  1. You assume I am a capital "L" Liberal. I am just liberal minded, doesn't mean I support the Liberal Party of Canada. Betsy was correct however when she said many Liberals didn't vote because of Dion. Imagine what will happen when liberals DO get a decent leader and go back to voting... LOL If (when?) a coalition is formed Dion will not be the leader of it. The Liberal Party knows (they must know! they'd better know!) that they lost the election because of him.
  2. no Johnny she's not delusional... Betsy's "conservative" math is correct in her mind -- conservatives tend to believe that they "require" considerably less education than their more liberal counterparts and thus 37% (or so) is considered "most" to them and they are ok with that. 50%, 30% what's the diff? If it's good enough for Betsy, it ought to be good enough for everybody, you betcha, gosh darn it all anyway! (A client of mine is having a 50% off sale... for conservatives the savings is only 30%, but they are ok with that. Half off is half off even when it's only a third!) Never mind that 63% (or so) of Canadian voters DIDN'T vote for Harper...
  3. A brindle pit! and they could name her Lipstick! I like big dogs, IMO they tend to become members of the family rather than a "baby" that needs to be "waited on". We had lab mixes - calm, good with kids, protective, smart.
  4. The world will cry when all the computerized cars go "kaput" when the sun shoots out an EMP someday! LOL My father has an old 74 VW beetle and it will be mine to restore one day. I've been begging for that car since I turned 16 but it's his "baby". He did let me drive it tho! On my old 76 Civic, I did the oil changes, spark plugs, etc myself. Thanks to my bro who taught me how to read a Chilton manual.
  5. I have lived a charmed life. I have never had anyone do harm to me and I have never purposely harmed another person (emotionally or physically). Instead of lamenting tough times a person must learn and move on. Back to topic: I hope the Obama family gets a Lab cross. Labs are great dogs, loyal and energetic. I really don't want to see them with a shivering little rat-like-dog (chiuahua or shitzu)
  6. I am white mutt (or hybrid if you so choose ). So what? I do not need to "call" myself any other race just to fit in with a certain "crowd". When I was a young child, my uncle beat my mom up (his sister) so yes, I am glad he is gone. How does that (in your mind) make me a bitter person? A bitter person is one who laments his/her life and the choice he/she made. I lament nothing in my life. His death and the way he led his life had nothing to do with me so how could it make me bitter? Leaders generally don't become bitter as they make their own choices. Bitter people have let others make their choices for them and twist themselves to "fit" in with a certain "crowd" to attain "acceptability". I don't twist - I lead.
  7. Thanks for the blessing -- you religious types really go for that "god bless you" stuff eh? I knew you hadn't abandoned me! I knew you were still my greatest fan! *hugs to you* Bitter? Ha! I have an absolutely beautiful life. Do you truly believe that one bad family member can ruin your life and make you bitter forever? You poor thing. On topic... do you think Obama's "mutt" comment was inappropriate? Cheers!
  8. The part itself was $545. The rest was labour and taxes. These newfangled computerized cars are a pain. Normally my brother (backyard mechanic for-ever) would have done it but the computer "sensor" made it impossible for him to do so. He did use his cool toy, the "OBD reader" but it came up with nothing... and my check engine light never came on. Just got off work and the car sounded like it was running on two or three cylinders (really rough) and wouldn't stay running. We used to have an old 78 Ford pickup -- we should've kept it -- no computer! LOL
  9. No Oleg, you have overcome nothing. You remain a bitter human being and will more than likely die a bitter human being. After all, so many percieved injustices have "happened" to you. You screwed a young pretty thing and made her a bitter housewife. Now she is in her forties and you have no use for her. Yet YOU are bitter? Pfft. And no, one black (or two) drunk in Toronto does not represent Obama. Are you white? My drunk bastard uncle was white -- so shall I conclude that because you are white and male, that you are a drunk bastard? Does my uncle (now dead thankfully) represent all white men?
  10. Isn't all consumer spending down by about 25% in the US? It's not just automakers, it's everything. IMO, a bailout won't help. Unless it decreases the price of the vehicle to the consumer. People just aren't buying in the US. When one cannot afford the mortgage, a new car is crossed off the list of "must haves". I do lay some blame on the "big 3", however. IMO they screwed up by telling every housewife she needed a huge, gigantic, mammoth vehicle to drive the kids to school. Saw a cute little crossover the other day - a Suzuki something-or-other. My next vehicle when mine starts breaking down and costing too much to fix. Fuel pump on Monday... cost me $950 ACK!
  11. Same. I've always referred to myself as a "mutt" or "Heinz 57" due to my mixed European heritage. IMO, it's honourable for the Obama family to rescue an unwanted mutt rather than spend thousands on a purebred. I hope they get a big dog.
  12. Not every automaker. Toyota's Sept 2008 sales were 14.9% above their Sept 2007 sales. Toyota Canada sales up 14.9 So what is Toyota doing better than the others? ... I drive a Pontiac, so it's not me driving the sales LOL
  13. I bawled my eyes out seeing all those hopeful faces! It's heartening to see so many people garner hope. It was an unforgettable moment of history. Not because Obama is black (who cares?) but because the US nation hasn't seen a leader like Obama since Kennedy. For years the left has had to be silent -- hell even the word "liberal" was turned into a negative by insane social conservatives... the tables have turned and the right needs to suck it up and be loyal to their president.
  14. ha ha As always... can dish it out, but can't take it. You are notorious for trumped up conspiracy theories regarding Barrack Hussein Obama. Suck it up baby, it's your turn. LOL
  15. Exactly Shady... save your hatred. Obama is President -- get over it and leave the damn toaster alone! Seems the disgruntled right has stolen all the tinfoil hats and talking toasters! Ha ha... this is going to be so fun over the next few years while we watch the right frothing at the mouth, hording guns and shivering in fear.
