  1. RE: Trump has, several times , met with or discussed with Putin a peace proposal and zero has happened Concur
  2. .............. familiarity breeds contempt regarding Vax. Visit Africa sometime and witness the ravages of pandemic ..... historically Europeans introduced disease to North American continent - although intentioned (ulike the U.S.) it was extremely effective in decimating the unwanted indigenous. Bobby Kennedy believes in 'natural herd immunity'. Herd immunity subscribes to the theory that if a high enough of a percentage of a population is infected with an infectious disease (and survive) eventually the entire population becomes immune to that infection. In theory he might be correct - but at what cost - what expense? TB ravaged the northern communities of Canada - went thru communities like a wild fire - largely due to the fact that it is air-borne and the population lived in close contact. Quite likely a limited vaccine, detection and treatment saved hundreds of thousands. Familiarity breeds contempt - hard to imagine people are condemning the Polio vax - my father had polio.
  3. RE: Trump already did that??? - ever heard of the Kansas City Shuffle?. .........but I digress, Ur joking, right?. Anyone less refined would advise you to 'keep up' OMG
  4. Wishing isn't a strategy ............
  5. Measles is an EXTREME threat to expectant mother's fetus.
  6. . ........... War crimes can really ruin ur reputation if ur on the losing side, eh? Geneva Convention, LOAC, etc likely work great if ur beating the crap out of ur enemy ....... u can afford the largesse? This doesn't always apply of course, WWII strategic bombing, Yugoslavia, Vietnam .......it's a long list. anyone remember My Lai - Vietnam, 1968 - several hundred massacred - those responsible were convicted.\ But my fav is Yugoslavia - Milosevic? How about the siege of Sarajevo - sniping and killing of entire families was an industry - actual bounties paid. Syria, Iraq ......... Kuwait ... there are really no rules, just hope if ya partake ur on the winning side or have political hacks to protect you.
  7. You really need to go back in history ........... post WWII (Chiang Kai-shek) to understand the Chinese argument re: Taiwan. Incidentally Pierre Trudeau was on of the first Western leaders to recognize the PRC in 1970. But that aside, China claims sovereignty over the entire South China Sea and beyond, so-called '9 Dash Line' - untold riches (minerals / oil) under the sea, not to mention the strategic value of controlling shipping thru it. Whenever China makes the claim the USN would plow a battle group thru it - infuriating. Not any more - Americans claim freedom of the seas and international tribunals agree.
  8. ............... not every 'user' is an addict - no market in that, eh? Over 25 percent of the population have used illegal drugs or misused prescription drugs within the past 12 months. Surely you're not suggesting they are all drug addicts. No, the bulk of the market is what you deny, casual desire / curiosity / entry Is it a problem? Of course it is - like alcoholism - part of society, normalized.
  9. There never was a better time for China / Korea to act ...........
  10. ................ to some it is a complete mystery why U.S. Jews support the political Left - specifically the Democrats? Likely the explanation is quite simple - it has to do with their history and their experience with pogroms and fascism - specifically the Nazi style. The political Right in the U.S. has always been unsettling to the U.S. Jew - mainly due to the Right's Nationalistic trends - it's a harbinger for them. Fascism.
  11. ............. free the hostages? Netanyahu is about as guilty of war crimes as bomber Harris was with his strategic bombing campaign of Germany in WWII. The truth is that the so-called, 'Palestinians' are complicit in their own misery. Netanyahu's actions delivered the hostages? ............. Iran, Hezbollah, Gaza ............ Yemen ......... now know what retaliation is about and theirs, as cold blooded as it was, is puny in comparison. It needed to be done in the manner it was done.
  12. Bill 101 / Bill 96? Not evil ................ just fascist!
  13. https://youtu.be/lTs6a0ORdQU
  14. ah, no There is no question that the war of 1812 was an American desire for Territorial expansion .......... the Louisiana Purchase influenced the war of 1812. It was a disaster, British Troops burned the White House and the President narrowly escaped thru a back window - the American hawks quickly decided that the desire for territorial expansion for now, wasn't worth the squeeze. Trump absolutely believes in both the Monroe Doctrine and Manifest Destiny.
  15. Acadian expulsion? 1755 Fall of Quebec? 1759 Montreal? 1642 Quebec City? 1608 French priests played a SIGNIFICANT role in the settlement of New France. Newfoundland? - arguably the longest SERVING colony of the British Empire - it was an ACTIVITY (fish, baby) and not a colony.
  16. Just to be clear, Russia is fighting a war of attrition - the wearing away of Ukraine's defences - Russian's losses have been staggering! The thing is Putin faces no backlash within Russia - he can fight that type of war and win - what he cannot survive is losing or likely even negotiating a truce. Putin's strategy is that the West will lose interest in the war - the latest Peace Plan (suggested by Russia) hasn't changed a wit, the difference is that Trump is promoting it. If the so-called treaty prevails it will be a disgrace whose stench will linger for generations and there will be repercussions, likely beginning with the collapse of NATO. You seem to think that Canada can stand on it's own without allies - surely not? In closing I'll say the good ole days of relying on the U.S. to provide an aegis are gone - but relax, there won't be an invasion of Chinese or Russians, Koreans, Iranians - Canada will likely collapse thru the actions of a 5th political column.
  17. I'm somewhat certain the so-called dictators would eat you last - you provide an advantage to them.
  18. I don't think you fully understand Article 5 of the NATO covenant - strength in numbers, one for all and all for one?
  19. ............. of course the Americans - not to mention NATO allies that are expected to cough up 5% honestly. Smoke and mirrors ........ rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic while the band played on?
  20. I think ur missing the intent of the amalgamation - it has nothing to do with efficacy and everything to do with fiscal deception re: our defense budget? All that said, I'm sure RCN would look forward eagerly to serving aboard CCG hulls. No one is fooled - oh, maybe a few civilians.
  21. Suppose it could now be argued that NORAD is far more an issue for the U.S. than NATO? CCS will be the heart and soul of the River Class Destroyers....... What will they marry to it ........... don't want to be too offensive, eh? All that being said I'll be surprised if we get the full planned complement. ............ maybe defer to a few icebreakers for the CCG/RCN config.
  22. .......... akin to the Canadian Coast Guard amalgamating with the RCN? (Sept 2025)
  23. Yes, coherent phased array systems have a difficult time detecting targets that display the cross-section of a golf ball.
