Questions for the 'Hurrah for Israel' crowd
Catchme replied to Figleaf's topic in The Rest of the World
IMV, war has been going on for almosyt 60 years. It is hard to start one when one already exists. Over simplification, of this and asking for a Zionist response is hardly a correct thing. Most people do not even know how Israel came about leading to now either. Read below some pertinent facts. What Really Happened Fifty Years Ago? ..scholars mining the mountains of new documents were of an ideological persuasion that prepared them to take a more neutral position...they referred to the war simply by the year it happened –the 1948 war, rather than the Israeli term, the “War of Independence,” or the Arabic reference, Nakba (Catastrophe). importantly, the end result of their research was an historical account that sharply contradicted the official Israeli version of the 1948 war. The new historiographical picture is a fundamental challenge to the official history that says the Jewish community in Palestine faced possible annihilation on the eve of the 1948 war. Archival documents expose a fragmented Arab world wrought by dismay and confusion and a Palestinian community that possessed no military ability with which to threaten the Jews. ... annihilation was impossible because of Jewish superiority in two crucial areas, diplomacy and military preparedness. The Jewish community had carried the day in diplomatic maneuvering in the United Nations and by accurately analyzing the balance of military power on the ground. An unwritten agreement between the Jewish Agency and the Arab Legion, the strongest Arab force in the area, practically guaranteed that the battle-ready Jewish forces would prevail. There are sociological explanations for the Jewish victories on the diplomatic and battle fronts...Contrary to both the Palestinian and Zionist historical narratives, the new historians do not accuse Britain of favoring either side or of collusion with the enemy. They also reject the claim of Jewish extremists that their terrorist campaign forced Britain to withdraw. An economic crisis in Britain and the overall decline of the British Empire forced Britain to be content with holding only those areas..that were of high strategic value in..Palestine was not one of them. Early on, leaders of the Jewish community recognized the imminent end of British...while the..Palestinians seemed convinced that the British Mandate would remain longer..the moment London decided to refer the Palestine Mandate to the United Nations—the Jewish leadership in Palestine effectively mobilized its community and prepared it for the takeover of the Mandatory government and its functions. The Palestinian leadership, with its prominent members exiled abroad by the British, did very little in this direction, and failed to organize its community financially or militarily. The result was that the Jewish community was superior both militarily and financially when a civil war broke out between the two communities in November 1947. Jewish superiority also was evident in the number of fighting men. In the local war, which lasted between November 1947 and May 1948, Jewish forces took control of all of the mixed Jewish-Arab towns in Palestine and seized crucial transport routes as well. The end of Palestinian presence in Palestine began not because few Jews fought against many Arabs, as the official Zionist version would have it, nor was it a miracle, as the mainstream Israeli historians tend to describe it. It was simply the outcome of a military advantage. http://www.ameu.org/page.asp?iid=35&aid=427&pg=4 From documents a the University of Haifa, Israel - by Illan Pappe -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wiki is actually a great read on this and shows quite clearly Zionist Jews were conducting acts of terror, against the British see below: The Holocaust had a major effect ..in Palestine. During the war, the British forbade entry into Palestine of European Jews escaping Nazi persecution, placing them in detention camps or deporting them to places such as Mauritius. Avraham Stern, the leader of the Jewish Lehi underground group, whose will to fight the British was so strong he offered to fight on the Nazi side, and other Zionists, tried to convince the Nazis to continue seeing emigration from Europe as the "solution" for their "Jewish problem", Starting in 1939, the Zionists organized an illegal immigration effort, known as Aliya Beth, conducted by "Hamossad Le'aliyah Bet"...members of the Jewish Lehi underground, assassinated Lord Moyne in Cairo on 6 November 1944. Moyne was the British Minister of State for the Middle East. Following the war.. Jewish refugees were stranded in displaced persons (DP) camps in Europe...the British refused to lift the ban on immigration..The Jewish underground forces then united and carried out several attacks against the British. In 1946, the Irgun blew up the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, the headquarters of the British administration, killing 92 people. Seeing that the situation was quickly spiraling out of hand, the British announced their desire to terminate their mandate and to withdraw by May 1948. The United Nations..attempted to solve the dispute between the Palestinian Jews and Arabs...(UNSCOP), composed of representatives from several states...considered two main proposals. The first called for the creation of independent.. states in Palestine, with Jerusalem to be placed under international administration. The second called for the creation of a single federal state containing both Jewish and Arab constituent states...the first option was adopted..The division was to take effect on the date of British withdrawal. The partition plan was rejected..by the leadership of the Palestinian Arabs and by most of the Arab population. Most of the Jews accepted the proposal, in particular the Jewish Agency, which was the Jewish state-in-formation. Numerous records indicate the joy of Palestine's Jewish inhabitants as they attended the U.N. session voting for the division proposal. ..Several Jews, however, declined the proposal. Menachem Begin, Irgun's leader, announced: "The partition of the homeland is illegal. It will never be recognized. The signature by institutions and individuals of the partition agreement is invalid. It will not bind the Jewish people. Jerusalem was and will for ever be our capital. The Land of Israel will be restored to the people of Israel. All of it. And for ever". His views were publicly rejected by the majority of the nascent Jewish state. ..On the date of British withdrawal the Jewish provisional government declared the formation of the State of Israel, and said that it would grant full civil rights to all within its borders, whether Arab, Jew, Bedouin or Druze. The Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel.. stated: We appeal ... to the Arab inhabitants of the State of Israel to preserve peace and participate in the upbuilding of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its provisional and permanent institutions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Mandate_of_Palestine So, basically the land was stolen from the Palestinians, and the Israeli governments have never acted in good faith according to the partition, or indeed their own words. No, I am not condoning the actions of Palestinians, but I am not prepared to condone the actions of Zionists either. They are the pot calling the kettle black. -
British Jews break away from 'pro-Israeli' Board of Deputies
Catchme replied to Catchme's topic in The Rest of the World
JBG, you can't make such an association sorry. Zionist Israel does not = Jews around the world. Zionist Israel cannot steal the voices of Jews around the world. Jews around the world are telling them that. Jews around the world who are not supporters of Zionist Israel's actions, have a right to their own opinions. -
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC)
Catchme replied to Canuck E Stan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Artic Mission a 5 disk documentary, is an excellent view into Global Warming and the effects it is having. Canuck E Stan has read the USDavis evnvironmental report. Apparently, he does not believe all the data by the scients involved, even though, he was the one that initially posted it, and boasted about it, until it was pointed out that indeed the report was NOT supportive of his position. -

