  1. Maybe I'm just skeptical of politicians, but the Liberals often complain when the Conservatives make cuts, and yet now they will need to make substantial cuts. The last figure I heard we had a $50 billion deficit, that's a big hole to come out of and won't be easy. If Ignatieff has some great ideas to save $50 billion, I'd love to hear them. Maybe he could even negotiate with Harper. He wouldn't get the credit, but that should be the least of a politician's concerns. Politicians working together to do what is best for Canada...I must be dreaming.
  2. I've lived in Vancouver and Toronto, arguably two of the most mulicultural cities in Canada. I'd consider myself a liberal (but not a Liberal), and I have no problem with minorities or multiculturalism. So much for your conjecture.
  3. I wonder how Ignatieff suggesting that he wants to bring down the government will affect the polls, or whether many people even noticed.
  4. All the polls I have seen recently seem to show that the Conservatives and Liberals are about tied: Tories, Liberals in dead heat: poll
  5. I'd like to know how Ignatieff plans to get out of deficit without raising taxes. If he has a plan to get us out of deficit, why doesn't he share it? What is Ignatieff planning to cut?
  6. For anyone confused by special relativity, or whether things happened in the past or present, I strongly recommend reading pages 139-142 of this book Then answer the question, did the cows jump all at the same time or not?? If you've never heard of special relativity it will blow your mind.
  7. I've always found it odd that nudity is illegal, considering we were born that way.
  8. Ah, yes. Not sure why it's in "federal politics". Oh well. My apologies.
  9. Do you mean 2006? Because Paul Martin won in 2004. It's true that the Liberals were ahead of the polls in 2006...that is until the RCMP announced that they were investigating Ralph Goodale.
  10. Yeah, the $100 was pretty sweet. I'll end up better off, especially since I don't own a car and don't use much energy.
  11. I'm all for having stiff penalties for all crimes, but why not have even stiffer penalties for crimes like this one?
  12. So you're in favour of having hate crime legislation? Or you'd rather these guys spend even less time in jail?
  13. So we should leave it up to a judge's discretion? I think that's the reason why the Bloc is opposed to mandatory minimums, which is fine, but personally I don't see any harm in ensuring that a criminal gets a minimum sentence and I don't see any harm in ensuring that these three guys get a stiffer penalty for their particularly heinous crime.
  14. All the more reason to make sure they are locked up for a long time, don't you think?
  15. If a guy kills his wife because she cheated on him, that's wrong, but realistically it's unlikely that he will re-offend. If a guy kills someone because he doesn't like the colour of his skin, well there's plenty more people with the same skin colour, so it's pretty likely that he will re-offend. That's one argument for having "hate crimes"
  16. I don't think they even knew him...but if they had some other reason, they can tell it to the court. For one thing, if race is the motive for this attack, what is to stop these three idiots from doing it again?
  17. Umm...probably the fact that the cowards said things like this: "Get the hell out of town, we're going to come back and lynch you," and this: ‘this is a white town and you and your whole race aren't welcome here.' I think it should be pretty obvious.
  18. The queen is just a figurehead anyways, so why would it be a problem to get rid of her?
  19. I voted yes. I'm surprised that so many people are in favour of the monarchy.
  20. Taxpayers are paying for this crap? What a joke
