  1. Just as Brian Mulroney got away with bribery for Airbus? The right wing was able to benefit from the RCMP announcing a criminal investigation into the Liberals. They won an election. Fifteen months later, no charges against any Liberal. 'nuff said!
  2. Blaming the victim? No, stating historical fact. It just sort of sounded like you were saying if they had given in to the terrorists warnings they wouldn't have had the tragegy. My my, what a comfort. Such a generous timeframe, when dealing with lives and explosives. It was of course an attempt to blame the victim, instead of blamming the terrorists who did the attacking. They wanted the Brits out and had a provisional government in the ready to step in. This was all done in a vacuum, as the Palestinians were leaderless as they were in exile. There was no huge military victory by the Jews and the Jews on the land at that time were in no danger of extermination. http://www.ameu.org/page.asp?iid=35&aid=427&pg=4
  3. There was stand downs orders a google search will provide plenty of evidence. It seems some forget info is but a serach engine away when they are making false claims there was no stand down order. http://www.prisonplanet.com/air_defenses_s...lerts_given.htm There is a text document of cheney's standown order in fact his standdown order was at first confused with a shoot down order. http://newsmine.org/archive/9-11/norad-faa...-down-order.txt Then more here at Standdown, in fact there is a huge amount of info there. http://standdown.net/ PN I would suggest you go there and start mining all the documentation, intead of getting so frustrated with those who are trying to deny it.
  4. There were posts on other environmental thread here this week, that showed in fact, thatwe were close to meeting the targerts. 80% was the figure. Logic says if we were that close something else had to have happened since. This was up until the time Harper took office. If it has soared that much beyond since, it is Harper's fault.
  5. Link does not work had to search it out. http://uk.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUKL1690391920070217 Good on them, Bush is out of control, he has no mandate, and no support of the American public. Sounds like it is much the same up here.
  6. Well I just googled the value added tax, that guyser mentioned. It appears NOT to be the same thing at all in compare to the GST. For example below: http://www.cs.mfcr.cz/CmsGrc/Cestovani-a-n...-chovat/vat.htm And you only get it back on other purchases not made in the Republic and for amounts over 2500, at one time. Then this about the EU program: http://www.ideamerge.com/motoeuropa/vat/chapter/index.html No, not the same as GST rebates except in the broadest way. GST has nothing to do with there being a 28% decline in tourism. Nor will taking the rebate away cause more decline.
  7. From the G&M today: It should be obvious to anyone that Canada is not going to meet the Kyoto targets and the sooner we pull out of the treaty the better. So, emissions have soared ever higher since the CPC came into power with their disavowing Global Warming, and now their actions/imaction will cost us 10 billion or more? So, we should just pull out because the CPC have caused our GHG to soar higher by giving industry free reign?
  8. Hillier needs to be taken to task and Canadians should be speaking out What is a signifier of how partisian he is being? Let alone his saying "has to be put right" The lies he uttered. Mulroney's cut back the forces as well, and Hillier seems to overlook this. They sold the Chinooks that we are now about to buy again to the Dutch back in 1991. The truth is the Canadian Forces have been degraded over the last 30 years if not longer perhaps since WWII and definitely since the Korean Conflict. The military in a free country like ours, with a 100% volunteer military, has no right to conduct themselves in a partisian manner, they agree, through the Oath, to be kept on a proverbial leash. Apparently, you did not read the post geoffery, please do. Yes, it is just the military while under oath, which is the way with ALL military personal in democracies. It is done so by oath. Hillier crossed a big line.
  9. Guess some people prefer evil to goodbness.
  10. So, basically, you're saying Morris's agenda is the opposite of what you said it was, but that he's still revising history in a way that reflects negatively on the Zionist enterprise? I would counter by saying it is the history which reflects negatively on the Zionist enterprise, not the man interpreting it. Indeed, if Morris is correct, then the real revisionists are those perpetuating the standrard narrative of Israel's immaculate conception. You are correct, those, mentioned as well as Israeli historians are bringing to light, the revisionist Zionist false history that was perpetuated to the great harm of the Palestinian peoples.
  11. Hillier crossed a huge line there was nothing vague about his comments, they were plainly partisian, and he has no business crossing the line. If he wants to be in politics then leave the military. He has NO business making such commentary. Hillier gave up his right to public criticisms of the government, either past or present, and being able to engage in discussions on public policy when he joined the military. He took an oath. Everyone who joins the military takes the same oath, and if he wants to criticize the government (past or present) he should resign his commission and become a civilian. Men and women in uniform don’t have the same freedom of expression as civilians do; they specifically give it up during their time in uniform. He crossed the line, as do all military personal when they publically criticize the governments either past or present.
  12. Dangerous, never deal with absolutes. The possibility of using nukes has prevented anyone from actually using them. As soon as we all agree to destroy the nukes, the last man with one has emmense power. What about to divert an asteroid or something like that? No, it has not prevented anyone from actually using them, the USA remains the only country to have used them upon other peoples. That is a subjective point eh? Asteriod = red herring Using them against peoples, because someday said peoples who may or may not have nuclear weapons someday, is immoral, illegal, and a crime against humanity.
  13. The apologists for Bush do not have a leg to stand on in this matter. It is a huge deal that he did not mention Canada. No excuses are acceptable, This is NOT the first time he has done the same thing over our military in Afghanistan. Not only have Canadian soldiers died, they have also been killed by US friendly fire, it seems some have forgotten this from the early days when we were there. The USA rushed out of Afghanistan, and kept minimal troops there, to illegally invade Iraq based upon lies. Afghanistan was NO threat to Canada's security, and Canada should have left when the US called the hunt for Osama off in 2003. There can be no greater proof that Bush cares not who is doing what, as long he and his family and his admin can garner more wealth and power, through lies, crimes against humanity, and using other peoples and nations.
