My question to those who support the war, why are we there? How is it in the interest of Canada to be there? Harper had a US PR person come up and see him and by the way the Con are talking in paraliament, they are working the spin! Everytime they get to their feet, they sometimes they answer the question, but before sitting down they remind the country of what a "few bad apples" of the Lib membership did concerning the scam. Baird is totally out of control on this! The country knows what happen and the country voted Harper a minority govt, so why not get on with what they said they do for the country! As far as Harper and the troops go... I think all Canadians support the troops and I believe some Canadians don't support the government who is keeping them there! Yeas the Libs put them there BUT Harper is keeping them thre and their welfare is on Harpers shoulders and the rest of the alliance/ cons!

SUPPORT the TROOPS, NOT the government! Peacekeeping is what we are know for but things have changed in Afghanistan,and even though the Libs. put the military there, this is the Harper govt doing and no matter what they say, its on their heads and not the Libs! So if we ended up like the US in Iraq, with heavy debt and heavy deaths, its they who will pay for it at election time!

The minister thinks hitting the auto section will help the air. Yes, will alittle, the auto aren't the prime pollution of the air. We know alot comes from the US, industry and what Alberta is doing with the oil sands. What she will do is hurt the auto industry that is left in Canada and probably drive it out of Canada to a Third country! Would Harper govt help the auto industry if was in the diffuculty that the farmer's are in. I don't think so! People will keep their auto have have and not buy a new because of the increase prices! I think she should br replaced! I've watch her on C-pac and she can't do the job or Harper doesn't want to spend the money on this!

I've watch C-Pac and I've watch Baird try to justify everything the Cons do and at the end of every speech or comment he does, he slams the Liberal govt for the scam they had as if its justifies what the Cons have done or not done. I fear the Cons could be "cherry-picking" their answers and a coverup seems to be on the horizon. Harper himself is over the $1000 alotment by 450!

There a guy down in Texas running against the Governor, named Kinky Friedman, and he says that it will make it legal if he is elected Governor. He started out to see if he could get support and he has and they are having a fund-rising in New York this weekend for him. He was on "Imus in the morning" show MSNBC. Kinky also does help animals and kids benefits. IF it has been decriminalizated in the US, I don't think it will here.

There's so many avenues of this question, and perhaps there not just one answer to it. When I was growing up my parents told us to look around at your friends and see what mistakes they made in in life and try not to do the same. So using that as a guide, we should look at the US, a super-power military has spent over 300Billion on Iraq. My question is, how much tax $$ are they will to spend? How far are you willingly to go into debt to fight this war? We've been told that this war of terror, Afghanistan and Iraq is a bottomless pit in money and in time. What happens when we don't have enough troops in the military? How many soldiers are you willing to lose before you start to think this could be a mistake? IF the military stays all voluntary and these people know what they may not come back alive or maimed for life, then I have no problem with this. Of course, there always the possibility that Canada will have terror attacks as a revenge. Are you willing to live with fear the rest of your life, look at the fear the Americans citizen has to deal with. I think that Parliament should have more answers to this and I find the Minister saying that we will get them at a appropriate time! What's the appropriate time??

When anyone talks about gun control and the registering of guns, alot of people say they don't work. So let's have some NEW ideas to try to stop what just happen in Montreal again. I think that may instead of registering the gun, PEOPLE should be registered and perhaps see a mental health doctor yearly. After all the saying is "guns don't kill people, people do!" also, semi-automatics should be ban from the public, why would one need one?? Any thoughts?

Wait a minute. This idea we NEED the US to protect US! First , since Canada belongs to the British Commonwealth other commonwealth nations would come to our aid! Second, IF the US did come to our aid it would be for their OWN protection! Just think if Russia or China took over this country and had nuke pointing at the US. They could never let that happen. I believe Canada may be sorry for Harper keeping us there longer than we planned. It will cost us lives and C$$$ since the money for this is coming out of the "general fund" so watch taxes start to go up! As far as the Taliban goes, they were great people when Cheney invited them to the White House to talk pipeline and never became an enemy of the US until they turned Cheney down!

The military is out recruiting right now and you'll probably hear they are in your town, city or village shortly! So.... if they can't get the troops they need what will Harper do.... well he can't bring in a draft until he has a majority government and that will never happen!

I was watching the news and then he came on, I listened for 10 seconds and turn it!! When IS the election!!

It's not just 22% of Canadians that think that, so do alot of Americans and probably half the world. Do you think that's it impossible to plan an attack within the US or any country by some people in government?? Do you believe that Bush had planned in the invasion of Iraq before he was president? Answer is Yes, he did. They started talking about it at the first meeting as told by the secretary of Treasurer book I read. Perhaps Jack is worried that we'll get tied down in Afghanistan like the US is in Iraq and they don't how they are going to get out. The cost is 10 Bil a month for their invasion. Canada can't afford a war like that and Harper shouldn't have committed us there longer than Feb.'07, or at least only on yearly bases. The Canadian military are out trying to recruit right now and they probably won't get too many, unless they try to mislead the young people like they do in the US. Let's face it, there's too many unknowns in this war and we could get in real trouble and lose alot of our military in the process.

