Lieberman Leaving Dems?
jdobbin replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Still an early result. I don't expect Republicans are going to side with liberal Leiberman on social issues. -

Glad we have come to an understanding of how communication is done!!!! And thanks for the insults!!!! I haven't personally attacked you but you feel that it is okay to do it to me!!!! When every sentence is puctuated with an exclamation mark, it loses its importance!!!! -
Most discount flights now in the States have made it policy that you can bring your own meals aboard. And then we still get into cabin crews having their toothpaste and mouthwash taken away. They don't have cargo luggage. I'd rather not have a fight attendant with muskrat breath.

Six Nations Crisis- “Canada’s Pandora’s Box?”
jdobbin replied to NativeCharm's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
A military acting with restraint in a difficult situation sounds like tremendous courage actually. Acting like they had to come to fight a ground war is disengenous. The "you'll kiss my ass and like it" is a unique style of negotiating. Hopefully, the people actually at the table aren't thumping their chests and that a resolution that is good for all involved comes about. -
<heh> After an overseas trip, the Captain and co-pilot will look like al Qaeda anyways. No mousse either or hairspray. The airline flight attendents will have icky hair.

Six Nations Crisis- “Canada’s Pandora’s Box?”

So basically you would kill. Once the genie is out of the bottle, it is difficult to put it back in. And once the killing starts happening, the shock value of it is quickly lost. The well disciplined soldier on either side can justify the killing of civilians by saying that they were a threat. Then they become undisciplined. -
Aboriginals/First Nations in Canada

No, it's annoying. It's like me writing like this: WAS THERE EVEN AN ATTEMPT AT GETTING A COURT INJUNCTION OF THE LAND DEVELOPMENT? IF THERE WAS AND IT WAS REFUSED, THEN YOU MIGHT HAVE A GOOD CASE FOR AN ONSITE PROTEST. Now, does that look freedom of expression or does it just look annoying? -

And now you are prepared to kill yourselves? So there is no way to stop the coming war? You are prepared to kill yourself? You see no other way? -

Stop using exclamation points with me. I still think that an injunction would have brought the same results of negotiation. -

It also means that you are willing to kill for your position. -

I don't know that talk of war is going to be helpful in the long run. The Oneida in New York have taken a different stance on not harming the people of central New York and have won their case with far reaching support. If it does come to violence, I don't think anyone can forecast what type of response might happen or if it can be controlled. The bravado of "our warriors are better than your warriors" will mean nothing when people are dead in the streets. -
Israel ambassador denounces federal Liberals
jdobbin replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There are several Liberals who have supported Israel's position. Anita Neville is another. I don't think there is a Liberal out there supporting Hezbollah. I have no idea what the NDP's stand is because they have taken the summer off. -
Don't forget toothpaste. They are even removing it from crew staff.

Two more boats from Canada are evacuating Canadians. The National Post today said that it is estimated that 250,000 Lebanese have left the country. Stephen Harper yesterday that he would speed up the process of allowing Lebanese refugees into the country. It harkens back to the days on 1982 when Mulroney had to do the same thing. It took 20 years for Lebanon to re-build. After the war, do you think it will take as long or are the ingredients in place for renewed sectarian violence?

Pulling out prematurely may be a disaster in some situations (might stain the sheets), but it's an open question whether or not the bigger disaster would be to stay. And, given how wrong you and the GOP have been on pretty much everything to do with this war, well, let's just say I wouldn't risk any money on what they and Liberman "know." The Generals have already acknowledged that if it looks like full scale civil war, they will have no choice but to immediately pull out. The question is whether the Bush government would ever recognize a civil war. -
Here we go again with security. At airports across Canada, no liquids brought on board. Formula and juice are exceptions except that you have to drink them before boarding to prove they are not a bomb. Mmm, nice cup of breast milk! Gel and liquid prescriptions are holding up entire flights and when in doubt, the person either has to leave the medicine or get off the plane. Airline stocks are plummeting and some airports are indicating lighter traffic today as some flights are cancelled or are facing long delays. Hopefully, they will provide some new information soon on this case. They are as unprepared for this as they were with the shoe examinations when all shoes had to come off (and still do in many airports).

There have been a lot of cuts over the years. Some people have losts their local forecasting. They wanted to shut down Winnipeg's office as well and we would have gotten our weather report from Alberta. I suppose we could privatize the whole thing but that would still entail no forecasts for some regions because it isn't economical.

Canadian Soldiers In Afghanistan

There are several videos on Youtube. According to DND, some show operational tactics and other details. I'm not an expert on security so I have no idea what might have been revealed. I think they are trying to have the videos pulled off the website. -
Those links also show that more radical Native claims are not appreciated. The Oneida of New York have no wish to hurt New Yorkers.
