work days not jobs.
  6. The PM assembles a cabinet, the cabinet proposes government legislation to parliament there really ain't more to it than that although the GG can deliver letters patents to parliament. None the less the PM is the first minister. This is what I would set to administer. The ability would of course be set by the laws parliament passes, but that is the gist. PM is a guy who gives advice thats it. De facto a lot is appointments, but de jure they are a political advisor to the monarch. The Regal agent is the executive and limited only by parliament and popular redress actions. The rule by law and have access to rule by force as exists within their powers be they reserve, statute or otherwise. The PM and GIC just gives insight into how to utilize those powers as delegated or distributed. Hence Ministries and Prime Minister. I am a benevolent individual - I think benevolence wins the future and good for all.
  7. Use legislation and carte blanche to improve peoples lives - but I'm guessing you mean what type of policies would I go with THE SHORT DEBT ELIMINTATED IN 15 YEARS - NO MORE FEDERAL TAXES (ONLY DIRECT LEVEE TO ELIMINATE POVERTY) 0% UNEMPLOYMENT OF WILLING FREE EDUCATION AND EDUCATIONAL CONTENT, WITH GRADUALLY REDUCING EDUCATIONAL COSTS ENFRANCHISEMENT OF THE PEOPLE IN THE SYSTEM WITH DIRECT INPUT AND VOTING AS PART OF THE SYSTEM, COOP/PUBLIC CROWN CORPS MORE INFORMATION SECURITY AND A SAFER CANADA LESS BEAUROCRACY AND REDTAPE ONLY THE SERVICES PEOPLE NEED OR WANT. INSURE HUMAN RIGHTS BY OVERRULING ACTS LIKE THE MENTAL HEALTH ACT WHICH VIOLATE CANADIANS CHARTER RIGHTS BY ALLOWING THE VIOLATION OF PERSONAL LIBERTY WITHOUT CONTEXT OT FUNDAMENTAL JUSTICE OR FREEDOM OF CONSCIENCE. THE LONG ECONOMIC POLICY: Removal of Debt in 15 Year by Eliminating Income Tax, having corporations pay the debt interest, requring an equal minimum payment on share of per capita income for citizens until per capita debt share is paid off by the individual, incentive programs for debt repayment such as a bond like system of return on savings to the Federal Government for payment - i.e. renegotiate debt for lower interest rates. Pay for government costs with printing for any funds not raised voluntarily from the public. Institute cooperative crown corps for Old Age Security, and National Health Insuranc. Institute a National Reserve for Strategic Goods/ and a national market. Enforce NAFTA's environmental damage clauses, implement a 0 emissions industrial development program. Institute an Environmental Cleanup Surcharge for Import and Producers. Lease non essential transport facilities and roadways. Create Merchant Marine as a means of building the Navy. Institute a Federal Works program. Create Work Camps as pennentaries with workshare and pay. Restructuring - the Federal Government would be restructured to Operate as a Public Bank. Since taxes would no longer be filed or collected, instead every one in Canada would be required to have a Public Bank Account tied into their SIN# acceessable with their ID. Everyone in Canada including visitors would need to get a "canadian SIN passport" which would also act as a bank card visitors would need to have a minimum balance which would be redeemed on exit if they opted. There would be a fee for the card for foreign visitors, but this fee would cover up to a month of normal use in terms of transactions, it would act like a credit/debit card, and would work on the interact/mastercard/visa card system. Businesses would log sales and other reporting requirements, and dispere payroll through the system. All federal departments would be roled into the Bank system from the Treasury - eg. Infrastructure, Banking, Mint, CRA, Corporations Canada, Health Canada etc.. and programs such as Old Age Security and Health Insurance would be "branded" as opt in services - while poverty removal programs would be based on actual income and assets. The bank would operate at cost on a NFP basis with any revenues after costs returned to the citizens on a per capita basis - or if the debt still existed direct to debt paydown. Private Bank accounts would be tied to the public account. and funds would be able to seamlessly be transfered from the public account to private accounts (with private banks) - Aside from the Bank, the government would Operate a Chancellory - headed by the Governor General - - this stream would be incharge of heritage and education and the national councils such as Arts and Sciences. - and would bethe means of the grand advisory council and citizens assembly) These would be lumped in as "services" that are optional. Individuals would be able to propose programs and departments would be able to fundraise and sendout tenders via the bank system. The Interior would be based on parliament, the courts, emergency services (federal police, military, militia, coast gaurd and the like) these would be deemed