Is Global Warming a Leftist Urban Legend?
scribblet replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There ya go, you didn't read, same thing in the papers, there is no consensus, opposing views are stifled and the hysteria goes on. As I said, this is not to say we should keep on polluting, we should clean up our act, but we/man can do nothing to stop earth's changes. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1316469/Royal-Society-issues-new-climate-change-guide-admits-uncertainties.html http://pielkeclimatesci.wordpress.com/2010/09/30/is-there-agreement-amongst-climate-scientists-on-the-ipcc-ar4-wg1-by-brown-et-al-2008/ -
Is Global Warming a Leftist Urban Legend?
scribblet replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well, Britain’s leading scientific institution has been forced to rewrite its guide to climate change and admit that there is greater uncertainty about future temperature increases than it had previously suggested. There really is no concensus, which doesn't mean we should keep on polluting, but the hysteria should stop while we look at options and ways to adapt. http://www.thegwpf.org/ipcc-news/1617-royal-society-bows-to-climate-change-sceptics.html The Royal Society is publishing a new document today after a rebellion by more than 40 of its fellows who questioned mankind’s contribution to rising temperatures. Climate change: a summary of the science states that “some uncertainties are unlikely ever to be significantly reduced”. Unlike Climate change controversies, a simple guide — the document it replaces — it avoids making predictions about the impact of climate change and refrains from advising governments about how they should respond. The new guide says: “The size of future temperature increases and other aspects of climate change, especially at the regional scale, are still subject to uncertainty.” -
Galloway is an idiot, nothing but a bigoted caricature, we are giving him far too much publicity.

Shady has that right, I bet there won't be any protests wherever he's speaking, but if it were Ann Coulter - watch out!! Free speech is only good for the left when it suits their agenda.

If this is so, then there should be no problem, which could explain how other provinces get away with not funding a Catholic system, in fact Newfoundland did it when it abolished funding for religious schools. A single, unified, school system has to be more economical. http://www.cbc.ca/ontariovotes2007/features/features-faith.html can you imagine the uproar if any politican tried to change the system, the furor over John Tory's voucher proposal would look like a Sunday School picnic.
-
Exactly, gosh everyone just knows there's a secret agenda, they've always known - where is though LOL That just doesn't fly anymore.

Funding for catholic schools didn't come until 1841 under the new School Act for the United Province of Canada including a clause that allowed Catholics and others to establish denominational schools. Davis made a big mistake extending the funding before he left office, maybe if he hadn't done that it would be easier to dismantle it now. Either way, it'll be a long time coming, unless somebody challenges it in court. I'm surprised this hasn't happened yet ? http://www.tcdsb.org/about%20us/history.html

Assuming AGW is real, what do we do about it ?
scribblet replied to Michael Hardner's topic in The Rest of the World
Exactly, opposing viewpoints are squashed as seen here. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/09/28/the-season-of-disinvitation-continues/#more-25468 Saudi Arabia would benefit from warming as the desert is getting smaller, as would Africa, China, and India. Our northern areas would become more arable and of course our heating bills would go down, so, use less energy. -
Normally I don't care about anything the bigoted U.N. says, but in this case they are correct, but we are not acting on it. If memory serves this came about in the 1800s because of religious differences so a compact was formed which made confederation possible. Today there are far more religions who want equal treatment, but as John Tory found out, as a secular society we don't want to fund religious schools at all. So, the only sensible solution is to abolish all separate school funding, how much would it save the province I wonder. I believe the Green party has proposed abolishing the separate school system, maybe a good reason to vote for them. -

You know Galloway wasn't actually banned. Nevermind, he's a moonbat who can spread his hate this weekend, http://www.am770chqr.com/Blogs/RobBreakenridge/BlogEntry.aspx?BlogEntryID=10145915

It's the sun, see, not all of it is man made, it's natural see... just keep stifling those opposing opinions. -

Well, it seems Mars is warming too, and dang, the Inuit and Greenland are loving it LOL http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/02/070228-mars-warming.html -
Yes it is, even the U.N. agreed it's discrimination to provide funding to only one religion. http://www.cbc.ca/news/story/1999/11/05/schools991105.html

No more apology tours !! Agree about the hidden agenda booga booga, the sky is falling crap, it doesn't cut it anymore. I just read a radical left blog about how Harper really isn't evangelical, he just uses religion blah blah blah. Can't pin the religious wingnut on him well, make something up as you go along
-
I don't agree with funding any religious schools, but as long as Catholic schools are funded it's discrimination to deny funding to other religions. We should end funding to Catholic schools once and for all.
-
I'd say you couldn't find a tin foil hat big enough LOL BTW it's not 'well known' about Harper = Straussian values, he's never said anything about it as far as I know, that's just a left wing narrative they like to push along. Heck, do most people even know about Strauss (not the waltz guy) or even care these days LOL

On line polls are not significant at all as they can be manipulated. Polls by Angus Reid et al are sometimes just push polls, depends on who hired them, but IMO generally speaking polls are only meaningful around election time.

Three time loser , is Smitherman done forever ?
scribblet replied to Dog's topic in Local Politics in Canada
I wondered that too, the elite and intellectuals - who decides who is an intellectual or if they are maybe, pseudo intellectuals really LOL To me the references to the elite is the status quo, or in the case of Toronto, the city council which governs by their own rules and to hell with the taxpayers. -
Totally agree, the only reason for the opposition to it was politics and chance to get at the CPC. I was also surprised at the opposition considering the complaints previously, and even a lawsuit re invasion of privacy from a woman in Saskatchewan. I think it's still on going.

Hmmmmm - are you saying you didn't read anything posted or are you just trying to impute words Generally speaking from my own knowledge and various seminars etc. etc. most large organizations go out of their way to design and implement questions and tests which are unbiased. So are you saying that before EE, there were no non-white-males serving in police forces? where on earth did he say that ! -

How would I know, I don't know what all organizations ask or what their interviews are like. http://www.michaelpage.ca/content/80-top-10-interview-questions-and-how-you-should-answer-them.html here's top ten questions, not biased at all. I'm pretty sure I posted this allready http://www.nationalpost.com/news/Revisit+protection+women+watchdog/2903003/story.html -

Since EE and quotas any employers who where involved with and practiced EE went about designing and setting up applications, tests and interview intended to be non discriminatory and non biased. One of those outcomes was the panel interview with set questions for each applicant who is scored by each interviewer. How biased can math be, how biased can asking a simple question on how you would handle a particular situation. As I said before, the RCMP did at one point in the mid 90's put a hiring freeze on white males which led to a shortage of applicants, they had to rescind it. A school counselor at that time would have known of their policy. The target groups need to be readdressed or redefined as women for instance are no longer under represented in gov't and probably large organizations. What is a 'minority' in Toronto or Vancouver now, maybe white males should be a target group now -
I don't see anything wrong with a flat tax as long as all the loopholes are closed and we all have to pay it.
