Another blow for freedom of speech in Canada
myata replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Are you just pretending or really that? We've been here already. - Prohibition of profession is not some "company" - Association cannot police expression of opinion in a democracy - Opinion in own, private area is not necessarily "public"; your conversation at a restaurant can be overheard by public with all the consequences. Yes? -
Another blow for freedom of speech in Canada

Looks like the Constitution and democracy in Canada is just that, as stated. A nice decoration but nothing to worry, someone always knows best. Only the daily travail, in the imitation democracy. -
We need to grow up past the mental age of two and understand, and admit that a bad choice is a bad choice and that's the end of the conundrum. The third option. Nothing good can be extracted from it.

What happens when you give 50 homeless people $7,500 each?
myata replied to ExFlyer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It's called "biased sampling" so proves pretty much nothing. With enough effort (and free dough, out of someone's pocket) I bet they could find a homeless who became successful businessperson. Hurray, positive result! I wonder who read the proposal and why it still got public funding. -

These are two different questions. There's nothing new to let's throw free dough and see what happens approach either. If some private sponsor wanted to try it, good luck but to waste taxpayer funds on this kind of research is irresponsible. What could work? Clearly the problem is complex and any solutions need to be intelligent and differentiated. This is probably not possible in the current environment, too complex for the existing bureaucracy to implement and maintain effectively and efficiently. -
Openness and responsibility as well, no? From that perspective, the daily circus period show as an exemplar of the politics is anything but. Like, the near perfect opposite.

Except "all" was hardly a perception, neither selection in the study is representative nor the interval has much meaning. What fraction of homeless population would be able to reach stable independence as a result of one-time assistance? No answer. How to identify individuals who will be more likely to achieve it? No. So throw a load of taxpayer dough at a meaningless question to produce a result of highly dubious significance. Great job. Give free money and some people will make use of it and others waste it. Is there really a great puzzle here? -
Canadian imitation of democratic politics has come down to being all about talking, 99.9%. Just check the picture: do you see the better one out of the mediocre at best, more likely loudmouth as much as incompetent? Will a bobblehead with a mouth magically fix deep and longstanding problems of the country? Of focus on its prime objectives: stick to the trough while bashing the opponent, show-style inflated stick? No, you don't have to participate in the mindless show that for a while now serves only its own interests, far from those of the country. Photo: The Hill

The budget is a bottomless well of nobody's cash that just fills by itself (and we don't need any physical constraints here, why?), so what's the problem? Let's study the problems of addiction etc in the future settlements on Mars! -
Pearson, 1956, Suez - Canada Should Leave NATO 2023
myata replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Except if and when one is in a desperate spot and pulling all strings randomly. Russia is burning its cheap cannon fodder to put of the military defeat; but it's also rising the steam of despair in anger at home. At some point, the two will meet. That destination is known very well in their dark and useless history it's no secret to anybody. So no string should be spared. -

Looks who's droning the same agenda chug chug. Disarm, run to pick daisies in the meadow and face smiley-friendly Xi and Vlad, on each side? Some are just naive, but hard to believe in these cases. More likely, someone somewhere is pulling a string, or a few. The kind of patriotic new Canadians" we get by a shipload these days. -
The idea that we can have no responsibility, citizens, parties, leaders that we can grab popcorn, throw at democracy anything and see what happens may very well be the end of the current phase in its history. Rome was a democracy that ended by mental laziness, boredom and thirst for power. Nothing is guaranteed, no permanent vaccines here. At least this much we already know. Doesn't look that far at all.

Sorry, I have no choice but to keep bringing this matter up until we have a clear answer. Like how else can you deal with these funny politicians"? So what's the stance of our shiny new alternative on multiple blatant lies and an attempt to subvert democratic election? Any comments? Or could he be an admirer? This coming election has a full potential to turn out the ultimate in "find the better of the worst" traditional conundrum of Canadian pseudo politics, the race to the bottom. Don't hold your breath.

I support and sympathize for sure. You absolutely should have access to additional protection. Does it justify indiscriminate measures, without any clear criteria, conditions and oversight? Someone came up with an existential, in their mind, threat no checks no accountability and everyone has to march or be locked up? Haven't we seen that somewhere? Think where this path can take us. It's not that hard. Some in the politics have figured out that by exploiting fear, ignorance and entitlement expectations of a large part of the population they can stick to the power. And with the tradition of minimal or non-existent real checks and accountability it's not a great combination. Democracies failed on that path.

How do you know a promising two year old (mentally) politician in Canada? Guess.

Two year old discussion" tricks well learned! Here, a sucker sorry only beetroot or sprouts flavors.

Some countries just can't wait to go over the edge of sanity. A wish come true. -
Shhh... a big scary secret here.. don't tell anyone OK? So, what does our great bobblehead PP think about You Know Who? Could he be a secret admirer, just in case? Sixty cases in a row and not a dent? What do you think... just think.
-
Incurable. No hope.
-
Makes some sad sense sigh ?
-
Sixty cases... SIXTY and one more time... still nothing? Not a single spark, the eyes and the consciousness? Tried playing it aloud, max volume with a headset on? I see. Not a great news, I'm afraid.

Nope, sane isn't possible here. It's not at all possible to have it for those who need it, and leave everybody else alone. Nope. No way. Everybody has to march to the same drum and in the same direction, happily. Heavens help. There were sane places that never had mandates; recommendations for children; and ample supply for those who needed it or volunteered. Not about us, though. Everyone has to march.

Going on sixty kicked out false lawsuits in a row. Still seeing/hearing/memory troubles? What did the doctor say?
