  1. What should be the focus of public education? What exactly is important in this age of constantly changing technology? This article will give you something to think about. How much focus should be given to the 3Rs? http://news.nationalpost.com/full-comment/george-jonas-the-nonsense-kids-learn-in-school
  2. Well, the law professor, I assume, knows all. However, the outdated senate rules are an issue. Duffy knew that the PMO , Wright and the senators at large were not completely certain about the senate rules. But what Harper (and most Canadians) WERE and ARE certain about is that Duffy claimed expenses not actually incurred. Just because the rules could possibly be interpreted that Duffy COULD claim the expenses (declaring his Kanata home as his secondary residence) but that does not mean he SHOULD have claimed expenses NOT actually incurred. Duffy was (and is) well aware of the fact that the PMO and Wright and the involved senators were not clear on the rules exactly, but they all did know that Duffy claimed un-incurred expenses (eating at his home in Kanata was an expense claim!!). And so Duffy played the game. He promised he would pay back the expenses himself, then he changed his mind again , and again, fully knowing that the PMO etc could not really pin him down on exact rules!! Duffy used the vague rules to first claim the unincurred expenses, and then Duffy uses the vague senate rules to get money out of someone, either the party or Wright. Duffy demanded things because he knew that the unincurred expenses NOT paid back would also be a PR problem for the Government. That is it. period.
  3. Liberal and NDP politicians bemoaning Tory deficits also argued there wasn't enough stimulus spending, right?

Thank you for returning the tax surplus right into my pocket Harper

    3. On Guard for Thee

      On Guard for Thee

What tax surplus would that be?

As an actual, non lie response to the op, yes, thats exactly what they did, cry for more spending, and immediately complain about the deficit that would have been much larger had they had their way.

  4. I guess. If you want to whine, bitch, complain....have at it. I was wrong.
  5. I don't block anyone, as it's an expression of gutlessness. Free expression? Here?
  6. I'm tired of waldo's constant bitching and complaining. Waldo, if you don't like this forum, which seems to be the case, start your own.
  7. China is in trouble, for sure. The question will be whether JT will continue to admire Red CHINA.
  8. Not at all. Look what they have done.
  9. Yes there is because you are trying very hard to make something out of nothing. And in y world there are is no such thing as "if".

Maybe we will realize one of these days it's no use making laws. No one even follows them anyways

    2. Freddy

      Freddy

The only people that are stuck following them are the poor and the middle class.

And if the poor and middle class could they too would pay zero tax on there income.

  10. As long as we get someone politically correct to appease you, right?
  11. Is there any difference between neo-conservatives and neo-liberals?
  12. So what? I think Trudeau needs to put a tent over his own circus.
  13. I see you are one of those people who deals with "ifs". Your baseless generalizations and stereotypes bring this forum down. Grow up.
  14. ^And this represents the kind of hostile reaction I have received on this "tolerant" forum that pretends to accept all views. People here had no problem with Mulcair changing his beliefs with regards to what he said about Thatcher, but I'm not allowed to switch because it aggravates the "tolerant" socialists here.
  15. Sure you can.
  16. What happened to me? It's a long story and I explained it in a thread but Charles Anthony deleted for reasons unknown. Basically I realized I had been a socialist progressive follower, having spent 5 years in university being bombarded by Marxist/socialist rhetoric. I admit I was a blind follower. I have recently woken up and now consider myself a non-partisan independent. I see through the lies and manipulation of the agenda driven MSM, especially the CBC of which I was once a huge fan. People change their views and I'm thankful I have.
  17. Not to mention the fact that transfer payments to all provinces and territories have almost doubled since 2007. And still they blat about cuts to the provinces. Now that Alberta's economy is in tough times, the provinces can expect a significant reduction in equalization payments. So how does a province like Ontario with their free spending liberal government, reconcile their promises to the public sector unions when their cash flow is going to be reduced dramatically. How are they going to convince the ratings agencies of their ability to meet their debt reduction commitments? Lots of pain coming. Lots of pain to go around. New Brunswick's unemployment rate just jumped from 9.6% to 11.5 now that all them East Coast fellas are not bring home pay cheques from the patch. Just for starters. The media in this country, are... by and large, a freaking joke.
  18. My American friends think that the Duffy thing is hilarious .....returning 90K to the taxpayers supposedly buying bias in a senate that has always been known for being biased. The media and Tom keep it all going while ignoring as to how Tom plans on funding his daily promises.
  19. Mulcair's proposed $15 per day cost for daycare is a disaster waiting to happen. It sounds like a great program but don't buy this B.S. about how the costs will be covered by eliminating a number of government programs. Quebec has found that their "cheap" daycare program is too costly. Fees are rising and subsidies are being cut. Mulcair has based his numbers on an ideal situation wherein a low level government employee (Yes, they will be unionized.) is monitoring a prescribed number of children in some type of playtime setting. Then comes the demand that each daycare have a nutritionist on site to ensure meals are properly prepared; or, if packed at home they can ensure that no proscribed foods slip through. That increases the cost. Since many of these children will be separated from their parents for the first time there will be high levels of anxiety. This will require that a trained social worker with experience in childhood disorders be on hand or readily available. This too increases the cost. Finally, we come to the unionized part. If anyone thinks the wage scale for the folks employed in these daycares will remain static they must have spent their lives living under a rock. These daycare workers will hold absolute power. Who can contemplate the absolute chaos that would result if hundreds of thousands of parents had to find alternative placements due to a labour stoppage. I would bet that Mulcair's plan only shows the beneficial side of the program and none of the costly drawbacks.
  20. I haven't mentioned any names, whether they are people YOU like or, obviously dislike.
  21. If this stock market adjustment continues it will trigger a flight to "safety" and people will crowd into bonds . This - unfortunately - is when the real mayhem will ensue. The underlying causes to the current financial chaos are bankrupt governments that continue to hobble economies with higher taxes and regulations that thwart commerce and growth all for the promise of delivering equality and other fantasies. Add to this unchecked government intrusion in all aspects of daily life and you get what we are seeing now. Eventually governments - starting in Europe - will not be able to keep the debt Ponzi scheme going and this is when the real collapse will come. Once everyone is "safely" invested in bonds it will be the best time to buy US equities because this is the final safe haven left. US Equities not bonds.
  22. Personally, I'm perturbed by the expenses the union reps incur. They travel to all kinds of conferences and then have the nerve to tweet a picture of the lobster they are having courtesy of my dues. I support unions, but not as much as I used to, as they have gotten out of hand, raising rates and feeding from the trough like pigs.
  23. A nice thing about being a conservative dividend investor is I don't have to fear market crashes. Instead I love the buying opportunities. While other people panic I have a wonderful time increasing my dividend income.
  24. I will get this thread back on track after it was hijacked by hypocrites exposing and obsessing over hypocrites. Anyway, Hackers dump SECOND, even bigger batch of Ashley Madison records with taunting message to millionaire founder of 'cheating dirtbag' site http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3205189/Hackers-dump-SECOND-bigger-batch-Ashley-Madison-records-taunting-message-millionaire-founder-cheating-dirtbag-site.html
