  1. well then, ok. we should also believe all the convicts who said they didn't do it either. even if they were invited, that doesn't mean that the NDP agreed to let it be recorded. Tory lawyers are going to be awfully busy between Cadman, the in & out and now this
  2. supposedly Fife at CTV is saying the GG WON'T agree to any progrogue request
  3. I hope not. There were plenty of other items in the ES that were intolerable, ie the removal of the right to strike, the removal of the ability for women to fight for their rights and the imaginary asset sales
  4. don't twist my words. I never said I supported corporate donations. I only said if you're going to remove the government subsidy that was put in place to make up for corporate donations being banned and individual limits being lower, then its only fair to allow them again Personally, seeing as its only a drop in the bucket, my preference would be to leave the subsidies and limits as is
  5. not really as it was in reference to his marching orders for Conservatives in Parliament to be less aggressive, and this plan goes totally against that directive
  6. this reeks of nasty partisan politics which goes against Harper new policy of being less aggressive and "playing nice". IF Harper was fair, this would be a temporary move combined with a matching temporary move to raise individual donation limits and allow corporate donations to make up for lost revenues for the parties
  7. http://farnwide.blogspot.com/2008/11/red-flags.html In Question Period today the Conservative's are already using quotes from that interview against Bob and the Liberals. The Tory War Room must be salivating at all the juicy quotes they have and are sure to get regarding rae and the economy
  8. when that boom went bust at the start of this decade, there was a world wide recession, save for a few countries, including Canada. one of the reason's that have been cited for our ability to stay out of that global recession was the fiscal policies that the Liberals had put in place
  9. according to our independent parliamentary budget officer its...and here's a shocker...Harper http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/11/20/report-budget.html
  10. don't forget the personal chefs to make healthy food
  11. the question is how much are they spending while there? Personally, my family and I will try to but the same quantity of gifts this season, maybe a few less, but we've all agreed the value of those gifts will be a lot less then they have been in the last few years I also remember reading that many stores were starting sales early this year, so the "rush" not be as big as you expect because many are taking advantage of these sales early
  12. going by applause on sunday, I was pleasantly surprised by the length and loudness of the applause Dominic got. I think it showed he's already got more support than many people care to believe, and it will only grow as his name and idea's get out there more. I think we've already started to get a good organization going and some people will be surprised how well he does. and lets remember, Iggy was presumed the winner last time too but his campaign seemed to hit a bit of a roadblock a few weeks before the convention. To quote Chris Berman...Thats why they play the a game http://telegraphjournal.canadaeast.com/search/article/484308
  13. LeBlanc brings the experience, been an MPO for years, worked under Chretien, and his dad has held pretty much every office except for PM (MP, senator, Speaker of Senate, GG), without the massive baggage of his Premiership and the fact he's from here in Toronto, and lets not forget his hissy fit this weekend. Hell, Dominic probably knew more about the true workings of Canadian politics and Parliament before he could drive then most of us will ever know.
  14. duties are tiny (2.5% for cars) compared to the profit made from the devalued Yen you're right in that they dont' have unions but you're wrong about no direct costs. in the US they still have pension and health care obligations, which are small right now, retired workers are in the hundreds thats only a relatively recent occurrence, as they've built their market share (with help from previous profits from Japanese build cars) they've built their manufacturing presence, and even then there are still a number of vehicles brought over. All Lexus' except for the RH are made in Japan because they can't build to the