the "essential public safety services" The External would deal the Foreign Affairs and Trade (more or less the state department) groups like CIDA, missions etc.. - with a NEUTRAL policy framework the idea would be primary information delivery, processing the foreign passport bank cards, and creatingcontacts for clarity of communication. Private programs would be initiated foraid while CIDA would operate under a business and ownership model. Bonds would be eliminated wholey and Print of new monies would be used to raise revenue. Defence Policy: set a policy of self sustenance for national defence provide for the crownlands to be utilized by the CF without royalty payment requirement, invest billions into defence infrastructure to create a base for production of wholely Canadain defence products rather than importing from the US. Increase training programs for CF so they are capable of gunsmithing, and equipment manufacture. implement site training and construction and upkeep of federal infrastructure as a role of the CF. Institute Private Militias. Focus on Technology such as missles and railguns and electronic systems, A MODULAR militar - focus on modularity. -- Put a fitness facility every highschool that is publically accessible with full spectrum equipment. Support mega-"Gymnasiums" in major population centers with free access to the citizens. (payment for use for non citizens) Canada would be nuclear armed - with Nuetron and Plutonium systems and delivery capabilities. merchant marine to supliment the navy and provide hulls for ships. CLEANUP: 1 ID supported with biometrics - THE PASSPORT. all ID's rolled into passport (would act as sin card and every other ID requirement by containing the data on a part of the passport listing licensing etc.. as well electronically stored. LEGAL: replace Criminal Code with Public Safety Code and Treasury Code - with a focus on public safety and economic crmes - leave the provinces to deal with civil issues (any federal laws on crime should be of the indictable type and cary what would be a 2 year sentence minimum) Focus on restitution, and rehabilitation, institute death penalty as an option for the accused rather than sentencing of other sorts only the accused may optin on death (required to preauthorize, or a 3 month review process required), create a National Supplimentary Police net, institute public monitoring system to monitor movement of individuals and vehicles (via rfid like tech) can lock into persons of interest but codes are scured so only those on the inside can track but alarms would be set. Biometics could be used to identify people -while a sub dermal chip or in the vehicle, could be used to transmit the ID token - areas with periodic verification of biometric data. Sever penalty for attempting to circumvent the tracking system. This makes things such as speeding more easy to identify - but speed limit would be removed on roads and reckless endangerment would be gauged on road conditions with increased personal liabilities if at fault foraccidents based on speed. Citizens assembly with every citizen having1 vote, aided by technology - vote proxying would be allowed. It would serve as a means of proposition, review for redress and feedback) Supplimentary Advisory Council (Grand Council - as a means of assembling those who volunteer for council to have --- +1 likes from Parliament, and the Citizens council so that prominent advisors would be identified setting thresholds for identification for each catagory) A National Intranet would be implemented that is secure, it would utilize levels of security that is "hardware secured acess at high level (data input allowance), corporate accounts (where corporations, provide data to be updated to corporations canada), individual accounts where citizens have specific data and qualifications input into their citizens file (and citizensopt to make private or public), and wimax type tech that would be rolled out accross Canada for "delivery" only. Individuals would be able to "browse information but would not be able to input a change to the system. The government would provide educational content and service delivery. Citizens could at service Canada locations alter their data physically in secure facilities. A "mirror and link" to the unsecure "mirror" would be able to add supplimentary data utilizing the "normal" internet". To use this service individuals would log in with a biometric system such as webcam, and their physical location would need to be "allowed" by notifying service canada. This system would provide free internet to everyone for informational purposes - with the government utilizing its grants programs to aquire content and take donations of content for addition to the Online National Library - an education council would be mandate to create "master programs for educational areas such as math science history etc" Software would