  1. My inheritance will be taxed away so I'm spending it now... Its the mindless ranting/fearmongering that is scary, heck we all know Harper is going to take away all our socialist give aways, and those pigging out at the trough might have to get their snouts out and work a bit harder. Yes, the CPC is doing well and the future looks bright but a spring election is highly unlikely. I l think that spring 2008 offers the CPC the best chance to win a stable majority and establish themselves as the'Natural Governing Party of the 21st century'. - Besides, lets face it, Harper is about as scary as he’s ever going to get, and he must be doing something right to get the opposition so riled up. But then, they always are.
  2. This is a recent study and quite disturbing. Much of it (anti semitism) is subtle revisionism such as playing down the holocaust. Israel is never afraid to defend itself and when it does, terrorists such as Hezbollah and Hamas seem to get support from the left in America. Not to mention the increasing number of conspiracy theories blaming the 'jewish cabal' or something. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2007/03/21/anti-semitism.html Anti-Semitic incidents reach record high in 2006: report Last Updated: Wednesday, March 21, 2007 | 3:19 PM ET A Jewish human rights group said Wednesday anti-Semitism reached an ugly new record in 2006, with the number of incidents across the country growing by 12.8 per cent from the previous year. The League for Human Rights of B'nai Brith Canada, in its annual audit, said the armed conflict between Israel and the militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon last summer led to a spike in hate crimes against Jewish people during July and August. also http://www.bnaibrith.ca/audit2006.html
  3. Perhaps you havn't read the rules about personal attacks.
  4. I guess I am a little confused. What is Hamas? Can you tell me where they came from and who they are? Thank you. I am just a humble student of history. I think you know what Hamas is, but Israel had nothing to do with creating Hamas. Hamas grew as an armed wing of the Islamic fund. Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt in the 1920s. It evolved into a miltant Islamist movement. There is a huge ME industry churning out misinformation which caters to the needs of people who will believe what want to believe, especially when it comes to painting Israel as the bad guy.
  5. You really think Bcat will read anything other than terrorist propaganda
  6. Now that was funny
  7. Well, I know I've looked at the compelling evidence, and after a final analysis of the Death Star Attack, I am lead to believe we are victims of a huge fraud. "Christopher Walken for President"
  8. We can draw the line and distinguish between the absolutely outlandish and normal debate based on the news etc. http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology...aw/1230517.html Sadly, the noble search for truth is now being hijacked by a growing army of conspiracy theorists
  9. Absolute nonsense, just fear tactics with no basis in fact.
  10. Even if Stockie was your darling before getting the boot -
  11. Should Canada get involved, and how is this much different to helping the people in Afghanistan especially when thousands have marched against UN involvement http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4785066.stm http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/is...71-16a7f4683637 The ongoing crisis in Sudan's Darfur region raises a profound question: How does the world community respond to the spectre of genocide? One Canadian group -- STAND Canada (Students Taking Action Now: Darfur) -- believes it is time for Ottawa to take a leadership role in addressing Khartoum's crimes against humanity. STAND has asked a selection of prominent thinkers to write in support of the group's mission. In an ongoing series, the National Post is printing their essays. In today's instalment, human-rights expert and former Canadian justice minister Irwin Cotler outlines his prescriptions. The genocide in Darfur continues. It is painful for me to have to write these words yet again. What is happening in Darfur is to our ever-lasting shame: a betrayal of the people of Darfur, a repudiation of the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine and an affront to the lessons of history. It is our responsibility --as I first said three years ago as minister of justice at the Stockholm Conference on the Prevention of Genocide-- to shatter the silence, to break down the walls of indifference, to sound the alarm, to stand with the people of Darfur. http://w01.international.gc.ca/minpub/Publ...=E&docnumber=32 info from gov. website.
