"So why exactly are we fighting for "survival". A better question is why do people want to commit terrorism against us, and please don't use the old "they hate us for our freedom" argument" http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadA...le.asp?ID=21364 We gather here today to share information and knowledge. Intelligence is not merely cold hard data about numerical strength or armament or disposition of military forces. The most important element of intelligence has to be understanding the mindset and intention of the enemy. The West has been wallowing in a state of ignorance and denial for thirty years as Muslim extremist perpetrated evil against innocent victims in the name of Allah. -snip- Under the banner of Islam "la, ilaha illa allah, muhammad rasoulu allah," (None is god except Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah) they murdered Jewish children in Israel, massacred Christians in Lebanon, killed Copts in Egypt, Assyrians in Syria, Hindus in India, and expelled almost 900,000 Jews from Muslim lands. We Middle Eastern infidels paid the price then. Now infidels worldwide are paying the price for indifference and shortsightedness.

Its kind of funny how people in their haste to vilify Christianity are willing to overlook the excesses and barbaric acts Michael Coren talks about. They are all too willing to trot out the Crusades overlooking the fact that is was Islamic expansionism and aggression which started the whole thing. If you read your history back to Mohammad it shows that the birth of Islam was first and foremost an ideology linked to gaining world domination - still the ultimate goal of radical Islam to this day. And it is today we are talking about, how children are used as human bomb to spread hate and to kill other Muslims is one method. Christianity and other religions don't hold a candle to what is being perpetrated in the name of radical Islam today. OBL has allready warned us that Islam will use our own laws and freedoms to destroy us, those who don't believe him just give him and his ilk more impetus to carry on.

I'm putting this in federal as it is written by a Canadian in a Canadian paper intended for all the allies, it is well worth the read - he sure doesn't pull any punches. The reason we have to fight Toronto Sun March 24, 2007 Imagine a history book being read by people in 100 years time. In a chapter entitled, Why We Fought, it would list the crimes of an ideology and a movement, Islamic fundamentalism, that became so powerful and so grotesque in the opening years of the 21st century that the civilized world was obliged to resist. -snip- They beheaded Christian girls in Indonesia who were making their way to school. They stopped them at gunpoint, forced them to kneel down and then cut off their heads, the blood drenching their tiny uniforms. They planted bombs in places of worship that belonged to their own Muslim faith, murdering scores of people who they knew to be innocent, apolitical and intent only on worshipping and praying. They demanded that others respect Mosques but simultaneously used them as killing fields. MURDERED THEIR OWN They murdered 150,000 of their own people in Algeria in an attempt to destabilize their government. Often they would slit the throats of children in front of their parents before in turn killing those horrified mothers and fathers. In Iraq they kidnapped people who had devoted their lives to helping the impoverished and the abused, tied those good people up like animals and then tortured and humiliated them. They videotaped their screams and their wild pleas for mercy and help and then slowly cut off their heads with a knife, holding the severed object up to the cameras. They pulled organs from within the bodies of their victims and offered them to children, then ran away with severed limbs as if they were treasured trophies. -snip- They declared their intention to target children because, they said, they knew their enemies valued children most of all and loved life. For them, they boasted, death was more important than life. They vomited this philosophy all over the world, in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and Australia. BOMBED CHILDREN They indoctrinated their own children and taught them to hate and loathe and lust for blood and death. They bombed schools, mosques, churches, hospitals, crowds of children asking for candy, old people's homes, funeral possessions. -snip- http://www.torontosun.com/Comment/2007/03/...820782-sun.html

Iran is being deliberately provocative and on the day before Ahmadinejad was to appear at the U.N. I doubt that was a co-incidence. Ahmadinejad is dangerous and is deliberately trying to up the ante by committing an act of war. Fortunately calmer heads are prevailing at the moment. I'll bet the sailors will be released eventually after they 'apologize for being in Iranian waters'. Neither does it matter where they were as they were acting under a UN mandate and were acting in good faith, don't forget The Royal Navy are there as part of a UN mandated operation to ensure safety for shipping and help prevent and smuggling. Also if they actually were in Iraqi waters, then so was Iran - interesting isn't it to what an Islamic state morph into a worlwide terroriest organization. .

I made no argument that we should stoop to their levels, implicit or otherwise, that is simply more creative thinking 101. There seems to be no barbarity low enough for these religious scumbags to stoop. What is even more appalling is the people who seem to be defending such actions.

60 reasons not to vote for Stephen Harper

Well let me make this simple for those simple minded who do seem to think that U.S. bashing is a national sport. U.S. bashing is more than normal critique of policy, it is a radical extreme, where the goal is not to advise and help, but to condemn and destroy. Those who bash rather than give normal critique only wish to repudiate and destroy everything the U.S. does; they view every U.S. action both past and present as wrong, no matter what, nothing the U.S. does is ever right. That is the difference between constructive crit, and radical U.S. bashing.

