  1. Your label is inappropriate and makes light of what truly evil men in history have done, as such what you said is nothing more than biased tripe. Or you wish to make light of Global Warming and the suffering it will cause. One or the other I guess. A Senator is charged with taking care of the citizens. When a Senator spends all his energy deceiving his citizens on a matter that impacts the world as Global Warming does, he is a criminal and should share in the responsibility for the millions Global Warming will kill.
  2. Oh yes, wise. Dehumanize them by calling them an "anomaly" created by "immorality and viciousness", and then add a caveat that they should be protected. Don't think that perhaps the first hateful comment will generate the very kinds of acts against homosexuals that they need protecting against. Oh no.
  3. And don't forget two-stepping around the media. And of course this latest bombshell....changing the accountability act so the illegal campaign contributions they took in are no longer illegal!
  4. There are limits on how much you can contribute, so they would have had 1.7 million less to spend on the campaign, yes.
  5. Gee, that they're not stealing money from us? No Liberal MP stole money from us. And don't think that breaking election finance rules isn't stealing money in a very real sense. They can change their law, but they still need to face the music for what happened....accident or not. Unless the next trick is to try and make their loophole retroactive!
  6. Hitler, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Mao, Stalin, Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, Osama Bin Laden, and Mussolini, all evil men. Some guy who believes Global Warming a hoax, not really evil. But it's not just that he believes it, he spreads it. Whether it's intentionally dishonest or just ignorance and ideology I don't care. His efforts endanger us through the delaying effect they have.
  7. What is this shite? Another anti-american rant dressed up as commentary. Try again. How is that anti-American? In now way did he disparage Americans. The political correctness concerning America is a little out of hand.
  8. What is the point of this thread?
  9. Whoa strawman. Like I said, I don't believe these to be a religious symbol. I don't regard a cresent moon on a Halloween display a Muslim symbol. That's like saying hot-cross buns at a bake sale aren't a Christian symbol. Uh, yes of course not. The context of a moon in a Halloween display is obviously not religious. It's not representative of Muslims in the least, anymore than a bake sale item is representative of Christians. The crosses on the board are representative of a religion, however.
  10. So you'd ban all visible religious expresion on kids bodies. A little girl with a cross necklace would have to remove it Yes, if it was visible, to a certain age range where I believe it's a personal expression and I'd have problems with controlling that. Well then you're obviously in favor of getting rid of these Christian crosses from the bulliten board.
  11. Noticed the exaggeration, but you got it backwards. You'd have to denounce August as pro-Harper, not anti. It's a very pro-Harper topic, cleverly disguised!
  12. La Presse Are you able to translate this quote that presents Harper as insane?
  13. If I posted anything even close to this on the opposing end the cries and wails of ANTI-HARPERISM would ring loud. Posters would come out of hiatus to denounce me.

  15. By that logic, headscarves and kirpans must be banned from public schools as they represent religion too. If your willing to go there, I'm willing to agree. As long as your fine with Christian kids having to take off their cross jewelry also. In a public school, I think that's a reasonable expectation if they wear it outwardly. If it's a small cross under their shirt, who cares... if it's a honking 10 footer, then yes, it has little place in a public school. I do disagree that the crosses from Flanders is a Christian symbol though gerry, I don't follow your logic there. But the challange was that kids should have to give up their non-Christian personal symbols/outer wear because of this. Many Christians wear earring and necklace crosses. They're not "honking 10 footer", but that doesn't matter..they're visible. The cross is a Christian symbol. I don't know how you can't follow that logic. I understand that the context of the cross in this case is the Flanders poem, but that doesn't change the simple reality. My personal opinion is that this was handled poorly. They should have left the exhibit alone. The mistake had been made and the harm caused to the kids by trying to fix it far outweighed any possible harm from "offending" any kids with the display!

  17. Why? The outcomes help the policy goals of both our governments. Quite simply because the Global Warming issue deserves better treatment than that. You're not a dummy Geoffrey, I know you know what the reality of Global Warming is.
  18. Did anyone see her hair today? Fantastic.
  19. Not a smart way to treat an ally. Indeed gerry. As two often opposed individuals, could we see the benefit of negotiations with France? If our greenhouse gases are really that big deal, we make an arrangement that for every dollar we spend on emission reduction, they spend on supporting the real mission in Southern Afghanistan? I believe that to be a fair compromise, and a move towards a better sense of international co-operation. What you propose is connecting two unrelated issues in a bargaining manner as part of our international relations. Put up more troops to Afghanistan, or we won't work on GHG reduction. That's a depressing stance.
  20. Not a smart way to treat an ally Sick humor.
  21. A cross is not "our tradition" though blueblood, it's a Christian symbol. The term "our" may be true for you, but it's not true for many others. Canadian schools should not promote any religion over another. You obviously cannot read, because as someone on this thread has already stated that the poem was written to ensure that people never forgot about the sacrifices these brave men and women made so that we would have the rights we now have. I can read just fine thankyou. The poem is not relavent to the issue, which is a seperation of religion from our schools. It doesn't matter what you think they represent, they represent the Christian religion. Perhaps it's you who cannot read, because as someone on this thead already stated this is an example of non-political correctness. The politically correct thing would have been to not remove the crosses.
  22. YOu accuse me of "hate" and "bile" and openly lobby for my removal from the forum, and now YOU are reporting ME. That's rich. Greg, please lock this thread. You were right, it's proving to be too much for the flamers.
  23. I swore at a poster after I was accused of wanting Canada to lose in Afghanistan. I did not "go to swearing" and then maintain that for a whole month. Don't read my posts and don't post to me, but don't think that you can pick up where others left off and begin attacking me all over the forum. The forum is not the place for your personal sniping at me.
  24. Great news, not unexpected. The lead will continue to grow after Bob Rae is made leader and Canadians get a good look at him. They did in Ontario already, and he looked awful nasty. He's an unpopular failed premier, why do you think he is to be elected? He recently polled well in Ontario, and he's been adressing that issue (kind of a "I did what I had to do at the time" thing). I don't think that's as huge a deal as some people might hope.