also be made available to download through the public net. Video phone service would also be made available so that individuals would have a "tone broadcast" via the phone to enable their National Intranet to lock in on to links all that is needed is a microphone to recod the tone -- this would be interfaced with smart phones, and all smartphones sold in canada would have to be standardized to access the national net which would broadcast on specific frequnecies so that only Canadian Phones would be able to access the National Intranet. ENVIRONMENT: An environmental cleanup surcharge would be levied against importers and producers based on the rating of the goods interms of damage during production, and use. This fund would service environment Canada that would service as an EPA. Magistrates courts would serve as a means of out of court settlement. Insure public access to courts at no cost - implement "criminals support payment" that is anyone convicted pays a small service charge to support federal court costs, magistrates would be publically elected
  8. CF wants to replace the Canadian ones anyway. but yeah they are lax on security, but when was the lasttime al qaeda attacked a Canadian ship..
  9. 5% cuts are totally reversed by the 20 billion dollar crime bill called omnibus. (they should only be legislating on crimes that have penatentary length sentences, two years or more. --- lesser crimes are a domain of the province.) Also spending has increased it is just being spread out over insane time periods like 15 years. They are spending into the future to make it seam like costs are going down - they arn't they are going up.
  10. he doesn't get a pension he turned his down in the 90's. it is fraud if he tries to get one. and he needs to spend his retirement in jail if that transpires. In a 1995 speech, he called the pension package a "monstrosity" that was "obscene." "My wife and I just purchased our first home and we are planning for our future, but I could not go home and look my wife or my constituents in the eye if I opted into a plan like the one offered in Bill C-85. Instead, I will put my own money into an RRSP,"
  11. I think this is a cultural issue, if you want a supply take a trip to your nearest border province and buy what you want in Quebec or manitoba or bring home a couple litres when you fly in from a vacation etc.. alchohol is really really low cost in many countries as compared to ontario. like 5$ litres of tequilla from tequilla, 5$ litre bottles of gin from ukraine, 5$ bottles of rum from mexico etc.. I did a price check on the coconut liqour I brought back from mexico and it cost less there, it wasn't readily available in ontario, in basing it on malibu coconut for 375ml at $12.95 - in Cancun (not the lowest price in Mexico) the cost is still atleast half of what it would be in Ontario. excample 150 pesos you are looking at the same price for 1 litre. You want a low price you need to import those 2 litres duty free every time you head out somewhere. It ads up if you go on annual or biannual or more frequent trips and arn't a regular drinker. If you drink regularly home brew is ridiculously cheap for wines and beer.
  12. Joke the states is sueing the oil sands.... Alberta is bankrolling and prepping it.. you think if environmental damage in the US as a spill over effect is enough for a lawsuit... problems arn't worse in Alberta. Development is good but it needs to be done safely without polluting the natural environment. It isn't an oil "spill" it is an oil "sink" or what oil is like after it is cleaned up. Like I said development is good but 0 emissions techs should be mandatory on the operations and old systems should be migrated to enclosed burn type ops. They are being total jerks in not putting the money right back into a safer and cleaner means of extraction and that is why it is the cigarette of yesteryear no one wants a smoker blowing smoke in their face and that is the oil sands.. they could be chewing nicorette.
  13. The situation is a very simple one, don't screw around with tradition - it is status quo ante diem. DO whatever the hell you want with new culture but leave the old alone. We need to remove the economic system from the social system and remove the Federal Government from the social system. The Federal Government shouldn't be butting its noses in the lives of people they should be focusing on Liberty - economic liberty for the citizens of Canada and Liberty by insuring peace and order, and Social Liberty by providing for freedom in society for people to live their upstanding and lawful lives to their own. These equal opertunity programs are BS.. just stay the hell out of marriage and get rid of income taxes already... who cares if people are married that is a social cultural status issue, it shouldn't be a federal government concern get the government the hell out of my family life.
