  1. It seems Lebanon is trying to come up with something that Isreal will accept but from what I watched from the United Nations Security Council, I don't think they are impressed. It makes me wonder how long the offensive will last. Certainly a lot longer than two weeks. At some point, Lebanon's infrastructure will not be able to support the lives of the people there and deaths will rise considerably. And in the end, Hezbollah will probably still be in existence.
  2. http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/20...arper-khan.html Wasn't there someone here who was totally against the Liberal MP Khan?
  3. http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/200...han-canada.html British General says forces have 4 months to determine if they will defeat Taliban.
  4. That was some conservative commentator on FOX a couple of months ago. Tucker Carlson maybe? Can't remember.
  5. You might be right about a fuller response. http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/200...i-campaign.html
  6. They've never cared about anything Canadian except that we let all the 9/11 terrorists across the border, were responsible for last year's blackout and that Canada's Conservatives are sort of like Communists because they haven't immediately privatized healthcare.
  7. We've criticized both sides when there was a need to criticize both sides. It was taking our side in things.
  8. I'm interested to hear what you consider sexist language and what you don't consider sexist language. If you can make you point without it, then do so.
  9. So you totally approve of this policy that Conservatives have been in suport of since 1994?
  10. Quite simply, if you have a disagreement with someone, don't use sexist language.
  11. Please refrain from sexist language.
  12. It was posted in the Caledonia thread. The activists there said they would ignore it.
  13. It means that political influence which was removed from the process in 1994 will be back again. Perhaps the Conservatives don't remember what got the Reform party started originally.
  14. Most critics are saying that will lead to intense lobbying from many provinces and could possibly lead to corruption. Manning, among others, was responsible for getting the federal government to stop this process in 1994.
  15. It's hard to belive the Conservatives are trying to justify this. I wish someone like Preston Manning would could call them out on it.
  16. Thanks for the explanation, FTA. It is unlikley to satisfy the activists though.
  17. I agree that we are likely to be a terrorist target but it might not be Islamic extremists. I think we could see increasing numbers of eco-terrorists, disaffected anti-globalization terorists and some nationalist attacks against other countries in Canada such as an embassy attack. It remains to be seen whether we can intercept these people consistently. One of the poorer arrest records has been for eco-terrorists. On July 26, I said the next terrorist attack could possibly come from a eco-terrorists. Today: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/20...firebombed.html

  19. http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/20...e-contract.html Another rip off for west? Isn't this how the Reform party got started?
  20. http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/200...i-campaign.html Israel to bomb all moving vehicles in southern Lebanon.
  21. The provinces and the native groups are pressing him to carry out the agreement made by the previous Liberal government. It's a first step to be sure but one he has dragged his feet on.
  22. New Violence in Caledonia http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/07082006/2/nati...lares-aain.html
  23. The decision to leave came during Mulroney's term in office. The reason had to do with a lack of support from the U.N. to long term funding for the force and the fact that for 29 years Canada had contributed the bulk of the force. http://www.forces.gc.ca/site/newsroom/view_news_e.asp?id=520
  24. It is incompetency of the U.S. Indian Affairs secretary. The poorest people in all of the U.S. live in South Dakota and the poorest of the poor are Indians. It doesn't seem like much they're asking for in this case and the government is brushing them off. I don't think that was the case when in Canada when the provinces and the federal government came to an agreement on the First Nations. Hopefully, Harper will ratify that agreement.
  25. I agree that if we want to become a republic, cost is not the deciding factor. What makes everyone in every party leary is the fact that you have to open the constitution again. And as soon as you do that, everybody throws in the kitchen sink.
