May's comments are indefensible because Stephen Harper or anyone else who dissents from the Kyoto cultism are not looking to kill anyone and are hardly abetting evil, there is quite a moral distinction.

Jag Bhaduria that's it, I think there were membership sign up problems at the time also. From: ******************* <**************@durham.ac.uk> Sent: Thu May 03 06:31:18 2007 Subject: Re: Farhan Mujahid Chak Dear Sir, I write in response to your email requesting confirmation of the above named persons study at the University of Durham. I can confirm that he first started his studies from 1 October 2000 on a postgraduate(research) course leading to a PhD, however for the academic year 2006/07 he is not registered with the University in order to continue with this course. He certainly has not had this degree conferred, because he has not submitted his thesis yet and his name has not appeared on a pass list. www.smalldeadanimals.com -
Well said -m the predatory animal part sure sounds like question period; in fact I don't think the opposition have had their rabies shots - think I see foam at mouth.

Bush isn't perfect, but on this one I agree, this is just the latest leftist attempt to squelsh free speech .defeated. Bush Expected to Veto 'Hate Crimes' Bill http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewPolitics.asp?Pa...L20070503d.html President Bush looks likely to veto a "hate crimes" bill under debate in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday if it is approved by Congress. Conservatives quickly responded by thanking the president for upholding "our nation's constitutional tradition of equal protection under the law." "The administration favors strong criminal penalties for violent crime, including crime based on personal characteristics, such as race, color, religion or national origin," according to a statement released by the Executive Office of the President.

I agree with that I don't think most do care, they might if the Taliban were as concerned about human rights and civil liberties as we are. The only people who care right now are the opposition to score political points, and thats pretty darned hypocritical considering their part on all of it.

Gordon O'Connor Once Again Under Pressure

he Torch has more on the man NDP defense "critic" Dawn Black calls to ask "what she needs to know"; http://toyoufromfailinghands.blogspot.com/...er-anymore.html According to the Canadian news media, Michael Byers is nothing more than a "human rights activist," a "political science professor," and an expert on international law. Somehow or other, on a file so politically charged that it has dominated the news columns and airwaves for weeks, so politically dangerous that it threatens to sack the Minister of National Defence, it has been deemed irrelevant by the Canadian journalistic establishment that one of the key instigators of this drama is a declared partisan for one of the parties in opposition to our effort in Afghanistan. -
How does that saying go, if your opponent is saying stupid things, don't stop him? Elizabeth May, among others, are good assets to the CPC. Clean air in our time.

I was simply providing information. I have no specific knowledge at all about the Christian and Missionary Alliance congregations in Calgary and Ottawa, whether they are fundamentalist, evangelical, mainstream or avante garde. Personally, I think it is impractical to attempt to exclude all people who profess a religion from publiec BTW what was the name of the outfit that Stock Day was part of who thought that democracy was against God? No idea, but he doesn't talk about it now, he learned.

Really, so what did Layton mean when he referenced Chamberlain - just erroneous rhetoric I guess ROTFL which goes to show you know party has the corner on rhetoric. http://www2.parl.gc.ca/HousePublications/P...1&Parl=38&Ses=1 Layton questioning then-prime minister Paul Martin about the Liberal government's failure to meet Kyoto targets "Mr. Speaker, enough is enough. We have been hearing those kinds of comments from the Prime Minister for 16 years since he began promising to clean up the air for Canadians and instead we have worse pollution than ever. He makes Neville Chamberlain look like a stalwart in standing up to a crisis. Smog is sending people to emergency wards at unprecedented levels. The prairies are drying up. We have forest fires like we have never had before. All we get are promises of plans to be brought forward some day. Will he bring forward a plan, yes or no?" -