  14. Yeah - conservatives spend what they want - often on military at cost of the public service, and none of the other parties spend because their vote doesn't count until 2015 or disaster.
  15. all I can say is what an anus. It is really sad people vote for jerks like this. stay the hell out of culture and religion you totalitarian dumbo http://www.vancouversun.com/life/Veils+banned+citizenship+ceremonies/5851094/story.html the face viel has existed a long time why the change after 40+years? such an anus
  16. virtual keyboard. But to the haters try to fixate on the issue, not the messenger, Slightly different situuatuin from when my posts were being edited externally. (also note my computer was bluescreened while mentioning that my posts were edited externally, and still may be to insert typos. Now I have a keyboard now that is virtualized, I am definately being hacked but the typo's are predominantely my own now. The non physical key touch keyboard is absolutely horrible due to bad engineering,
  17. Disgusting. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/tories-spend-850-000-celebrating-libya-mission-parliament-002106082.html There is no glory or honour in weapons of range I don't see how handing a country over to warlords and islamic fundamentalists that were called terrorists before and during the conflict is anything to parade about, they toppled a legitimate government and put criminals and foreign agents in charge of the country which is niw racked by civil war.. that war is not over, You've taken a stable state by treachery and turned it into a hellhole, Shame!!! and at $850,000 when you need a national contraversy to spend a million for homeless natives. That money could have helped ine if the other reserves rather than this salami thumping bs, SHAME!!! there are plenty more homeless canadians to house before spending 850k to glory the lack of honour into dropping bombs on north africans,
  18. Us lost on that one, also cuba was the good guy. US conquered cuba in the spanish american war and subjected its people to be whores for america as indentured servants under the tutelage of us backed dictators. reaping the profits of backbreaking labour in the fields us tried to overthrow castro before he made stronger relations with the ussr, us policy under the monroe doctrine totally violates the un charter, the us is an aggressors state and a bad guy, ain't nothing wrong with cuba, the us faces many of the same issues as cuba, learn a little about history before you make such stupid statements,''the us is a tantrum child and little more, there are issues of disenfranchisement and suppression everywhere in the world. and no Inwont claim that is all the cias fault get a clue to understand that ONLY the us stopped trade with cuba, not much of an embargo. The us is still illegally occupying part of cuba, the us is the bad guy they are the invader they are the occupier. Gunboat diplomacy is a bad guy practice, it is thuggery
  19. Theynarn't even suppose to be engaged in combat no more. http://calgary.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20111209/canada-afghanistan-prisoners-111209/20111209/?hub=CalgaryHome this was a truely puzzling move 10 years later and after Canadians were suppose to have abanndoned their combat role in Afghanistan although I don't see how handing them over to a nation that admitted to use of torture in afghanistan makes it any better than the afghans, It is gross negligence to hand pows over to a country that routinely violates the geneva convention on war and is an admitted nation that supports the use of torture contrary to international human rights standard. Baird is wrong to turn these pows over to the US he is incriminating himself to abetting torture by doing so and is a war criminal. SHAME!
  20. I think the law should be changed before the penalties are. The minister is overstepping in imposing this ' most grave' penalty de facto before legal action is taken. It should be done on recommendation of the courts not a political office. It is disgusting. Why this wouldn't be done legally is beyond me. The removal grounds being used are suppose to be reserved for serious offences like terrorism. His use if thus for absenteeism is ludicrous. The real problem is stupid immigration laws requiring constant presence in Canada. It makes no sense. Add up total days as a class over lifetime eg 3500 days in canada or 2500 over 10 years
  21. It'd make more sense to wait a few years to see where things are at a year or so before the next election, this bill is way too soon.