'evolution by stealth': Deep Integration
Catchme replied to Catchme's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You may have a point there, or they perhaps have some other ego driven motive. The fact there is another meeting coming up at the end of this month, says a good deal. They are on a fast time limit. There is nothing good in deep integration for Canadians, and very much too lose. -
So you're wishing we had more evil in the world??? So are you saying that having 5000sq houses, driving gas guzzling and polluting cars, living in dream worlds such as some of the idiotic shows on tv, turning our green countryside into pavement, putting up a big show to prove that I am richer than you etc is not evil? But margrace, some people's bank accounts are getting greener, as the world grows deader and browner, surely it is an equal balance? What is truly evil, is wanting to destroy 100's of thousands if not millions of people, to keep the lifestyle you mention.

Iran, a Real Look at the Country's Peoples
Catchme replied to Catchme's topic in The Rest of the World
It seems some are still failing to see the reality of this situation. 1. Iran does not have nuclear capabilities, and may not have nuclear capabilities for up to a decade, if then 2. Iran's population is young and it does not want the Mullahs control over their lives and futures and they are actively seeking to be rid of it. They want a democracy. They are not radical in anyway shape or form. 3. Iran is NO threat to Israel or anyone else. 4. You do not destroy a peoples and a country because someday they may be a threat, or because they may try turning the nuclear capabilites for hydro purposes into other, at some alleged point in the future. 5. Nuclear weapons should never be used upon others, or indeed used at all. 6. Historonics and spurious accustions towards ALL Muslims and broad brushing them into 1, is racism. 7. North Korea actually has nuclear weapons, why would some be agitating to destroy a nation and peoples who do not have that capability and may never? They are because they have another motivation, or several. 8. Why do some wish so strongly to turn the world into chaos, and I am talking here about the western world namely the US admin and its supporters? 9. Iran would never ever nuclear attack Israel, it is where one of their most sacred places is. 10. This nuclear air attack by USA/Israel would be only about money, power and oil and it is being done with the help of those whose religious fervour has been co-opted by ego. And perhaps even evil. 11. No society/country have the right to destroy another country and innocent people so that their standard of life is supposedly maintained. 12. There will be no more safety in the world if Iran, full of innocent people, is destroyed. There will be less. -
JBG, with all due respect, your questions, are; red herrings, over simplified and and broad brushing with a quite clear aganeda. Thanks but no thank, people do not need the kind of erroneous propaganda being pushed with those questions.

The only way it makes sense if the bombs are actually NOT Iranian technology. Trouble is are Americans going to get sucked in yet again?

How many of those countries do these things in the name of democracy? IOW: it's the hypocrisy, stupid. Let me say, however, that I agree that there is, in some circles, a tendancy towards knee-jerk support of anyone deemed contra the U.S.A. Such reflexive behaviour is generally the result of ignorance or monomania and should be rewarded with a swift kick in the ass. I would say both in some cases!
-
There is too much evidence suporting the fact the USA/Isreal want to bomb Iran, both here and on the other Iran. Saying that Iran, if it gets nukes, will use them against Israel, is so far from plausable as to be non-existent. First and primary reason is, they would never bomb Israel because of Dome of the Rock. It is one of Muslims most sacred places and they would do nothing to harm it, or their access to it. Second, when has Iran ever been the aggressor?

