  1. Totally agree, I can attest to that. I've had some experience with this issue and would never use my real name on a public page. In fact, even on FB I use my maiden name, Anyone who knows me well enough, knows the name.
  2. They are not following court orders as a judge recently slammed the police for inaction on aboriginal blockades 'No person in Canada stands above or outside of the law,' Ontario judge says Two senior police officers have allready thumbed their noses at us.
  3. LOL me too The piece has been taken down so it really doesn't matter, someon acted and it must have been wrong. No doubt there'll be umpteen pages though.. LOL carry on
  4. Toto - I'm not in Kansas anymore
  5. Not his screen name, David Jeffrey Spetch he's on CKA, Rabble, he's all over. This is strange, I didn't try to change the font or do anything, yet it appears ?
  6. They are not 'going after' his kids. They are using the kids to make a point about school security. Fairly scummy I guess, but no matter whose side you are one, they twist their message to suit their agenda.
  7. Isn't that attempting to suppress opposing opinions.
  8. He's one of the more radical Chiefs. I doubt that most Muslims would want to be associated with his threats and so on.
  9. Yes they have. If they succeed in 'bringing Canada's economy to it's knees' where will the money come from for their funding, how will the poorer communities manage when the there is no money to pay them.
  10. Maybe we should start something called Scam Us No More. check out the Hummer http://www.stephentaylor.ca/2013/01/theresa-spence-living-it-up/
  11. Pretty snazzy looking Hummer she has there. Leather interior, LCDs etc. Wonder who's paying for the hotel rooms (his and hers). Petty you say,, but when you worship at the feet of 'mother earth' and the the goddess of the environment - oh my.
  12. Well said. allegations saying current Conservative Gov't has done nothing for First Nations, or is implementing assimilation policies is completely without merit. http://www.aadnc-aandc.gc.ca/DAM/DAM-INTER-HQ/STAGING/texte-text/ap_fn_cfng_rep_1327192143455_eng.pdf
  13. She keeps moving the goalposts and I just read that they now won't let the media in. Time to pack up her tent and go home, let the more credible Chiefs do the talking.
  14. I wonder if she regrets this, even as she gets into the limo to be taken to her hotel... The real source of the protest movement including Spence is the accountability legislation, something under reported by the media. If the Chiefs are handed a much larger slice of the pie and the accountability question is dropped, the movement will be dropped. Maybe we can start our own - "apathy no more" There's an excellent article here from 2011 speaking about the conservatives have done with land claims etc. also under reported. http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2011/08/05/john-ivison-reform-of-aboriginal-land-claims-conservative-success-story/
  15. I didn't get that 'two week' audience thing either. This woman is nothing but a blackmailer and could set back relations which could also result in violence. Suicide is certainly not a good example to set for young people, in fact, one of the worst. If the suicide rate increases she will be to blame. http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/sunnews/straighttalk/archives/2013/01/20130103-152649.html
  16. I agree, her dietary choices are her own. Considering the gov't is putting more money into suicide prevention in young native people, it's pretty sad (and creepy) that she would choose to use suicide as a method of blackmail.
  17. I'm not sure that Canada should get involved in anything if this is what we would be helping. Are these people really the 'good guys'. One of other reported atrocities. http://www.dailymail...l#ixzz2GeNQ7yeB Syrian rebels beheaded a Christian man and fed his body to dogs, according to a nun who says the West is ignoring atrocities committed by Islamic extremists. The nun said taxi driver Andrei Arbashe, 38, was kidnapped after his brother was heard complaining that fighters against the ruling regime behaved like bandits. She said his headless corpse was found by the side of the road, surrounded by hungry dogs. He had recently married and was soon to be a father.
  18. You beat me to it. 23 days on fish broth only, don't think so. The article does speaks to the issue of the gov't not making their case strongly enough. Too many people buy into the 'poor natives' propaganda when in fact, the natives are being at best, disingenuous. The gov't needs to speak out now to explain clearly what the legislation is. They also need to emphasize the amount of money they have spent and will spend. Not to mention that this gov't has settled more land claims (among other things) than previous gov'ts. The publicare being sucker punched. It's time to end race based preferential treatment, ALL Canadians should be equal. No more apartheid, end the Indian Act. Idle No More has targeted the recent budget implementation act, part of which makes it easier for bands to lease their land for development, claiming it is designed to engineer the mass sell-off of reserve land. The case for the defence — that this is a means of unlocking potential wealth for bands, and that it is purely voluntary — is not being made forcefully enough.
  19. Yikes, they had me worried for a minute Would this also come under the Responsibility to Protect Doctrine Canada is signatory to.
  20. Was he actually 'invited' or is it just a demand/blackmail.
  21. I'm not sure about this theory as I'm not clear on what it is, but I do have an opinion on why Canucks and Americans are differen. IMO it's because of their very different histories and a different approach in our founding documents. Canada is not based on the revolutionary independent approach and is more secular. The U.S. has the "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" which speaks more to individualism and attainment of individual success, whereas Canada is more about the hive collective as in Canadian "Peace, Order and Good Government and a socialized health care system. No one wants a U.S. style health care system. We have totally different mindsets when it comes to guns, again rooted in the revolution and the right to bear arms. Even though many, if not most Canadians were against the long gun registry itself, there is no great movement to want to be as gun happy as the U.S. I used to see the U.S. as a place to go if you were an individual with a great deal of drive and ambition, a place where you had a much better chance of becoming financially successful if you had the smarts and initiative. I admired their drive and ambition, but am not sure if that is so these days. Just my opinion ....
  22. I haven't read the whole thread and being Canadian I don't really have a dog in this hunt. However, I saw this piece about gun control and thought it pretty well summed it up, sorry if it is allready posted. I thought the comment about still supporting the second amendment while opposing assault weapons is pretty reasonable. http://www.washingto...36_story_4.html
  23. The gov't isn't that good at getting out the message, there are other issues that have been acted on but it doesn't seem to be well known. I wonder if "idle no more" means they are going to start working
  24. Yeah, like when people rain on your parade LOL You really need to get serious, surely you can come up with something better than 'dear leader' <roll eyes>
