Sask has a crown corporation as per your last post. Thats lte in dauphin, brandon, swan, yorkton, pa, etc the rural areas are iffy as the population isnt there. -
How will I vote in the Manitoba Provincial Election 2016
blueblood replied to Smallc's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
The provincial govt has to focus on areas out of winnipeg as its a province. One way to mitigate that would be to give city hall more power and adjust the tax scheme to reflect more power to city hall. The province is as such that there is two manitobas, one outside the perimeter and one inside. The indebtedness of manitoba is of great cause for concern as is the huge deficits. One thing i notice is that you see a lot of mb plates in sk, mine included for doing city business. I do think that something needs to be done about the balance of power and winnipeg the city needing more of their own as its not fair for them to have their money spent elsewhere when winnipeg needs infrastructure itself. I think the biggest problem is what to do with the mess that is northern manitoba as there is a lot of govt money being spent up there with very little industry giving back... -

Its 100$ a month for a cell phone which thanks to tech doubles as a computer. Reception is spotty at best and no lte. We also have crown corporations competing with private entities however under the umbrella of the crtc. Maybe having the americans comes in drops said phone bill and puts some more towers up... -
How many people do you employ?? How many businesses do you invest in? Theres more to helping people and contributing to society than paying taxes. If you guys keep up the class warfare, the rich people take their ball and go home. Happens all the time and as evidenced by the offshore accounts. What would be even worse than that is if the class warfare got to a point when the rich just say piss on it and take it out of banks. It is far easier to offer a lower flatter tax rate and have compliance than have these shell games.

Da comrade!! Lmfao How about deep 6 the crtc and open it up to the americans to compete and set up shop. Our cell service is shite because the companies bide behind the crtc as a shield. -
The 1% do carry their weight. They spend more, invest more, save more in the bank, and hire employees. Rich people putting money in offshore accounts is what happens when people like you play the class warfare game and feel sorry for yourself. Its why venezuela is a cess pool and why irelands gdp is taking off...

How will I vote in the Manitoba Provincial Election 2016

Yet there is a crash of sorts in all commodities, yet sk as a commodity province is able to absorb this problem reasonbly well and has a roadmap to balanced budgets in the near future. Manitoba is a lot farther behind and is a lot further behind on industry than sk. The ndp basically milked the province dry to pump up dirty winnipeg which main claim to fame is government. -

It doesnt hurt that the neighbour to the west is on a prosperous tear. So much more going on in both the rural and urban parts of sk. 2 new potash mines being built for 2020 and they arent bhp... Oh and the ndp got shellacked in sk 5:1 along with the leader losing his seat. Manitobans see that the grass has been greener in sk for quite some time now and its going to be very hard to play catch up. -

I also agree its good to keep roads good, but to a person in winnipeg they may be roads to nowhere when people in winnipeg have infrastructure needs of their own. My concern is with a lack of industry to western manitoba vs rural saskatchewan, its leading to a depopulated area and unfortunately as a result all the power is concentrated in winnipeg and the legislature is city hall 2.0. -
Hmmm thats what happens when you try and tag rich people. Maybe their taxes should be lower so that the country gets its tax revenue...

Id say him and pmpm are compareable. I didnt really notice significant change with harper vs pmpm in hindsight.

The hard part about infrastructure spending on the west side of manitoba is that its essentially quickly becoming depopulated due to lack of significant industry. Im afraid crappy roads and closed hospitals are in the cards as there is no population left to justify it. I think the problem with manitoba is that its too winnipeg centred and in fairness as it should be as thats where the population is, but it causes a problem of essentially two manitobas whereas saskatchewan is more diversified. There is a significant difference when you cross the mb sk border... -
I think it would depend on trudeaus polling numbers in 2017 as they are sky high now and it would be a huge risk to leave sk as said poll numbers are too high. The beauty of brad wall is he has a very strong brand and is media savvy. People like him. I dont know if the other cpc candidates have the same likeability as wall which in the last election was important. I think the economic landscape and poll numbers will dictate who runs in 2017.

And associated with corruption...

Nice to see your drinking the red koolaid this go round lol. Harper ran 2 balanced budgets right after being elected and slayed the deficit which was imposed with a gun to his head. It took a while to pay off said deficit as slaying it too quickly with a 2011 election would have made him unelectable as the cuts would have been too much to bear. However the deficit was slayed in the timeline he set forth. However, since harper was not as fun as trudeau, the electorate had enough of harper and tossed him, in spite of tfsas, good fiscal management, numerous trade deals that when ratified will be a boost to the economy. I shudder to imagine what would happen if harpwr hadnt outmanouvered the coalition...

Maxime Bernier? Federal CPC Leader?
blueblood replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The gerald butts campaign machine would steamroll bernier. The whole ethical issue with being associated with his ex with ties to bikers leaves a bad taste in my mouth -
The rumbligs have started for the return of the ratoreux.... http://www.nationalpost.com/m/wp/blog.html?b=news.nationalpost.com/full-comment/john-ivison-brad-wall-sought-for-federal-leadership-bid-to-prevent-conservative-split That was a complete and utter anhialation of the ndp. Even with a "scandal" of a land sale for the regina bypass. 3rd term with 63% of the popular vote. Mind you the ndp should be toast in mb under a leaser of a pc leader. Point is, brad wall is how a cpc leader should be carrying themselves. Its too bad the cpc leadership race is in 2017 as when brad wall balances sks books in 2018 he would have one heck of a job resume...

He was done anyway and knew it. He has his handlers whispering stuff in his ear too. Maybe he was relieved being done after 10 yrs and now gets to spend some time with his family.

The Liberals didn't win. The Conservatives lost.

Good on her for pitching in with the kids if thats the case. As for repairs, i think thats a pretty reasonable expense to update 24 sussex drive. Id say complaining about that is sour grapes. Imo thats a perk of the job living in a cool house... -
Where have you travelled (going to travel) open thread

Going to pop my BC cherry in the wintertime hopefully and head to revelstoke for backcountry snowmobiling. Apparently the powder there is unbelievable. Itll be a big fuel bill lugging the sled across the prairies, but itll be a nice change from the carribean! -
But stockwell day was religious, yet when he was in his high profile cabinet post, he did a good job and kept his beliefs at the door. Just because someone is religious doesn't necessarily mean they are a wing nut.
-
Why not someone from the prairies? We are just as canadian as anyone else. It should be the best person for the job. French can be taught, competence cant be.
-
The tories have clearly indicated to people to be careful about their debt levels and clawed back the size and term of mortgages. The one tool that helps in this is the canada bank act which wont let people walk away from loans. However you cant realistically place all of the blame on the tories. There are a bunch of self entitled buffoons who are stupid enough to saddle themselves with this kind of debt instead of sucking it up and renting. People in this generation need to take responsibility for the actions they take. Im sorry if your too stupid and too entitled to take a 35 yr zero down mortgage on a 500,000 house with a 50K salary thats not the govenments fault, thats the person taking oht the loan.
-
Stockwell day has been done for sometime and is never coming back. My point in the matter was just because they are reformers doesnt mean they arent competant as per stockwell day. As for the rest of your post - spot on
