CARNEY's SOCIALIST message to tax the heavy polluters - meaning, the JOB-MAKING companies - will be reason enough to say goodbye to many so-called, "heavy polluters!" Carney is as good as to have swept businesses off Canada, moving them to the USA! 😁 There is no carbon tax in the USA! The USA isn't doing any insane climate-change policies! That alone, would be such an inviting proposition to many businesses! There'll be an exodus of businesses to the USA! Heck, it will be a golden age for businesses in the USA, too! And........ People will follow where businesses go Figure it out! It's heartbreaking seeing where this will leave us. We can't blame Trump! He's the President of the USA.............and he's fighting to make his nation to be on top of the world. He's putting America first! he made no secret about his intention! AMERICA FIRST, was and is, his battle cry! We can only blame ourselves for the kind of leaders we choose. Who gave Trudeau the second term? Who among you is even considering to vote for Trudeau's chosen successor?

Let this be a huge WAKE-UP call to CANADA! We shouldn't be dependent in such a big way to any other nations........after all, we're one of the 4ichest nations in the world (with our natural resoyrces). It's now time for all CANADIANS to come together and demand that we start developing our own! Unfortunately, we're coming late to the ball-game. See the difference between a VISIONARY leader like Trump, from a "reactionary" one like the Liberals. Our pain has just begun. What do you think will happen to businesses in Canada......now that Trump had issued an invitation to all businesses in the world, and also had threatened them with huge tariffs if they don't manufacture in the USA? How many businesses will leave us.............and move to the USA? If USA becomes the land of opportunity again - how many professionals and skilled workers are we going to lose? You think we can hang on to our surgeons, doctors, nurses, dentists, hi-tech, etc....?

Hahaha - he's got himself in this mire, and he couldn't shake Trump off. Take note that the day after Trudeau had said to the media that he would retaliate, that TRUMP addressed it right away the very next day and pulled the rug right from under Trudeau by saying, NOTHING CAN CHANGE HIS DECISION, and promptly issued a warning that he'll raise the tariff even higher if we retaliate in any way. Ford and other politicians had always stated to the media they would retaliate................but Trump didn't respond to them. he just ignored them. It was different though, when it came from Trudeau.

Melania/Justin photograph being taken as something more than just that, is the likes that Hollywood gossip is made of. Like this one: Melania Trump and Gavin Newsom's kiss in LA has Internet wondering if he gets ‘more affection’ than POTUS https://news.meaww.com/melania-trumps-kiss-with-gavin-newsom-has-fans-speculating-how-receptive-she-was-to-him Trump is used to that kind of media tactic. He might have been irritated by the media's sensationalizing it, but I don't think it was a reason for him to be venting on Trudeau. It goes waaaaay deeper than that. Trudeau has been b*tchy and meddled in US politics - his barbs pointed at Trump - since 2015. Remember Trudeau, issuing an open invitation to all refugees and migrants of the world, to come to Canada, right after Trump had banned Muslims from some Muslim countries in the USA? Until Trudeau goes away.......... I think we'll continue to be the punching bag. Trudeau insulted Trump for years, now places are reversed Trudeau has spent years attacking Trump to boost his own political fortunes, so why are Canadians upset that Trump is returning the favour? Since 2015 when Trump announced his bid to Make America Great Again (MAGA) by seeking the American presidency, the term MAGA has been used in Canada’s Parliament 127 times. Of those 127 mentions, 122 have been since the start of the 2023 fall session of the House of Commons and 115 of them have been by Liberal MPs. In the Commons, Trudeau has accused the Poilievre Conservatives of adopting MAGA policies on Ukraine, housing and climate change. He’s also taken several shots at the MAGA movement in news conferences and media interviews. https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/trudeau-insulted-trump-for-years-now-places-are-reversed

