  1. It's definitely the abusers fault, however the drugs are created somewhere. There are a lot of weak willed people out there and prescription drug abuse is getting to be a big problem.
  2. She cried, and somehow got the deal done. I'm no liberal supporter, but I give her props for getting that done plus the canola deal with China. Dion has done diddly squat compared to her.
  3. So prescription drug overuse isn't a problem? Mind altering drugs cause problems whether they come from the pharmacy, the liquor store, or the drug dealer.
  4. Freeland got deals done and tangible results, I'm not surprised over her promotion which was well deserved.
  5. The problem with the infrastructure spending is that it's too vague and includes "social infrastructure" - a convenient buzz word. My concern is the spending getting eaten up in bureaucracy and waste. The nice thing about the pipelines is that it's private money accountable to shareholders. as for brexit and trump hurting global growth I agree. The Americans are tired of having an economy running on debt and want to get back to producing things for themselves. The irony is this - by Mexico growing as it has, it is reducing the number of people going to the USA to look for work as they will stay home which grows their economy and provides customers for American tech products. Can't blame the Americans for getting tired of waiting for their jobs to come back when the Mexico factories are building for Mexicans and not Americans. with trump getting in, the high tax regime is over and a lot of countries are going to get caught with their pants down
  6. Weak people do.
  7. When your worth 4.5 billion, the only bidding you do is your own.
  8. About the same rate that Martin and Chrétien did sending us there. I don't really agree with the Afghan war as it was set up to be a meat grinder which was a huge expense of blood and treasure. We are in deficit and we can't afford to be sending money overseas on feel good projects.
  9. Trump is going to have to deal with a recession which is due. He may not survive that one. as for Trudeau doing things good the economy is stagnant and now is going to be taxed further along with an increase in spending that's doing nothing. Along with refusing to compete with trumps agenda. I will say in fairness that chrystia freeland is doing a good job in her cabinet position, her and Sajjan are two very competent ministers and rising stars in the liberal party. Trudeau should be taking notes from them
  10. It's 55 million that doesn't need to leave the country.
  11. He didn't just talk about the hacked emails. He talked a lot about other things. The msm was reporting the hacks as it is a newsworthy story. To say trump got an easy ride in the msm is questionable at best.
  12. These things are starting to pile up on him, the pay for play concerning his dad's statue, the significant increase in funds going to the Trudeau foundation and now this. Trudeau would have been better off going to somewhere similar that to last year that was warm...
  13. Timmies gets the coffee and donuts money as they sell them.
  14. Trump had a positive message about the economy, taking on illegal immigration, and dealing with corruption. The msm was the ones talking about podestas emails which we don't know the source of. Nobody knows the source even though Russia, china, North Korea, and Steve from a basement in Silicon Valley continuously hack away at their leisure.
  15. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump my mistake 4.5 billion. putin didn't win the presidency. Not even miss Cleo can determine if international hacking was enough to influence the American voters. Even wiki leaks says that the source isn't Russian. Trump won the election and the funny thing about him is that at 4.5 billion he can't be bought!
  16. Just think of it as a 50 million dollar vacation. Must be some island...
  17. He's brain dead enough to be worth 4.3 billion and won the presidency...
  18. Trump is an alpha, and a billionaire who knows how to play the game. Trudeau I mean Gerald Butts didn't account for a trump presidency and the red tape disappearing
  19. I wouldn't say trump is a real conservative but more of an alpha. I like trumps tax policy and his creating investor confidence, not so much his trade policy. Trump won't waste much of his time on jt and if he did it would be like how trump figuratively chopped off Romney' head. Trump has been a leader almost his entire life and knows how to get his way. From what I see trump has trudeaus balls in a vice.
  20. I agree, hence the thing with Trudeau realizing the new power dynamic and flailing for attention. Trump will be dealing with China, Russia, and Mexico. The only lesson trump teaches Trudeau is the snub.
  21. And quite a lot of young people are making the same choice you are which is helping inflate the property values. In the ag industry workers are in huge demand and very hard to come by, it's hard to get good work as it's seasonal and for workers to make 40k stretch in this economy is too much to ask. The allure of the west coast appeals to so many people which is a big reason property values is where they are at. In the prairies there are literally villages with respectable houses going for a fraction of what west coast houses are, however to build a new one anywhere your taking a bath. from what I've seen a person can make money anywhere in Canada, just depends on what skills are in demand for the area you live in. I can put up with the 40 below weather as the freedom of living in the country and being your own boss is worth it. BC is a very nice province and imo an urban dwellers paradise as you can live with amenities and have really scenic outdoors close by.
  22. It many young people these days have a need and want to be in those large expensive cities and housing values are reflecting that. In the city one can be anonymous and do their own thing, but say living in Maidstone is whole different kettle of fish. There are no amenities like in the city. However like you said one has to pencil out the cost benefit analysis and these days a lot of people are sucking up the costs of living in Vancouver vs Maidstone. Personally I think technology down the line will let more people work from home which will be a net positive for family life. I am from rural Canada and I can assure you it's very tough for someone who's family hasn't been established in the community to have a good time there as the old boys club plays in. That and unless you own a business are the town lawyer, doctor, police officer, work is hard to come by as there isn't much for industry. A lot of small towns are becoming sleeper communities for the oil patch and potash mines. I also see a lot of young people forgoing getting drivers license and purchasing vehicles when they are living in newly renovated downtown areas with the benefit of walking distance from everything. Like I said if the technology from an employer say google let someone work in a small rural community with cheap houses, how many young city people would take on the culture shock and having to drive those same couple hours to enjoy the things they like doing?
  23. I agree, with the rise in the Asian economies and their living standards, there is going to be a readjustment to how the Asian countries market their products to each other instead of overseas. The USA workers will eventually go back to servicing the USA market and Canada will go back to providing the raw materials to do so. I believe right now is an adjustment phase as the USA has been running on credit for the past 40 yrs buying Asian products and people want their jobs back, so eventually the Americans will make goods for themselves again and everyone will in the long run be richer. It's a long and painful process to get there though. As per the election of trump, people got tired of waiting.
  24. Trump has trudeau and both the federal liberals and the Ontario liberals grovelling at his feet and screaming for attention. He won't be visiting Canada for quite some time as he doesn't have to. Personally I think the liberals have made a grave mistake by flailing about, better us to be invisible and let Mexico take the bath, now we are drawing attention to ourselves and look very weak at the same time.
  25. The others were talking about trudeaus frequent trips to Canadian vacation locations and last years warm vacation which is small potatos
