It would be interesting to know just how many illegal immigrants there would be in the USA if they had deliberately sloppy border controls and a lax immigration-policy like the EU does. The crime-rate in the USA is already notoriously high. Just imagine if they let anyone in who so wishes as the EU does.

There's no way they're going to allow Trump to become the Republican candidate. Anything will be dug to find some scandal to drop him. If nothing else helps they will resort to rigging the ballots just to topple Trump. They could let someone like Trump to be their candidate in circumstances where there would be a popular incumbent President seeking re-election and someone must sacrifice himself to offer a formal opposition just like Dole in 1996. But not this time around when there's going to be a new President and the White House is for the Republicans to be snatched if only they could find an electable candidate which Trump most certainly isn't.

I must admit that despite 9/11 still every time I spot a headline "massacre in the USA" my first thought is that it is either some school-shooting or anti-abortion lunatics. In Switzerland a lot of adult males have an assault rifle at home. It's got something to do with mobilizing the army as soon as possible if a need arises. One would imagine that news of massacres would therefore be very common in that country. However, that never happens.

If any US-government tries to take away guns from people there would be a rebellion if not an outright civil-war. That's why no government over there is foolish enough to attempt to do that.

I can't believe that Americans are going to elect Hillary as their next President but they will if the alternative is Trump. The reason why Trump is doing so well in the polls because he has revealed how useless and clueless the other Republican candidates are. He has wiped the floor with them. What's wrong with politicians these days? How come they are so mediocre the world over?

The Russian plane was according to some news-reports 17 or 27 seconds in the Turkish air-space. Not long enough for anyone to be able to make a decision to down it before it has exited the air-space. The Russians have suffered two major blows in a short time now; first the alleged terrorist attack destroying the Russian passenger-plane in Egypt and now this. Putler is getting very angry.

Ever since WW II when Presidential term-limit was introduced it's been only once that a two-term President has been followed by a President of the party of the leaving president. That was of course in 1988 when Bush sr succeeded Reagan. Gore was extremely close but didn't quite make it. It is usual that after two terms of people fall for the age-old change-hype and not only elect a new President but from a different party than the leaving President. That is one factor which speaks in favour of the Republicans winning this time. However, they really need to find someone else than Trump. The reason Trump is doing so well in the polls is not because he is so good but much rather because the others are so dismally low quality candidates. Trump is doing well because he can make his opponents look foolish indeed as it seems that unlike Trump they can hardly utter a single sentence without reading it from a teleprompter.

Your political system in Canada, though being far from perfect, is definitely better than that of the USA which is a plutocracy.

The whole thing will be forgotten in due course. Trust me, if there was ever a time that pondering which electoral-system to use was the most urgent issue facing the country then you would have finally reached some sort of utopia or collective happiness.

Just think about it; if there was a terrorist attack killing say 100 people every week in any major European city that would still only be 5200 people a year. In other words a trickle in the ocean. But if that really was the case that there was an attack every week in London, Paris, Berlin, Brussels there would be such panic, chaos and fear that people would accept any kind of security-measures to combat terrorism. I'm just saying that some people may be cheering this development.

That French president Hollande must break all the world records of being the most chickenshit president imaginable. That was shown already in January during the Charlie Hebdo-attacks but especially now; he has probably soiled himself.