No one should be paid to vote, the rewards comes from the government voted in and the programs they hand down to the people. Unless, of course you get a government like Harpers that taxed the lowest tax payers!! Shame! One of the freedoms of this country is choice. Vote or not, but don't *itch if you don't like what is happening in Ottawa, if you don't.

I don't know if that is true but I did find that the country's government has former warlords within its government and they are probably enjoying the profits from the poppies! I still believe, that the uS went in there against the Taliban and its business with oil and not for OBL. We shouldn't be there!

Has Harper the gonads to call an election this fall or next spring? I, for one can't wait for the next election and to see Harper over on the other side of the aisle wanting to be PM again!

Gee, this is a hard one because when the Progressive Conservative party was around, you knew what it stood for, BUT today, the Conservative party means that two losers party came together as one...one party that couldn't get elected and the other, that lost the people's confidence. So now we have what kind of party? IF the conservative are define by Harper..... I'll vote any other party but Conservative, BIG mistake joining the Alliance!

Harper shouldn't have gone ahead and committed the troops to this mission until we had looked at the pros and cons of doing so. I think this is our Iraq, we went into a war that we can't win because we don't have the people power to maintain the same length of time that is needed. Just look at the US in Iraq, they've been there for 4 years and have loss close to 3000 soldiers and maimed 20,000 for life! So what have we got over there between 2000-2700 over there, by 2.5 years we won't have anyone surviving unless Harper brings in the "draft", which I don't think he will until after an election. So, are we suppose stay there until we loose all the troops? We also, don't know who is friend and whose foe. I read that Pakistan and Saudis, supports the terrorists and supply them with money. Also, like Bush, Harper has no exit for this war.

If anyone thinks getting a $1000 per month is heaven trying living on it! Even most parents have to charge something to their kid, unless their high paying professionals and don't need the money! Most rents are at least 500.00 up, depending where you live, then there's food, hydro, if it not included in your rent. If you had been working and loss your job and have gone through EI, welfare is next. There's no money for a car if you need one to get to work because you live outside of the city because you can't afford the rent! How do families on welfare make it????

As one who had their spouse wait in Ont. in a large city from Nov.05 to july06 for cancer surgery, its hell waiting. They were put on a list being good to bad, depending on your need. The nurse told me that if people have "private " coverage, they probably won't get a room and semi-private is not guarantee either! There's just nopaid beds from the govt available in Ont. Most of the waiting times deals with available beds and operating rooms and the govt CAN change this, we pay enough taxes, especailly if you are paying the "health" tax!

I have a feeling if the voters don't see what they think they should see with Harper's govt, you may see when election time comes, Liberals and the true Conservative may just vote NDP , just to put country out of its misery! Why?? Well, why not! They can't do any worse or anymore damage to the country than the Libs or the Alliance/Cons! they seem to be for more for the people and the environment and not rush to war.

That is what is being reported today in the news. It says that Alberta and New Brunswick pay less to the poor, poor meaning those on welfare and need help. I have no problem for a person being on welfare as long its a hand UP and not hand OUT! For those that NEED education, I think the provinces should make it easy for these people to get what they need to support themselves, as far as education is concerned. Lets face it. ALL people pay too much taxes and since the Harper jack up the lowest tax rate on the LOWEST rate, it going to get tougher for alot of people. The GST tax has done nothing for me, the saving I save would be $1.75 weekly, gee thanks Harper!!!!!!

On MSNBC, Curtis from the "Guardian Angels" was on and he was saying thank God Americans aren't like Canadians, they lose one soldier and they cry bring the soldiers home! I guess he's still peeved for being kicked out of Canada! As far as Afghanistan is concerned, there's more Muslims to take the place of a dead terrorists than there are Canadians, so sooner or later we'll be just like the US in Iraq. Now , my question is whose making all the big bucks selling the military hardware and other things a war needs??

Well, lets look at it this way....ALL countries are terrorists to some point, just some of better of hiding or calling it something else, than other countries!

The main important question is WHY???? Just look at what tobacco and alcohol has done to the healthcare system, do we need more substances to kill people? There's more reasons to NOT allow than to allow it.

So you believe that Bush and Bush family and other higher ups in the US govt didn't know 9/11 was going to happen???? I bet you can find hundreds of people who work at the US Fed govt that would disagree with you and show you evidence that it was a cover-up! One example is the fact that Barbara Olson, who phoned her hubby and said they were going to crash into the penetagon is actually ALIVE and was found last july in Europe with big bucks on her. She was picked up by US intel agents and French trying to cross into another country. Don't blame the Liberals for the "war on terror" or the US Dems. IT has been the US Republicans foreign policies and GW Bush that has brought this world to unrest for many decades to come!

This issue is so difficult to find the answer or maybe there too many answers. It seems to me, that the the saying, East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet, explains some of it. The Middle-East customs are so different from the west. I think education are both sides is a must and try to understand each other. What most people want is peace and freedom and there's others that want greed and and power! Nations egos are one reason, I think, there's so much unrest in the world.
