I agree that Canada went there because al Qaeda was being sheltered by the Taliban. However, al Qaeda is now being sheltered in Pakistan. It could be a never ending battle. Canada has to assess if Afghanistan will be able to stand on its own and whether we contribute to stability or add to their instability.

He did go to all the provinces though to get their seal of approval before going to the London to repatriate the Constitution. He never did it completely unilaterally. It really was an all party work. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriation

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/06082006/2/nati...tan-report.html Harper is getting lots of mail and calls on Afghanistan according to CP.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14169253/ NBC was saying tonight that if weren't for the war, the damage from the oil spill in Lebanon and the forest fires in Israel would be the top story in the Mediterranean. The oil spill is now worse than the Exxon accident in terms of size and the forest fires from rocket attacks in Israel will take nearly 50 years of growing time to replace.

Neat. White slaves rule. Interesting times back then.

The Constitution could not be repatriated until it was signed by the Queen. And it wasn't signed until after the provinces worked on the Charter of Rights together with the federal government.

What about this passage from the New Testament? Titus 1:10-16 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision(Jews): Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. Do you believe that?

My mistake. I was thinking they might want to catch the Liberals flatfooted like they did for an early vote. The Liberals have already accelerated the process as you say to ensure that a new leader would be in place if need be.

I think what he was referring to was you saying that Israel had only sent a drone to the north. The IDF news conference from some of these links said that Israeli troops had landed near Syria in a town in northen Lebanon, carried out a raid and then left. They did land though.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charter_of_Rights_and_Freedoms In its decision in the Patriation Reference (1981), the Supreme Court of Canada had ruled there was a tradition that some provincial approval should be sought for constitutional reform. As the provinces still had doubts about the Charter's merits, Trudeau was forced to accept the notwithstanding clause to allow governments to opt out of certain obligations. The notwithstanding clause was accepted as part of a deal called the Kitchen Accord, negotiated by the federal Attorney General Jean Chrétien, Ontario's justice minister Roy McMurtry and Saskatchewan's justice minister Roy Romanow. Pressure from provincial governments (which in Canada have jurisdiction over property) and from the country's left-wing, especially the New Democratic Party, also prevented Trudeau from including any rights protecting private property. *** That's all three parties there adding and subtracting things from the patriated constitution. The PQ was involved earlier but didn't approve the Constitution. The rest of the provinces did. The "kitchen accord" between the provinces and the federal government sealed the deal.

As it seems to be doing now. They are debating the military intelligence that said that Hezbollah could be wiped out in little over a week. They were caught off guard by the rockets. They are very wary of getting bogged down in Lebanon for years. And they worry that other parties could be drawn into the war. It is a scary time in Israel. And a ceasefire could be a long ways off given that Hezbollah might not agree and continue to wage war.

It seems to me that there were a lot of parties responsible for bringing home the Constitution. There were Liberals, Conservatives and NDP and for a while, the Parti Quebecois.

Some of the passages of the New Testament: Matt 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. Matt 13:40-42 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. John 3:36(Jesus speaking) He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Luke 19:27(Jesus speaking in a parable) But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. And here's an anti-Jewish one: Titus 1:10-16 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision(Jews): Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. So if the bible speaks against homosexuality and Jews, should Christians be against both?

Aboriginals/First Nations in Canada

You might be right about an Iraq-like disaster. I think Afghanistan is making more and more Canadians uneasy. How Harper sells that policy to places like Ontario and Quebec will dictate whether he wins a majority. -
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14196226/ The fighting continues while the U.N. resolutions struggles through till next week. Even then, it is said that it could take weeks for any foce to be deployed. At any point the whole thing could fall off the rails. Meanwhile, the casualties of Israel's military is the equivalent of what 1000 troops a day would be to the U.S. according to This Week on ABC.

I said the Conservative want Graham. They are unlikely to get him if there is a snap election.

More Proof of Media Bias against Israel
jdobbin replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This story was reported in Canada. http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...47e&k=17292 And in the United States. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationw...1&cset=true And in Britain. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5248868.stm -
These are incidents. There have been incidents against other religions as well in the last fives years. I'd probably say there was more of an anti-Islamic feeling out there than anti-Semitic one. I haven't any proof of that. It's just a guess.

Canada was one of the countries working on full embargo on the front lines in Iraq. Canada was one of the first countries to condemn the attacks on the United States on September 11 and the first country to take in Americans from that attack. Canada was one of the first countries to support the resolution to remove al Qaeda in Afghainstan. Canada was one of the first countries to committ troops to Afghanistan. Canada didn't send troops to Iraq. That's one decision we made on our own. The Conservatives would have had Canada in Iraq. Think that would have been a good decision?

That link doesn't work. I haven't seen a story for story comparison of the bias you describe. I know some media watchdogs do that for major issues.

I am heartened by the fact that more and more people in Canada are calling themselves "Canadian." I expect those numbers to increase dramatically when the new census figures come out. It hasn't be so much driven by government as by the realities of how people are living in Canada. I think how the Liberals present themselves to Canadians in their entirety will be how they are judged in the next election. New people, new policies and a clear message will help.

How many Christians in Canada and the United States are practising this type of Christianity? Good call, qc.

I'm not sure what all that means.
