Traditions are a component of culture. IOW Canadians are dummies. It seems the dummies have advanced tremendously leaving behind the dormant Quebecois, Native and Metis culture. Yup, rubbing two sticks of wood together to light a fire is a sure win formula for cultural advancement or poutine for inducing heart attacks. And why can't you? Relating to a society, culture is derived COLLECTIVELY relating to human achievment and advancement. It seems you want to divide on the basis of culture.

You made the reply citing several countries without the specifics. Where are they? BTW.. no doubt Godwin's Law was invented by an inferior socialist who did not appreciate his ideologies being compared to the Nazis. And also relating to the Liberals....abusing legislative authority (LEGAL) is what makes this country a BANANA REPUBLIC.

Both U.S. and Canadian cultures are basically derived from the same mother country Britain. Our culture APPEARS to mirrors U.S. culture because both countries pursue the same interest that relate to being an advanced civilization. Of course the U.S. leads as an advanced civilization due to their larger population and other resources. The only immigrants that can help Canada IMO, are those from a similar advanced culture. Why do we need other countries meaningless traditons here in Canada?

We have lost many doctors and nurses to the more highly paid private health care system in the U.S. And that does present a problem that will NEVER be rectified unless public health care is eliminated and the entire publicly paid health industry goes private. We have lost many other skilled Canadians in other professions also. This is (to some) one of the nice things living next door to a super power capitalistic society and is why Liberalism will never succeed to the extent some people would like to see it, in a country such as Canada. -
If the Harper government accepts this recommendation it will be discriminating against the Charter rights of majority English speaking Canadians. This means it will allow Quebec to continue to discriminate against the English in Quebec by allowing Quebec to continue to use the NWC to discriminate against minority English in Quebec with the feds recognizing this fact and unilaterally accepting the notion of Quebec being a separate distinct society. This means the federal government will be invading individual provinces outside of federal jurisdiction promoting bilingual policies, wheras provinces have control over provincial language rights and not the federal government. In turn provinces (who allow this) are ignoring the rights of its citizens by leaning towards its legislative authority rather than implementing referendums. This would be extremely costly and totally discriminatory. There has never been a referendum relating to the acceptance of a bilingual Canada, but the federal government, it appears justifies a telephone poll over a referendum to linguistically discriminate against English speaking Canadians with their federal, non-provincial, policy. And the article does not indicate what the exact question that was ask to detirmine support of bilingualism in Canada. Even the Bloc is against these recommendations. http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...81-65918fc8985c

Everyone in Canada having a family doctor is the cause of many problems. You tell me why a healthy 18 yr. old needs a family doctor or in fact why anyone needs a family doctor who is not ill requiring constant treatment or monitoring, for health problems? People who get sick occasionally can use walk in clinics. There is a shortage of nurses and doctors because they are not hiring them. Nurses for instance are reluctant to accept employment because usually it is only part time employment that is available. The problem is money and not providing long term beds for the chronically ill, who are taking up space in our regular hospitals. -
All governments support power and greed, which inevitably, at some point, leads to war.

Please post your reponse why you think the Liberal government is not a dictatorial government and why Canada can't be viewed as a banana republic. 'BANANA REPUBLIC' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banana_republic I know what Godwin's Law is. But I don't think you do. Please post your response why you think I don't know what godwin's law is? Please post what these other countries language laws are compared to what language laws our federal government allows here in Canada. Please post what the Europeans signed and we will judge for ourselves just how oppressive these laws are compared to Canada.

Who says we need more doctors and nurses? What we need are more beds, which equates to more hospitals, which in turn equates to more money. The bottom line in this country relating to the failure of our health care system is money, relating to our current backlog of the many patients requiring operations and the lack of non-existent beds for long term care. The system does not have the money to properly support the current demand for health care services in Canada. That is what the problem is. I don't think you know what you are talking about relating to a shortage of skilled workers. -
One emulating the political ideologies of CULTIST Barack Obama...give me a break.

What makes you assume we do not have a high unemployment rate in Canada when I just finished posting information that would rebut what you are saying. Again, unemployment statistics are based on those who are actively receiving EI benefits. Any persons unemployed whose benefits have been exhausted or are classified long term discouraged workers, are not included in any unemployment statistics. No one really knows what the TRUE unemployment rate is in Canada, as once you are off of EI benefits, you are no longer a statistic. -
Firstly, one must understand the definition of 'assimilate' before we can into specifics. They were simply explorers, representing their country of origin. There was NO society with the mechanisms necessary to assimilate anyone.

