  1. This trip has done something for me I hadn’t expected, I’ve kind of reconnected with this land. We were at a conference and met people from all over western Canada and Ontario. Different walks of life. So full of life, it’s contagious! Canada is better than you think.
  2. Are we there yet?

Don’t make me come back there!!

      I will stop this car.....!

  3. So we’ve been in Winnipeg for a couple of days, so no road pictures. Winnipeg is fun and the people are more friendly than the Lower Mainland of BC. Not sure why BC is like that, but here’s a photo of a company building. My grandma taught me how to eat sunflower seeds from this company when I was a toddler…
  4. Well how about a thread on this very forum? “ An updated more recent analysis from 1,153 patients (out of a possible 2,246 patients) showed a lackluster, non-significant 51% relative risk reduction. A sub-group analysis of 721 vaccinated adults with at least one risk factor for progression to severe COVID-19 showed a non-significant relative risk reduction in hospitalization or death (treatment arm: 3/361; placebo: 7/360)”
  5. There is nothing wrong with wanting to stop coal burning. New technology has it burning much cleaner, but I believe China doesn’t have cleaner air as a top priority. They have dozens of coal burning plants and should be where the eco extremists(not you) should be focusing.
  6. That sounds perfectly reasonable, but. There is a sizeable minority voting block in the US that truly believes the earth will be destroyed in like 8 or 9 years if DRASTIC action isn’t taken immediately. Their wish list includes: - fossil fuel burning engines banished, immediately. - Harvesting of trees abolished - Meat production is methane production, everybody become vegan. - Population levels greatly reduced. - Donald Trump death penalty. Ok, I made that one up, ha ha. I’m not sure what’s on the agenda for trees. But for these types, to save planet earth, voting on environmentalism is just part of their cult. By posting this, I’m probably on a list now. Thanks a lot!
  7. Nope I have the wrong link, thanks for that. Looks like he wasn’t in Ukraine after all…
  8. Not sure about that, or was he both in Canada and Ukraine on Canada day? This link shows him in Ukraine on Canada day. https://www.kyivpost.com/ukraine-politics/zelensky-congratulates-trudeau-on-canada-day.html
  9. Not a pretty picture at all. I’ve mostly ignored crypto currency, bitcoins and the like. I heard that Trump does not favour bitcoin, and I wondered why, but at least I looked it up. I could not really understand how it was made or valued, so I stayed away, never tried to invest in it. I think that’s a maxim of sorts, only invest in industry or business that you are knowledgeable about? Anyway, I started to favour precious metals. In these times many things are uncertain. I don’t possess the knowledge that some of you have, but silver and gold are not as complicated as Bitcoin. Unless I am missing something!
  10. Yes, I mostly agree with this, but I would add to it. We are a triune being, like God. He created us in His image. Physical body. Soul, made up of will, mind and emotions. And spirit, which dwells in the spiritual dimension. It’s the spirit that lives forever.
  11. It’s disgraceful. He’s just adding to the body of evidence that will have him lose the next election…
  12. Wow, 54 pages. I’m glad that in this forum, we’ve solved the abortion dilemma, people! Keep on rocking in the free world.(sarcasm) It’s sad to see so many attacks on each other. It hasn’t really accomplished anything.
  13. https://www.coindesk.com/business/2022/07/01/voyager-digital-temporarily-suspends-all-trading-withdrawals-and-deposits/ “Shares of Voyager plunged more than 26% to $0.33 in Friday’s U.S. trading (shares of the firm’s main listing in Canada were not trading on Friday because of the country's Canada Day holiday). Shares are down more than 97% year to date.” ”Voyager recently disclosed it had significant exposure to Three Arrows Capital (3AC) and had issued a notice of default to the beleaguered hedge fund. Voyager claims 3AC has failed to make require payments on its loan of 15,250 BTC ($294 million) and $350 million USDC.“ They are basically saying, “Sorry, you can’t have your money.”
  14. Here’s a new one: https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/fda-will-not-require-clinical-trial-data-authorize-redesigned-covid-boosters-2022-06-30/ They have developed new Covid vaccines for new emerging sub variants. But they are not going to submit them to clinical trials to find the efficacy rate. No, no, they’ve got a better idea. They are going to just use the data from the previous vaccine trials. I wish I was making this up… “U.S. health regulators will not require companies to submit new clinical trial data on COVID-19 vaccines that target the now dominant BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants to authorize those shots, but will instead rely on studies showing the efficacy of targeting the earlier BA.1 subvariant, a top official said on Thursday.“
  15. This land is your land. What will you do with it? I know there is plenty of hate and too much grief and sorrow in it, but there is love and joy too. Many times going through the “drive through” window on this trip, and there are many visible minorities serving me, a white guy. Call me strange, but when they hand me my food I like to say, “thanks, brother”. It almost always gets a reaction. In Calgary, at Peter’s Drive In, the kid stood up straight, put his hands together and smiled at me. I wish I could make their Canada more like mine.
  16. I’m sorry about the boring photos, but I simply can’t get over how flat the land is out here. The hills and mountains of BC hide the horizon and you don’t realize how massive the sky really is. Also, 2200 km and we are only half way across this amazing country.
  17. Anyway, you better get used to this, because in the space of a week, Scotus made 4 pro-conservative rulings: 1)Struck down restrictive gun laws in NY. 2)Struck down Roe v Wade. 3)Upheld a coach’s right to pray at a high school game. 4) Ruled against the EPA over reach. And once Canadians see the benefits of common sense rulings, they are going to grow dissatisfied with a legal system that restricts their freedoms so much…
  18. It’s hard to believe you would stoop to such levels to troll. The US federal government wants to shutter the fuel burning engine and have everyone in electric cars within several years. That’s about as realistic as expecting the power grid to magically have this extra capacity and the electricity rates to not sky rocket. So under Biden gas prices jump up(well before the Ukraine war) after Trump had them relatively cheap. Now I know you think Trump is a buffoon and such, but if a buffoon can stabilize oil and gas production, why can’t Biden? And what’s wrong with $1.20/litre gas? Or $3/gallon USD?
  19. So if anyone takes a road trip this summer, feel free to take some weird pics and add to the thread. Let’s celebrate road trips!! (That’s Moose Jaw btw)
  20. Yeah, that’s why China has thousands of spies in the US and buzzes American military jets, because they are “scared” of America. Everybody has an opinion…
  21. New SCOTUS ruling(6/3, get used to that number) limits EPA overreach into climate issue.  That’s now 5 pro conservative rulings in a row, folks, in the space of one week!