  14. It more than likely is not happening at all. The government is Shia pretty much in Iraq as the Sunnis stayed home. All the evidence points to Sunnis being the major insurregncy in Iraq, they have even admitted they are and have in the last week asked for negotiations etc to commence to try and stabiize Iraq. Evidence for this has been presented here at mapleleafforums in the thread on Iraq and indeed some Iran threads. This fear driven racist hatred againt Muslims that is being exhibited by those advocating that Iran be nuked, is incomprehensible. If peopel feel it isn't fear driven racist hatred I would like to know just how they can be apologists for the use of nuclear weapons and feel good about themselves?
  15. Personally, I do not believe the RCMP or police forces are anymore corrupt than any other segment of the population. To categorize the entire forces based upon travesties of justice, that occur randomly is really not fair. Yes, there have been outstanding cases, and yes there have been some spectacular cases in BC recently of the RCMP/police not exemplifying proper conduct, but that does not mean blanket statements should be applied. Nor is believing in capital punishment right wing thing, an example would be my own family. We would self label as progressives, that vote left of center/center. For myself, I am completely am against the death penalty, and am a social advocate against it. However, my partner of 27 years, is, and always has been, a full supporter of capital punishment. It has been a bone of contention of course between us, and a subject much debated. Still neither have changed our opinions on the subject, we agree to disagree. But that is what freedom of conscience is all about, tolerance and respect of other's perceptions and self determination as being individuals own Rights and Privileges. Having said that, this does not mean looking the other way and keeping one's mouth shut, when wrong is being done either though.
  16. It is a very stupid idea. If feeds the ambitions of the Mullahs. The engagement of the US keeps throwing Iranian Democracy backwards. I am sure you know the story from 1950 onwards. A couple of really good posts madmax thank you!
  17. But you didn't mind when the LIberals were selling judge's robes in exchange for free legal services right? Or stacking the benches with cronies, party bagmen and failed political candidates. Or when Martin appointed two poorly qualified people to the supreme court because they were gay rights advocates. Figleaf it is more than a shocking disgrace, and so shows the hypocrisy of Harper. Argus give examples please, other than that it is just opinion.
  18. Ironically, it sounds like Irgun's methods are the model for present Palestinian militants' practices. What this excerpt doesn't tell is that the Irgun warned of the King David Hotel attack beforehand and the Brits wouldn't "lower" themselves to listening to th ewarning. The result was tragic. Also, the King David Hotel was a military target, not a falafel stand. The act against the King David Hotel was terrorism. After answering scribblets linked to quiz I received this score: answer. 0-2 OK, you're not an anti- Semite. But you're not a liberal either. (shock)
  19. Remember, the land was conquered as part of a war started by the Arab side. It is quite common, after a defeat in war, that the conquering party ensures that the defeated party poses no further threat before restoring independence. Same story with money. Why would Israel, as part of a financial settlement, consent to its suicide? Think Russia's holding of Kaliningrad (link) within Poland as an "exclave". No, please do not remember the land was conquered as a part of war, as records show this is NOT true! Israel should have no say over compensation money or what Palestinians do, it is extremely arrogant for them, or anyone, to think they should. So really you are saying Palestine should be an enclave.
  20. When did Harper say this? Yesterday he said quite the opposite, so please provide proof.
  21. Well, we all saw how Y2K played out, eh? All that fear mongering for nothing. Fear becomes an addiction, those who trade in fear are trading in controlling of people. There is nothing to fear except fear itself. However, being healthily aware, and being active against possibilities is different than fear. The apocolyptic fear mongering is been done for a reason. SARS = more people die from bacterial pneumonia per year than those who died from SARS, West Nile = more people die from Malaria per year Bird Flu = has not mutated doubtful if will more people die from TB per year than have ever died from bird flu Air pollution = man made something can be done if humans have will USA = nation in decline in its last death throes, or Americans take control of their out of control government. Nuclear proliferation = world needs to unite and say no more. They would like to make feel less powerful, so fear mongering exists, when indeed the people have all the power if they would only realize it.
  22. Apparently, the person who could be at fault has been charged. No, it would not happen that way in the business private sector world geoffery. And just how you can tie Brison into this is beyond belief. But hey, I guess your reading an email makes you know more than the RCMP's 14 month investigation.
  23. So, it seem the Democrats are also aware of what Bush is going to try and do, again illegally and without his country's support. http://edition.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/02/15...q.ap/index.html
  24. It is all about hypocrisy, it seems some are failing to see Harper's hyprocrisy.
  25. Goodale denied that he leaked the information and he was quite correct. The RCMP never confirms or denies an investigation and to so in an election is suspicious. Criminal behaviour of individual civil servants does not make for a corrupt or even incompetent minister. It certainly doesn't make for a criminal one. Charges have only been laid by no means has this civil servant even been found guilty. Goodale was exonerated. What is missing from this is: Leading to: Why? So why did Zacardelli lie? And why did Harper and the CPC try to cover for him in the Arar case? The CPC would NOT have got into a minority government if not for this. It is no wonder Harper is being so.... No doesn't he have egg on his face and perhaps even more! Can't wait to see what the trial exposes by way of Zarcardelli's lying press conference that gave the CPC a minority.
