  1. Personally, I don't see why political parties need to spend so much money on a campaign. With the internet, how hard is it to post your platform, press releases etc. on the internet, and for voters to do a little of their own research and actually read those platforms and base their decision on that?
  2. There was an interesting poll from CNN, which says that of those who thought race played an important factor in their vote went for Obama 53-46, while those who said race was not an important factor went for Obama 52-46. So if you believe that poll, it seems that race neither helped nor hurt Obama.
  3. No kidding. The market has been falling for months, but clearly this one day drop is due to Obama's victory
  4. Tax cuts for the middle class = communism
  5. I agree with you on that point. Why give to the poor when you can give to the poorest of the poor? Of course, poor people in Africa and Asia don't vote, and most people in Canada couldn't care less about them.
  6. That's funny. If 7-11 customers are representative of voters, that is good news for Obama. He's even winning in Texas!
  7. You want to tell people how they can and can't dress? Talk about authoritarian government...
  8. I'd like to see "many, even a majority of white Christian men making over $250,000 a year" choose to vote against McCain.
  9. What charities did she give to? I don't see how you can judge her generosity unless you know what exactly she is donating to.
  10. No, I think the point is that he is not a "far left radical". There is something between far left radical and conservative.
  11. Bob Rae and Michael Ignatieff refused to answer the question about whether they would run for the leadership...translation: they both want the job. I don't know why they don't just come out and be honest and admit it.
  12. "The Canadian plummeted farther than it ever has before in a single day Friday, as currency and equity investors around the world still appeared intent on bombing themselves back to the Stone Age. ... The sheer drop followed a brief upward blast at 7 a.m. Friday, when unexpectedly powerful job creation numbers for September briefly pushed the currency up by nearly half a cent against its U.S. counterpart. But it quickly rejoined most other major currencies in their collective plunge against the greenback." link Didn't see that one coming. What I don't understand is the fact that "most other major currencies" are also falling. IOW, why is the value of the American dollar increasing?
  13. No need for insults, or that kind of language. That will get you banned very quickly.
  14. How does posting a message on an internet forum "impose" anti-consumer values on people? Trek is not forcing you to take his/her advice, you are free to ignore it. Is there something wrong with posting an opinion on an internet forum dedicated to political opinions?
  15. Politicians do it all the time. It's not as if Dion is the first politician to fake sincerity.
  16. Fair enough. I don't know, I didn't see the video so it's hard for me to comment.
  17. Unfortunately, no. I didn't see the video, so I didn't see the military uniforms. That makes things a bit more....strange. It's not something that I would ever do...but saying that Obama is inspiring these people to be successful is still less strange to me than people aspiring to be like rock stars/rappers/Paris Hilton/Insert-pop-culture-icon-here....(military uniforms aside )
  18. I agree that I doubt the Liberals would do this to themselves...but to be fair, both the NDP and Conservatives are competing with the Liberals.
  19. Good point. If people are inspired by athletes and rockstars, I don't see the problem with being inspired by Obama. P.S. The video was removed.