  22. In the olden days yes it did, but people could vote in any riding they could get to. Some would start the day early and head out by sleigh to the neighbouring communities to reach all the local ones by nightfall. For municipal elections it remains true. There is a gray fuzzy area but the bottom line is that for provincial elections you need to be A RESIDENT, For federal elections you are suppose to vote in your principal residence -- indiivuduals may stilll vote in any riding of their choice -and they are constituent in the riding they choose as their residence. Normal people are very settled though, and society is increasingly totalitarian against mobile individuals and transients. The bottom line is you have 1 vote and you cast it where you are resident - or where you opt as having the strongest vested interest in terms of residence. You have 1 vote in each municpality (as a member of a corporation, if you are a stake holder), 1 vote in each province (if you are resident) , and one vote in canada This however is problematic for byelections you may also be able to vote in uk elections (as many canadians are commonwealth citizens especially if they are born before 1982 in canada)
  23. Those things prevent the effectiveness of chemical weapons and can cause "accidents" eg. with tear gas or pepper spray. It would require a further escalation of force beyond long range chemical agents. Note though that tear gas is not the only air dispersed agent BUT individuals have the right to defend against assualt or to use defensive agents for their protection where there is fear of danger to their life or another, and may take any reasonable means to uphold that right. The old urine or vinegar thing http://freedommanual.blogspot.com/2009/12/tear-gas.html *bear in mind once the riot act is read you have only two real options - 1. leave 2. win - it is not a game it is up to life in prison. If you are surrounded or boxed in, only 1 option remains. Self defence is a legal defence justification. Take for instance: http://www.sfu.ca/~mauser/papers/selfdefense/CSD-JCJ-JFP-8-3-99.pdf It is no longer a protest once the riot act is read. If police are acting in such a way to believe it was read it would be reasonable to believe it has been, since not hearing it be read is not a defence to defend again the offences within the riot act or their penalties, or the use of lethal force entrapped there in to be assumed. This as the riot act being enacted entails that lethal force may be used, thus the person object of the act may take any reasonable means to protect their life or life of another, including removal of the threat through proactive self defence . Apprehension of serious mischief (4) Every one who, in good faith and on reasonable grounds, believes that serious mischief will result from a riot before it is possible to secure the attendance of a peace officer is justified in using as much force as he believes in good faith and on reasonable grounds, (a) is necessary to suppress the riot; and ( is not excessive, having regard to the danger to be apprehended from the continuance of the riot. However it must be realized that peace officers themselves are under scruitiny of the act and if they are instigating what would constitute a riot they too would be subject to the response therein. Simply put police instigating a riot whether by agent provocatuers or duty officers would make themselves subject to supression often times removing the cops will prevent the riot, because they create opposition and cause escalation and aggravation leading to more mischeif. So it seems reasonable a d justifiable to eliminate them from being actors in the event of a riot. Since one ought only need to kill individuals in actual commision actus reus of an offence to supress, the mischeif. so killing the people causing damage and insuring he absence of police to escalate the event seems reasonable. nothing like the odd dead person to act as a deterent for others from breaking windows, just not worth it, so instead of employing riot police why not deploy snipers, then you wonder why people are being killed in the middle east. there is no need to criminalize law abiding citizens, Its turned to a sport. doi g thi gs likenhaving the odd island for meeti gs or remote locations withutnaccess road =s is a way more oroactive approach to conferences. they are endangeringpeoples lives.
  24. a major concern in the deal that was announced was the fact law enforcement agencies don't provide " accurate, relevant and necessary information" I've seen my police reports and administrative write ups and they are chalk full of misrepresentations and outright lies. I have no confidence sharing of information will prevent further injuries for individuals who share my circumstances.
  25. http://www.agoracosmopolitan.com/news/canadian_sovereignty/2011/11/30/2024.html different kind of policing,.. to sleep before or after the announcement today?