It's kinda like poking a tiger with a stick....the more we retaliate, Trump will probably even make an example of Canada to the world. We'll truly become the punching bag! I still think there's personal animosity that Trump feels towards Trudeau. It's personal. When Trudeau got on camera two days ago and threatened retaliation, that's when Trump said nothing can change the outcome of his decision! And Trump threatened to raise the tariff even more if Canada retaliates in any way. The more they get on camera and start chest-beating, it'll only make Trump dig in.
-
hahaha - they think we can go on a pissing contest! I wonder what they'll do if Trump counters our retaliation with an even bigger tariff? Raise our tariff too? We go on a pissing contest if we got a humongous bladder! 🤣 What's hurting is simply our ego and our pride.............for having to be told by a "bully" to smarten up and secure our border! 😁 Lol - we can't eat pride and ego! If many Canadians are already hurting now without the tariff.....just imagine how it'll be!
-
From your point of view, our border is secure. But not according to Trump's. I still remember the family who walked from Canada to the US and froze to death on the way. Border security doesn't involve only walking illegals. Lax immigration vetting could also be a problem. We have several terrorists who managed to enter our country......right?
-
Supposing we retaliate with a counter tariff - are we able to withstand an even bigger tariff from the US? I mean, retaliation can be an effective tool........................ONLY IF YOU CAN FACE THE COUNTER, AND SUSTAIN IT. Just remember - it's the little people - you and I - who will face and experience the pain.
-
You're speculating! Tell me - what is the downside of securing our border? Btw, there is a real trade talk coming in April. This 25% tariff is apparently separate from that! I'm thinking - if we have a border czar working with the US border czar - we might see the 25% tariff come down or even scrapped by the time April comes around.
-
Danielle Smith has the practical solution to this tariff threat. Instead of threatening Trump with a counter tariff on American goods, we should show Trump that we are serious with meeting the demand on border security. She's right in saying that we should appoint a border czar, who'll work with the US counterpart. Surely, you don't expect us to win a tit-for-tat? Especially when Trump already threatens to increase the tariff if Canada retaliates in any way.

Chrystia Freeland calls for summit of nations targeted by Trump
betsy replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I wouldn't say, "never." Maybe, not with the Biden admin. PM Modi speaks to 'dear friend' Trump: 'We are committed to a trusted partnership' Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with US President Donald Trump discussed bilateral relations during their telephonic conversation. This was PM Modi's first conversation with Trump since the US President began his second term in office. https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/pm-modi-speaks-to-us-president-donald-trump-on-phone-2670944-2025-01-27 Today, President Donald J. Trump held a productive call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India. The two leaders discussed expanding and deepening cooperation. They also discussed a range of regional issues, including security in the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe. The President emphasized the importance of India increasing its procurement of American-made security equipment and moving toward a fair bilateral trading relationship. The leaders discussed plans for Prime Minister Modi to visit the White House, underscoring the strength of the friendship and strategic ties between our nations. Both leaders emphasized their commitment to advance the U.S.-India strategic partnership and the Indo-Pacific Quad partnership, with India hosting Quad Leaders for the first time later this year. https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/2025/01/readout-of-president-donald-j-trumps-call-with-prime-minister-modi-of-india/ -
Chrystia Freeland calls for summit of nations targeted by Trump
betsy replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No - it's not a new ball game. It's the OLDEST ball game among tribes and nations since the beginning of time. Someone's gotta be the top dog. That's the reality. Canada isn't in the running of becoming it. It's either China or the USA. I'd rather for it to be the USA. -
Forget the race! It's really only FREELAND vs CARNEY...............and CARNEY is Trudeau's "chosen one" to succeed him. All the other contenders will drop out, and throw their supprt on Carney. We already had one dropping out and supporting Carney! Carney will be the leader of Trudeau's Liberal Party. The race is just a way to buy some time.

Promises given, promises kept.

You're losing your perspective........going un-hinged. TDS does have that effect on the anti-Trumpers. This thread will feature the promises that he delivers. You should skedaddle out of this thread..........if it makes you go nuts. No one's forcing you to keep reading. I mean, it doesn't make sense for you to be slamming me simply for adding the tariff to the list. 😁 -
Chrystia Freeland calls for summit of nations targeted by Trump
betsy replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Also there's the downside that we could become perceived as an "enemy" of Trump/the USA........and there will be nations that'll cuddle up with the USA. Like INDIA. Israel. Asia depends on the USA against China. Unfortunately, we have to face the fact that we don't have the clout...........and we've let ourselves to be dependent on others. Of course, Trudeau has alienated nations too, with his sanctimonious posturing. -

This isn't really about trade. Trump wants to put America as the undeniable "top dog" among all nations. I think that's his main goal. He's shown how he thinks, 3 months ago in this interview. he recently put that in motion at the last WEF...............when he invited businesses to build in the USA,or face tariff. -

Promises given, promises kept.

I can understand folks reacting to these promises. Especially the tariff on us. Whether you agree with him or not, isn't the issue. Whether his staff agrees with him or not, isn't the issue. This thread simply catalogues the promises given by US President Trump during the election campaign, and the ones he has kept. -

Megyn Kelly is joined by Turning Point USA's Charlie Kirk, host of The Charlie Kirk Show, to talk about the shocking new video showing the moment of impact of the D.C. plane and helicopter crash, speculation about intentionality, the "not normal" situation at that air traffic control tower that night, and more. -

Elon not allowed in the White House anymore
betsy replied to godzilla's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
😁 Power struggles within empires, is just the norm. Remember how it was with Biden, when he was pushed out? There was the pro-Biden faction against the pro-Obamas! Lol - You folks get excited over nothing. Get excited if Musk has been tossed out of his role.