Really, and where did you find this out at? And exactly why is it important? And I seem to remember and adage about quality versus quantity.

Who's getting rich from Iraq?
Catchme replied to BubberMiley's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Prove that they didn't make trillions? There is much evidence here to prove otherwise. Those mentioned the Bushes, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld et al are the top stockholders who also sit, or used to sit on the Boards of Directors. They also, are the boards of directors, and holders of stocks in the oil companies that are using Iraq's oil. Funny how some scream corruption in others, but are willing to discount over the top corruption in those they are partisian too. -
Military investigates claim Canadians abused detainees
Catchme replied to Catchme's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It is not just about the 2 dead in check point shooting in just 1 week, and the 10 injured, if those numbers are even correct. It is about the accummulated civilian casualy numbers, and the apparent increase them over short time periods. Perhaps the soldiers there are getting ansy to come home, tired burned out and reacting poorly. Or it is something else entirely. There is a reason why the Canadian military now, like the American troops are NOT winning the hearts and minds of Afghanis. This was NOT so at the commencement of our engagement there. Something has changed and NOT for the better. Found this older but still pertinent insight. View of Afghanistan from within -
Wrong again. Don;t you get tired of being wrong all the time? There is currently NO abortion laws in Canada. None. Ergo there are no 'rights' based in law. The absence of any statutes is not an absense of all law. You are absolutely correct Figleaf. It is too bad some do not investigate what they are speaking about. There are no abortion laws in Canada, because the SCC ruled that the conditions in creating an abortion law would breach humans rights in Canada. The fundamental Rights of; women's equality, of self-determination/ action and freedom of conscience would be breached if abortion laws were created. And no law can be created that breaches Rights.

Stephen Harper and the Theo-cons
Catchme replied to misterslumshine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I want people running for office to be honest about what they believe in. Don't you? If people decide not to vote for them because of it, that is their business. I don't care what MP's believe religious wise, it is their personal right to freedom of religion and conscience. Because this country has freedom of religion and conscience their religious beliefs should NEVER enter the HoC, once running for office, or elected. Nor should it impact upon their actions when dealing with matters of state. -

Great analogy BC Chick, you are quite correct, that was a created straw man position to try and kick down something that wasn not even applicable. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...5041100879.html -
Is Global Warming a Leftist Urban Legend?
Catchme replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The CPC lied and got caught in it! And these people are running the country? This is beyond the pale, yet again. Shameful, and embarassing this and a good thing Al Gore called the Baird and the CPC on their lies. http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/02/12/...Canada-Gore.php -
Iran, a Real Look at the Country's Peoples
Catchme replied to Catchme's topic in The Rest of the World
So what, you are saying that Iran should be nuked because of these articles? What is your point of posting inposting them they are not in anyway pertinent to the US pplans to nuke Iran. Again, the Iranian youth, who are the largest demographics in IRan are trying to get rid of the mullahs, who actually conrol the country and get rid of the figure head president. They want democracy and they will gain it. apparently some would like to radicalize them instead by bombing them when they are innocent. -
Who's getting rich from Iraq?
Catchme replied to BubberMiley's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
One sure can note it and bring it to light, and correctly so. When the administration of a government, illegally attacks another country or countries based upon lies, and that same admin, and their extended family are making trillions of dollars from said wars something not only needs to be said, something needs to be done. It is strange that people are trying to normalize this. again Bushes and Cheney are making trillions off of these wars the USA has engaged in. -
I'm not scouring the internet looking for 'examples' funny how some are pro-choice and don't expound upon the needed destruction of Muslims. Some do see the need for destroying radical terrorist organizations. There is no needed destruction of Muslims, all Muslims are not terrorists anymore than all Christians are fundamentalists raving about nuking Iran and the ME.

Stephen Harper and the Theo-cons
Catchme replied to misterslumshine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You see wilbur there is a huge scale in self identified believers in God/Christians, and the same could be said for any religion, even Muslim. Non-practising Minimal practising - religious holidays, baptisms etc. Moderates - attend church 2 or more time a month but believe a relationship with God is personal and not to be imposed upon others Strong moderates - attend church every Sunday and comprise church boards, and volunteer regularily for church activities but believe a relationship with God is personal and not to be imposed upon others Fundamentalists - those that believe that nations should be a theocracy or as close to it as possible and who believe that all should be of their religious flavour. Canada has no state religion, politicians have no business bringing their flavour of religion into it. -
It doesn't ? Since when? Man, you mean to tell me I could have cashed those cheques that were sent out to the beneficiary as payment for suicide? Have never seen a private insurance policy that ever covers suicide. I would be interesting in seeing one that does. Mine says something like; in the event of death or injuries that result from, murder for the purpose of collecting benefits, suicide or attempted suicide, or death or injuries resulting from substance intoxication, this policy shall be rendered non-binding.