Has Christianity made people more civilized?
scribblet replied to August1991's topic in Religion & Politics
I believe it has. If people today did not have some governing force or belief which holds them back from doing harm IMO we would be in a far worse society. I would prefer to live in a Christian society than an Islamist state. I don't consider stoning women to death etc. civilized. I don't have any stats but would it be fair to say that the most prosperous and democratic countries today are mainly Christian? I also look at how the Christians in Britain were a driving force for abolishing slavery and improving human rights. William Wilberforce is a good example. -
Where did I sway I condoned it? I don't like any of it, but when the Liberals sqawk about it, it becomes quite humerous, they are the masters of that game.
-
If the Grits weren't so hysterical you can't blame anyone for feeling they love the Taliban more than our own - heck they should be apologizing to our soldiers for years of neglect. Wimpy ole Stephane Dion says Harper was trying to bully him - aaawww poor baby - Not to mention this just proves Liberals love to dish out partisan invective but they can't take it when they get it back in kind.
-
Note that Reuters calls homicide bombers "insurgents" and the attack "militant" you never see the word terrorist; likely befcause Reuters believes that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. What kind of "freedom fighter" deliberately blows up children in a vehicle, what kind of scumbags could even conceive of such a thing. The same scumbags who strap bombs onto kids I suppose. This is why we have a problem getting rid of them as we cannot and will not bring ourselves to stoop that low.

So you think it is nothing at all? No,the RCMPs never investigated it at the time because they found no grounds to do so. Hart thought that he would be compensated for loss of income and given severance pay for resigning his seat early, this is not a payment to induce him to resign. Not only that, it appears he never got anything anyway and later took the party to court. Obviously the Liberals have nothing else so they are again resorting to drive by smears. They should be careful as the CPC could release a lot more stuff on them.

Problem is he was representing his constituency, a conundrum for a politician I suppose. representing the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario as a Liberal since 1988, was expelled from his caucus after he said he would vote in favour of the Conservative budget tabled Monday. His leader, Stephane Dion, says budget votes, like Throne Speech votes, are confidence votes and, as a result, the caucus must vote as a group. This morning, Comuzzi released this statement: I just want to be sure that the people are clear on my position on the budget. I have had the opportunity to represent my constituents for the past 18 years and over that time we have arrived at a point where our region is in a state of serious transition. This budget contains funds and addresses some of the critical issues we face today. For example the Molecular Medicine Research initiative is essential to this transition. The municipal government, the provincial government and private sector partners are all at the table with committed money, yet the Liberal Party expects me to be critical of a budget that can complete the funding formulae that would launch a facility that has huge economic and employment implications. I have no desire to go against the Liberal Party however this is the right thing for the people of my riding. They are who have entrusted me to represent them for the last 18 years.

Federal Budget 2007: More & Still More Government
scribblet replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
They didn''t leave a $6 billion deficit, that was creative accounting by the Liberals. Their terms of reference for the audit were different, and they also included the Ontario Hydro deficit which normally wasn't included. -
Holland is probably just trying to deflect from his rants about Alberta, nothing like starting a smear campaign prior to an election.
-
If I remember correctly this was allready investigated and all were cleared. The Libs must be pretty desperate to bring this up again.
-
Where is he being muzzled? He is free to vote as he wishes. He just can't stay in the party as a result. That's not 'muzzling' him LOL seems like its okay if Dion/Liberals do it but only bad when conservatives do it.
-
Maybe it was that character on Sesame St. who 'disappeared' them -

That language is uncalled for, but is Harper doing any worse than the many spurious malicious smear jobs against Harper on here - I don't think so.

Budget 2007: prelude to a General Election?
scribblet replied to fellowtraveller's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There won't be an election over the budget, but there could be one over the impending environment legislation and kyoto. If the Liberals force a vote on kyoto Harper could make it a confidence vote. -
Will Budget Solve Declining Population?
scribblet replied to jbg's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What 'bunch of neo-cons and how does that type of hyperbole add to good discussion? Why would we want to solve any declining population, there's too many people now. -
Hmmmm, unless we expect an MP to vote his conscience and for his constituents. So where are all the screams about MPs being muzzled

An intresting observation today
scribblet replied to moderateamericain's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Misleading facts, sure and here's how newspapers twist the news, they are playing to their unsuspecting readership and know that many people aren't interested in hearing both sides. It is always - U.S. Wrong - terrorists right. PHOTO EDITING: TWO VIEWS OF THE SAME WAR http://www.innovationsinnewspapers.com/ind...f-the-same-war/ same war. Two different views. Photo editing for “viewspapers.” The power of choice. -
I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to have a new forum for conspiracy theories, that way it might cut down on threads veering off in that direction. A political forum which had its own conspiracy area has recently closed down, thereby giving MLW some new members. Any thoughts on that one Greg et al.

I didn't watch the whole thing, can't stand rap for one thing, but as soon as I heard the name Phelps I turned it off. They are a totally whacked out fringe group, the members are all related. I saw O'Reilly interview a couple of them last year, one or two of the sisters are lawyers which helps them keep one step ahead of the law.