'Was' referring to the past and 'ARE' referring to the present should not be difficult to understand unless your name happens to be 'guyser'. In this particular case Godwin's Law is not applicable, as the comparison is accurate and is within a reasonable historical time frame and even the U.N. agrees with it. There is nothing in modern times to compare it to other than the most recent oppressive style Nazi rule. A single point in matter, what other government in a civilized society (in the world) allows language police to check out the lettering on commercial signs to ensure it is within the standards of that oppressive societies twisted legislation?
-
Canada WAS an advanced, civilized nation long before 1982 and components of Canadian culture have continued to advance, despite the Liberals socially destructive totalitarian stranglehold. This is relating to certain major aspects involving cultural advancement that has thrown us back to the Nazi era.

Oh, I see. Those unemployed Canadians not receiving EI benefits are not unemployed. Unemployed immigrants and others who are not receiving EI benefits would substantially add to the unemployment statistics, if their numbers were included. -
Relating to the dysfunctional nature of our federal government, a conditon the Liberal party of Canada has created and one outside of a revolution, the poor Conservatives have to tolerate, YES.

You just seem to be confused, period, you poor little troubled troll.

The post has been edited. Relating to carving our own culture makes no sense as we always did have our own culture. Don't ever try to say Canada has no culture as we are one of the most advanced primarily English speaking, Christian civilizations on earth. Unfortunately, it does, as a land mass without a chronological record of important events, Canada would not qualify as a country, being just a space filled with people. I realize this is your dream, Canada being a vast empty area, waiting to be taking over by homeless foreign immigrants, to establish their cultures and make it their newly discovered home.

No it does not. It means we recognize different cultures in Canada and has nothing to do with immigration. In an officially multicultural country, this is hypocritical since it places official importance on English and French cultures while ignoring non-official cultures. Official multiculturalism is a farce. This as been proven by the federal governments own hiring practices relating to public service employment and visible minorities. I just posted an article that says otherwise, unless you can prove with your statements are true. Even employment statistics are flawed relating to the TRUE number of unemployed in Canada, since the only number that is representative of the unemployed, are those who are currently receiving EI benefits. Discouraged workers or any one unemployed and not receiving EI benefits are NOT included in the official number of unemployed in Canada. -

A I would say PROVE we need any immigrants period. IMO Canada is empire building, feeding corporate greed, again, at tax payers expense. I would be in basic agreement with this article: http://elliotlakenews.wordpress.com/2007/0...ers-not-needed/ -
Relating to WASP, Canada is now considered primarily Anglo Saxon Christian as well as being part of the Anglosphere. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglosphere http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Anglo-Saxon_Protestant

Our largest trading partner the U.S., a super power has done quite well with the Western English speaking culture and so have we. For a country like Canada sandwiched between two oceans, the Atlantic and Pacific, and to the North, the Arctic region, with the U.S. to the South of us, coast to coast, Atlantic to Pacific oceans, makes any other alternative, relating to an alternate culture look silly. What other evidence could one ask for? BTW...where is your loyality to our form of government as a Constitutional Monarchy and a Parliamentry Democracy. Certainly you know full well our country has a history to be proud of.

In my terminology there are no founding members of Canada but rather 'victors' and in that sense, it is only the British that won Canada and no one else. But in saying this and in reference to your logic, there is no revelence to WASP as Anglo-Saxons, since all Anglo-Saxons are primarily all White initially and in Canada can be characterized rather as being White Christians. This of course is what the Majority of Canadians are in relationship to founding immigrants. You of course are referring to cultures other the Anglo-Saxon race (White race) and in this country why should non Anglo-Saxon immigrants not freely assimilate to the concerns of the majority culture. Why you would promote ghetto type segregation for non-White immigrants which amounts to promoting racism? Why come to Canada if they want to retain their foreign culture to that degree. Canadians do not want perpetual forigners. Obviously Canada does offer a superior (advanced culture) or immgrants would not want to immigrate here. Discrimination exist all over Canada, Whites included and there is no way anyone is going to eliminate discrimination. Show me where the Charter guarantees a cultural base? There is no government in there right mind that would promote a cultural dysfuctional country, although I must say the feds have been leaning in that direction relating to home grown solitudes. But relating to new foreign immigrants the federal government certaintly desires immigrants assimilating with the majority culture, even though it cannot define its own definiton of what integration means. To bad you are so intolerant of redundant immigrant WASP, who if developed the policies that Quebec currently flourishes by, we would all be OFFICIALLY WASP.

The mentality around here is astounding. A very important issue involving the improper integration of immigrants, affecting the future of Canada, gets sidetracked by a U.S. soldier throwing a puppy off a cliff. Unbelievable. If it were not for irresponsible and corrupt politicians and free flowing tax money, immigrants would be White, English speaking and compatible with Western culture and ideologies.