Gee and here's Elizabeth May preaching the gospel LOL guess she's some kind of 'fundy' too should she be out of politics cos she goes to church http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/News/Local/200...141314-sun.html May preaches green gospel Preaching in London about the threat of climate change, Green party Leader Elizabeth May brought herself to tears yesterday, not for children who will inherit the Earth, but for the God she believes created it. It wasn't the first time May has mixed politics and faith -- she says she speaks often at churches. But her voice broke and her eyes filled with tears as she delivered a moving sermon at Wesley-Knox United Church in Wortley Village. "We have a moral obligation to our Lord and Father to ensure we don't destroy the creation that was given to us," she said. -snip- "This is a time for Christians to say we do believe in miracles, in the life-giving force," she said. The delicate balance God created is under assault as people increased exponentially their use of fossil fuels, unleashing carbon dioxide and destroying the forests that can return carbon to the Earth, she said. "We're playing with the forces that led to creation . . . we're nearing the edge of the life force and we're still playing around," May said. She said it's as if the lessons of the Garden of Eden have been disregarded repeatedly and the results are already harming poorer nations.

I know there was a thread on this but can't find it... oh well The Senate has passed a bill to fix federal election dates every four years. It is anticipated that the legislation will receive royal assent tomorrow, which will set October 19, 2009, as the date for the next election. Opposition parties will still be able to force an election by defeating the minority Conservatives in a confidence vote, but Prime Minister Harper will no longer be able to pull the plug on his own initiative (CP: TSun 22 and VProv A8, CG A8, Gaz A12; CTV 23:00).

So what, he goes to church, Paul Martin's a devout catholic so was JFK, people who go to church shouldn't be in politics or have a voice? whats the point. What does that leave us with, devout secular humanists or what. Its not an issue, only made so by people who wish to plant fear. "A recent Liberal "push poll" seemed designed to plant fear in the hearts of voters about a possible Evangelical takeover of the Conservatives.

Part of the 'progressive' smear machine, keep perpetuating it and people will believe it. Actually he might be a fundamentalist of some kind, but if he is, he doesn't wear it on his sleeve or bring it into politics like Stockwell Day did. And if he is, so what.

Conservatives Raise TEN TIMES more than Liberals.
scribblet replied to Michael Bluth's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Money does help a riding, the bigger the war chest the better chance they have of winning. They can get more material out on the street, buy ads etc. If they have plenty they can even hire people instead of totally relying on volunteers. -
Yes, what is Mu ? Not all gov'ts or politicians are crooked, not even all the Liberals - often people mistake difference in ideology and disagrement with positions as being crooked.

Kyoto Targets Must be Met by 2008 - not 2012
scribblet replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not the point. If the Conservatives want a majority they're going to have to do well in Ontario. If they were to start trumpeting that Kyoto targets would be met in a year rather than 4, do you think their support would rise? I'm just saying that they're better off politically keeping this quiet while they're in a minority situation and an election could be called at any time. True, I still don't think its a ballot issue. -
By comparing today's approach to the environment to pre-war approaches to the Nazis, Elizabeth May shows insensitivity to context and history. Her comparison of Stephen Harper to Neville Chamberlain is both demagogic and inappropriate, revealing that the Green party leader is still too green to have learned to control her excesses of rhetoric. Further, her belittling of Evangelical Christians, characterizing their theology as "waiting for the end of time in glee," signals a truly dangerous mindset. The Green party leader, who is also an Anglican minister-in-training, demonstrated that she considers herself and her religion to be morally superior to another. And it doesn't matter that she ridiculed the beliefs of a branch of her own religion, rather than those of an altogether different faith. No Sunni Muslim in Canada should have to tolerate a Shiite politician denigrating Sunnism, no Orthodox Jew should have to tolerate a Reform Jewish politician's assertion of religious superiority, and all the vice versas one can think of. Ms. May is not giving private lectures to her congregation now that she is running as Green party leader in alliance with the Liberals. She is being heard by a diverse public at large on an important policy issue. She should start respecting all of them. Ed Morgan, national president, Canadian Jewish Congress, Toronto.

Gordon O'Connor Once Again Under Pressure
scribblet replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't see why the Liberals should be getting a free pass over this when they knew about it around 2003s They were warned by their own official in Kabul and Paul Martin agreed in Dec. 05 to hand over suspected Taliban Afghanistan's security forces. Not only that, the Liberals failed to include a provision in the deal that Canadian officials would be able to visit the prisons to make sure detainees weren't being tortured. All of this is reported in Quebec's French-language La Presse newspaper on Saturday, did I miss it in the ROC?