    1. dialamah

      dialamah

Why would you crow over a supposedly unbiased judiciary ruling exclusively in favor of "conservative" values.

    2. sharkman

Because they used to be more biased.

  22. Thank you for this, now I see where you are coming from. Globalization has been what the leading countries of the world have been moving toward for probably 30 years or more. The US included. On the down low since their voters have a dim view of such things, and rightly so. Globalism is the move towards a one world government, and this is done again in the background, its goals kept under wraps. The WHO, WEF and UN are arms of this monster, getting more and more power through treaties and agreements in exchange for “help” given. Globalization puts power in the hands of the few. For that reason I don’t think it’s a good thing. Races and cultures and peoples are unique and should always be celebrated. I believe Russia, India and perhaps China(plus a smattering of small countries) are all that’s left to oppose Globalism. Russia has committed the unspeakable sin of basing their currency on a gold standard instead of remaining connected to the world fiat based system. This is why Russia must be taken out by NATO. The “Save Ukraine” campaign was a ruse. See Libya. The USA is going to fail. China will strike a major oil deal with the ME which will destroy the US dollar. Where we all wind up is anyone’s guess, but the old normal is never coming back.
  23. It’s debatable as to who is more “powerful” in the South China Sea, but a couple of things are clear. America has historically been reluctant to get involved in military conflicts with China, almost as if they are fearful. Also, China has been pouring billons into their military and is getting quite strong. Yes their army/Air Force is untested and such, but their new ship busting missiles are up to the task. Then there is Biden. In bed with China, compromised and probably on the take. China isn’t worried about a Biden led US.
  24. Anyone that’s had health issues like that, it can’t be easy to carry on with your life or career. We need change in BC, perhaps it will be for the best. The struggle for power in politics, it does bring out some of the worst people. I hope that seeing some of the excesses of the Trudeau government serves as a warning to BC’ers during the next election cycle.
