Hardly geoffrey. The accusation and details go beyond that simplistic version you present, and you know that. -

CP: Harper achieved nothing: Chinese ambassador
gerryhatrick replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Also from the Canadian Press on the same subject (a more extensive article): http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...hub=CTVNewsAt11 -
http://www.edmontonsun.com/News/Canada/200...21/2433039.html I think he did more than achieve nothing, I think he set himself up for payback. He practiced a megaphone diplomacy, which is almost always bad. I understand the other school of thought...that he's speaking up and it's more than the Liberals did and all that. Ultimately you have to stop bringing up the Liberals and judge what Harper has done on it's own merits. Will it actually gain ground in the area of human rights, or will it just isolate the Chinese from us..giving us even less influence then we may now have? I fear the latter is true.

The Big Election is Just Around the Corner
gerryhatrick replied to Mimas's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Recall how the Liberals were lambasted by the media for spending money in November, knowing that a spring election was likely. Will we see the same people leveling that same critisism at the Cons? Somehow I doubt it. -
I wonder why you're not condemning the Liberals as the party of Bay Street, the party that only cares about money? I'm reasonably certain you'd be condemning Harper for that if he'd gone there and barely mentioned human rights. That's the CPC trick, blame the Liberals for everything. Why would you expect me to be doing it also? The subject of the day does not include the Liberals. The Liberals are not in power. It wasn't the Liberal leader in Vietnam last week. I understand that it's all Liberals all the time for the CPC, they were told to do that by Frank Luntz, but don't expect me to sing that song along with ya. That is disgusting language. Get a grip on yourself.

Time for Muslim community to Look in the Mirror
gerryhatrick replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Why doesn't it belong in a Canadian politics forum? Can you explain that? Uh, for the same reason that Canadian Tire news doesn't belong here. I know the prospect of a Muslim bashing topic in this forum excites you betsy, but let's be honest. Now, let's try again Gerry. That answer is not an answer at all. Again, why doesn't this topic belong in a Canadian Politics Forum? If you cannot explain...or even try to make an attempt at discussion over this very simple question....then, your comment is simply for the purpose of TROLLING. In addition to your FLAMING. It's a perfectly good answer betsy. And to accuse me of TROLLING and FLAMING for stating that this topic is not related to federal politics is in itself TROLLING and FLAMING. -
We get a fair amount of spam. I've noticed some posters "bump" this up by replying. DON'T!

Stephen Harper: A one mandate PM?
gerryhatrick replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Stephen Harper is definitely evil. He is eating your children: In the kitchen; At 24 Sussex Drive; In Ottawa; In Ontario; In Canada I'm not making this up. I can't make this up. I'm not allowed to make this up. This is what is commonly called "flame bait". It's mindless and pointless, other than in it's design to invoke a negative response. No, it's an LPOC ad, from what I remember of the last campaign, slightly adapted. And that makes you either ignorant or dishonest. Nothing similar to our post has ever been promoted by any political party. Please try to raise your level of debate beyond flame bait. -

The highest court of our land had considered that question and ruled accordingly. I suspect you know substantially less than the court does about it. -
I too heard a guy, who heard it from a guy who heard it from a guy that said your threads are assisine. Don't be an idiot. He was the very first caller on the Rex Murphey radio show on Sunday, November 19th. If the best you can do is attack me over something like that then give it up. He was Chinese and had spent a lot of time in China on diplomacy work and the like. What he had to say was his opinion, and I happen to agree with it. Harper's moves are for the domestic audience (and that's playing out) and won't buy anything with the Chinese. If you want to work on human rights you need to ENGAGE and GAIN INFLUENCE. That's "the guys" words.

http://www.canada.com/topics/news/national...a7c&k=80664 I heard a guy on Rex Murphey on Sunday who was far more qualified than Rex's expert guest who said Harper was merely playing to the domestic audience. I have to agree with that. I think megaphone-diplomacy is a mistake. It's always better to do these things behind closed doors. Yes, the evil Liberals were not able to get results with China, but only a fool would be fooled into thinking this more media-megaphone approach will do any different. In fact, I would not be surprised to see it turn out worse. I will be very surprised if that Candian/Chinese citizen is released.

Time for Muslim community to Look in the Mirror

She's naive if she thinks more people able to speak for them will make any difference. We're in an anti-Muslim period, and more eloquent speakers won't change that. The racists are out in full colors...they've been waiting for a chance to bash all Muslims/Sikhs/Arabs and 9/11 gave them that chance. Besides all that, does this belong in a Canadian politics forum area? -
Let's not forget what Pope Benidict is...

Now answer my question. How would you feel if your kids' identities were revealed publicly as part of a Ratzinger "investigation" if he decided to vigorously investigate? You seriously asked that question before? A Ratzinger "investigation" revealing my kids....hmmm. Have to think about that one. Would I already know myself? There wouldn't be a ratzinger investigation if I knew already. There's either be a cop investigation or a funeral. I'm not sure I understand your question. No feedback on this yet jbg....? -
The blathering about the supposed "global cooling" is just another tired old lie from those who cannot handle the reality (or are being paid to cloud it). And before you go dredge up the 1 or 2 articles that appeared on it in the 70's, don't bother. Yes, a couple of articles appeared, but in the scientific community there was never any serious acceptance or promotion of the idea. The comparison is dishonest, as is pretty much everything the deniers and liars put out is.

Yikes, thats a bit Orwellian for my tastes. How many politicians would be jailed for having views contrary to popular opinion. Let's be honest about the situation, alright? He's not just got "views contrary to popular opininion". He's spreading disinformation that is contrary to science, and through his obfuscation he endangers the planet.

Oh yes, wise. Dehumanize them by calling them an "anomaly" created by "immorality and viciousness", and then add a caveat that they should be protected. Don't think that perhaps the first hateful comment will generate the very kinds of acts against homosexuals that they need protecting against. Oh no. It was comments such as those espoused by Leafless that permitted Svend Robinson to get his Bill C-250 through Parliament to add homosexuality to those areas protected against hate speech. That makes no sense. In order to get support for Bill C-250 Robinson sent MPs examples of what he claimed was "homophobic hate literature" What I'm calling nonsensical is attributing the passage of the bill to that.

Your label is inappropriate and makes light of what truly evil men in history have done, as such what you said is nothing more than biased tripe. Or you wish to make light of Global Warming and the suffering it will cause. One or the other I guess. A Senator is charged with taking care of the citizens. When a Senator spends all his energy deceiving his citizens on a matter that impacts the world as Global Warming does, he is a criminal and should share in the responsibility for the millions Global Warming will kill. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! This is irrational stuff you post here attacking someone. Charging him for a crime for something that has not happened and what is more. You convict him for a future event! Actually many deaths have already been attributed to Global Warming. Inhofe is behaving in a manner that is consistent with criminal endangerment of others and I would fully support charges against him. If I tell you a bridge is safe to cross when I know it is not, should I not be charged when you are killed?