  12. Shhh, don't let the Liberals it LOL notice how the hyperbole heats up as the polls show a CPC advantage. - Notice that much of it is mean spirited and not generally debate. Dion isn't doing well, he has poor communications skills and doesn't appear to have the tough political savvies needed. He's also failed to inspire his own people, never mind the voters who recognize weakness when they see it. The Liberals are busy developing and testing with focus groups, their own electioneering themes and ad concepts - many are negative ads attacking Harper and the CPC, so if these make it to the public, I hope we see the same crit.
  13. I don't think there's any doubt that Harper is moving further towards the centre, maybe simply because he has a minority gov't and has to be more flexible and give a little bit to all. Heck, maybe a minority gov't is really the way to go.
  14. Just a minute, shouldn't this government be seen as squeaky clean, not just stealing less than the liberals? Probably, as obviously they are held up to much higher standards than the Liberals ever where.
  15. LOL that's what I thought too. Guess they have to get the fear machine going, oooohhh those nasty scary Christians, that evil man actually goes to Church. Wonder if the starter of this thread would be posting the same tripe if Stockwell Day happened to be PM.... -
  16. I was wondering that too, how long will they continue to fund it, and will we get to see the results of the study. I agree that the forum is changing and one of the reasons I wanted a separate forum for conspiracy theories, that way one doesn't have to scroll on by or put them on ignore. No one is saying they should be censored, just given a separate forum as obviously some people do like to debate the issue. cheers
  17. If the Liberals are so weak (maybe they are) then why does the CPC feel the need to bash them in a TV ad every few weeks? Consolidate their position?
  18. poppycock profanity - don't think so Tim....it just means nonsense or rubbish
  19. Really, I don't suppose any of the rampant untruths come from you? As for the rest of the smears - poppycock.
  20. Her reason for leaving politics no doubt. Too bad the Libs and the CPC allowed themselves to be used by her.
  21. The right doesn't have a corner on smear jobs or malicious innuendo, the left is bettert at it actually, more practice -
  22. It appears that Indonesia is under siege and on the road towards Sharia Law and with it the loss of rights for women, among other things. IMHO this is just another step towards intolerance and loss of human rights and shows how radical Islam is on the rise, and is a real threat to democracy. http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/...,476068,00.html Indonesia On The Brink? Der Spiegel reports that Indonesia's ostensibly secular government faces increasing pressure from the Islamists in their midst. The Muslim nation may start down the road towards a Taliban-Lite government as radical Islamists gain more seats in their assembly and demand a greater imposition of shari'a law: With 221 million inhabitants, of which 194 million are Muslims, the island nation is not only Southeast Asia's most populous country, but is also home to the world's largest Muslim population. And that population looks to be growing increasingly devout. Significantly more women wear the headscarf today than a decade ago, and the number of Indonesians making the pilgrimage to Mecca grows year after year. Alcoholic beverages are disappearing from the shelves of supermarkets, and in some places those who violate the Islamic ban on alcohol already face public whipping -- a brutal spectacle that is even broadcast on local television stations. Since two bombs killed 202 people, most of them Western tourists, at the Kuta beach resort on the island of Bali in the fall of 2002, Islamist terrorists have repeatedly attacked Western targets at the same time of the year, prompting Indonesians to refer to autumn as "bomb season." Al-Qaida, which is clearly allied with local extremists, has identified the country as a battlefield of the future. -snip- The reference to shipping lanes seems rather significant. Not long ago, the History Channel produced a show on modern pirates -- men who do a lot more than just shout "Aaaargh!" The new pirates have attacked shipping all over the world, but have especially concentrated their efforts in the waters of Indonesia. They have even, at least once, hijacked a ship just to learn its operation, maneuver it for a while, and then escape from it without docking it. On that occasion, they also stole all of the technical manuals but left the cargo with the terrorized crew, which survived the incident. -snip- The West will face a crisis soon in the world's largest Muslim nation. We had better pay attention to what happens in Indonesia, because al-Qaeda has already highlighted it as a future battleground for its war on the West. We cannot afford to let it slip away.
  23. That is something he will have to be firmly questioned on, when on the campaign trail. The voters need specifics, not just hysterics and hyperbole.
  24. I'm spending my kid's inheritance now, and enjoying it.