  16. Mr. Canada, if it makes you feel any better, I was banned from Babble too for being too rightwing LOL Drea... too rightwing?!! LOL The thread was about squeegie kids deserving a Union.
  17. It was me and her (two twelve year olds, not even allowed a pbj sandwich. But there was lots of empty beercases....) My kid gets home at 3:15... dinner is at 6pm. So usually grabs a pbj or piece of fruit or two. He has hollow legs LOL Food is not negotiable IMO... if kid is hungry, kid should be able to eat.
  18. Women today have choices. Many of us choose less children and more wealth. IMO it's better to raise one or two children properly, than to raise ten and barely be able to feed them. I have one child and have easily saved enough for him to attain post secondary education. If I had four kids and just hubby's income how would we choose who gets to go to university and who doesn't? I do not apologize for driving a nice car or my new $10,000 kitchen. Hubby and I have worked hard to build what we have. The world would not be a "better" place if we had chosen to have tons of children, nor would we be better off. On the contrary.... we would be a net drain on society. I simply expect parents to be able to adequately feed, clothe and educate their children. When I was growing up a family down the road had seven kids. The mom of course, stayed home. They had a daugher my age and she was not allowed to eat after school. We'd get off the bus starving and not be allowed to eat! I cannot imagine not being able to allow my child food when they are hungry. But hey, this is just my opinion. Some folks may believe being hungry "toughens up" a child... who knows?
  19. so you would take your eight year old daughter behind you on a bike for 500kms? How will assure that she will be safe? Seriously, a bungee cord LOL
  20. People don't have children with the thought "We don't have enough workers in this country so me and the Mrs. are gonna make some!" So immigration really does not affect whether or not Canada has a low birth rate. We have a low birth rate because it is expensive and stressful to raise children (and rewarding of course, but I cannot see how raising ten would be any more rewarding than raising two -- lots more stress for the same reward??)
  21. It's about time! Children cannot hang on properly to either the back of the rider or the lame "handles" on motorcycles. Friend of mine's ex was going to pick up their daughter and ride 500 kms with her... friend say no way. How can a child be expected to hang on for 6 hours? Ridiculous and irresponsible IMO. If you want to kill yourself on a motorcycle, go ahead -- but you have no right to kill your children because you want to "ride with the wind in your face". Hope this bill passes.
  22. excellent. People don't have as many kids, because, as Argus stated... women don't have to. Having 4, 5, 6+ children is hard on a woman mentally and physically. Most women today do want children, just not litters of them. I would have loved to have one more but alas it is too late (I just turned 44) and hubby and I are looking forward to that empty nest in the next five years or so. Then we will travel and enjoy focussing on each other. IMO, life is not strictly about bringing more people into the world. Life is about enjoying yourself. For some this may mean having tons of kids... but those people are rare. Most people want to not struggle and to enjoy a few amenities -- life is too short as it is. Enjoy yourself!
  23. Tough noogies. Get over it. Or don't. Who gives a shit? Usians are going to kill one another no matter who is elected. If Obama wins the rightwing will take up arms against democrats. If Obama doesn't win the Rodney King riots will look like a little wiener roast. I am going to get my popcorn and watch the action from my safe, almost-paid-for-non-forclosed-home on my paid-for-big-screeen-TV. Go USians! Riot! Riot! Riot! Kill the Liberal! Burn the Republican!
  24. Not sure if you have memory issues.... but every single time a poster makes a comment on the USA (good, bad or indifferent), you chime in with "Canada does/did/has/hasn't/was/is TOOOOOO!" You are such a little kid! LOL So yes, I was pre-emptive in responding to your inane comment-to-follow about how Canada has rightwing freaks TOOOOOOO! LOL You just keep on keepin' on BC2004! Without you people would think the USA is a good place and damn it, we can't have that! We must continue to allow people like you a place to spew... so the world can continue to point and laugh at Usian society and what it has bred. BTW, I am really happy when rightwing Canadians leave for warmer climes in the USA. It does not break my heart to have less rightwingers here. Cheers!
  25. "Drain on society" means different things to different people... One side believes a person is a drain on society if his/her personal wealth is affected. The other side believes a person is a drain on society if collective resources, etc are affected. The right cares only about the individual -- the individual with money. Society (in their minds) is successful if one person succeeds and hundreds fail. The right does not believe taxes should benefit those less fortunate than themselves. The left cares about the collective -- the distribution of wealth. Society (in their minds) succeeds if all have equal opportunities to succeed as individuals. The left believes taxes should benefit those less fortunate than themselves. Booga booga scary "socialism".lol Successful societies are made up of people working individually for the good of the whole (and themselves). Unsuccessful societies are made up of people working only for their own benefit, to hell with everyone else. The USA's downward spiral into pure individualistic capitalism has made it an unsuccessful society. For BC2004 --> yes, yes, we KNOW already that Canada ALSO has rightwing freaks and CAPITALISTS. Doesn't change the fact that society in the USA is in the crapper. Canada's socialist banking policies aren't looking so bad in today's world are they? Dontcha just wish that your leader's had a more "socialist" bend? Your assbackwards country wouldn't be in such a financial mess! LOL Of course you don't. Silly me, you are a US citizen -- a rugged individualist with no care whatsoever as to what happens to the whole of society, just so long as you have your Hummer and your IPod... who cares if the kids down the street can't afford to eat today. pffft.
