Guess that hopee changee thingee isn't going too well these days... I suppose when the dems. lose their majority in November it will be a ho hum, do nothing session until 2012. Maybe that's the best they can hope for until then. ( do nothing as opposed to - more Obama ) -
Now there's something for Mr. Hudak, all he has to do is start talking a lot about the hopee changee thingee

I suspect the reality of the court ruling is what prompted some low level clerk to issue the memo which the Star reported as being policy (without checking for facts with the gov't first). Possibly, because companies bring in these workers from outside the country, the employers have to advertise in Canada first ? -

Iran Admits It Could Pull Nuke Trigger on US, Israel
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in The Rest of the World
This is true - You have a point as far as knowing what's true and what isn't. Take the two different stories about the Strippers and Job Bank from the Star and the Post, in this case I would take the Posts. Different topic though. -
Canadian Seat on U.N. Security Council

54 Arabic and islamic nations are a larger block of countries than any other and have learned that they can manipulate who ever does not bow down for their agenda and condemn Israel. There is also the point that the EU caused this by nominating three rather than two countries. The Arabs should never have been given this opportunity. Not to mention that many nations were afraid of upsetting the EU or wanted better trade relations so sucked up to the them, leaving Canada out in the cold. and Is this a surprise coming from withing Canada itself, did you know about this: -
It's too bad that the RC church holds so much sway over people. This isn't really population control, it's just normal family planning, education and contraception. "abortifacients" of course are oral contraceptives which are increasingly under pressure from some groups who would deny women any choice at all. Peel back the layers of anti choice groups in N.A. and you'll find the same opposition. http://www.c-fam.org/publications/id.1717/pub_detail.asp

Because of this blatant lack of journalistic standards on the part of the Toronto Star Minister Finley's office will be registering a formal complaint with the Ontario Press Council, the Parliamentary Press Gallery and the Public Editor of the Toronto Star. About time I say !! -

How about getting back to the topic, and the fact that the gov't says it isn't true !!! -
No surprise there, Bosnia and Turkey are supported by 54 Muslim nations in UN, which is the reason they got in. According to CTV news today, we lost because we are not bowing down to the Arabic Muslim nations many of whom we know, lied to us aboutgiving us their support. Nothing new there either I suppose, Canada may have learned not to be so naive at least. David Frum has a different take on it in today's National Post. He is blaming the problem on the nomination of three countries for two positions for the "European and others" block. Apparently western Europe and others nominate the countries to be voted on and so nominated three countries for two positions, requiring the general assembly to vote on which two would win. Other blocks only nominated the number of countries to fill the available positions. http://www.nationalpost.com/opinion/columnists/Stuffing+ballot/3668864/story.html

If anyone had any doubt about Galloway's beliefs try reading this. Viva Palestina is a registered charity founded by George Galloway, a group which went to Syria to work with the SSNP which is an openly neo-nazi anti-semitic party. Galloway is a long way down that rabbit hole. http://hurryupharry.org/2010/10/05/viva-palestina-stands-with-fascist-killers-of-palestinians/

Hezbollah chief echoes Iran’s call for Israel to disappear
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in The Rest of the World
Hezbollah is often portrayed as being a legitimate peaceful political party, but I thought it would dispel that once and for all. http://www.stratfor.com/weekly/20100811_hezbollah_radical_rational -
There's more to it than Afghanistan and Israel, the Liberals know this as it follows years of requests from the UAE to increase the number of long-haul air routes its carriers can operate to Canadian airports. Canada's access to Camp Mirage was established under a years-old agreement, which expired in June, an official from the Gulf state told the Associated Press news agency. http://www.zawya.com/story.cfm/sidZW20101011000097/Canada%20Defense%20Minister%3A%20Military%20Planning%20To%20Leave%20UAE%20Air%20Base-Reports
