The United States military is arguably the finest fighting force the modern World has ever seen. That being said, it is not invincible by any means - only a complete fool would believe that. Okay, that said, what makes it so strong - is it just equipment and numbers? I'd argue that it is also a belief in the Constitution and the even firmer belief that SCOTUS is all powerful in interpreting it. It is said that ANY military is not a democracy - a vote isn't taken when the whistle blows and you saddle up and climb out of the trench. Today with technology, that is not 100 percent true. Tell me, what is going to happen to the U.S. military when, shall I say, mini mutinies develop - SOLDIERS challenging authority? OMG. This scenario could develop very easily....... it would be the most foolish mistake to think otherwise.

Slavery- a new old economic model?
John Stone replied to paxamericana's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The Nazi were a legitimate elected government - let me put it another way - Democracy ushered in the Nazi party (Enabling Act) -
Foreign war? The strategy should be to be seamless in the contribution to what is really important - and that is the survival of NATO. Let's cut to the chase - it is critically important for Canada to be in lock-step with the U.S. wrt to defense platforms. The ability to have a (dare I say) Continental defense policy in training, platforms and technology cannot be over emphasized. OMG!

............not sure how sending an occupying force to Gaza, er Mexico would solve U.S. demand for illegal drugs. The demand is the problem ........ not the supply. Did prohibition work??

I think ur confusing the Nazi with Fascism. -
re: Do you believe in man made climate change? Try living on a sub, submerged for 30 days with a funky ventilation system.

I have tattoos - part of the culture. Could never understand why women get tattoos - and that goes double for beautiful women - ugly women my opinion is moot.

I'm always somewhat amused by the fact that the individual (Sir John A. M that saved and developed Canada from 'sea- to- shining-sea' is now demeaned in the most forthright manner. At the same time, a traitor is feted, toasted and held up as one of the fathers of confederation. They say ignorance is bliss but this is at a National level. Oh yeah, the guy that engineered the CPR - truly brilliant, was a U.S. citizen as were the majority of his cohorts - he resided in a Mansion in Montreal - later destroyed by separatists. ............ speaking of iron men?

Only a fool believes that MAGA doesn't / didn't have legitimate arguments in supporting Trump. As much as people say he lies, he is arguably more truthful than the facade the Left were trying to hoist on to the American people with Biden. OMG! At least Trump is truthful in the fact that he is doing what he campaigned on - albeit perhaps in a heavy handed manner.

Slavery- a new old economic model?
John Stone replied to paxamericana's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The most recent and striking use of Fascism to promote national power was Mussolini? He converted an entire Nation to fascism? Are you implying that the entire population of Italy (1920 - 1930 - 1940's) was evil? I think you are becoming overly dramatic. -
Most would likely agree that a purchase of this nature and judging from history, is most definitely NOT a short term decision. Look at the Navy - 35 y/o ships as an example. Canada needs to get this decision right.

USAID dismantling kills hundreds of thousands

relax - global affairs today won't affect you ...... you'll be dead ......... it's future generations that will pay the price. Akin to national debt. -
Slavery- a new old economic model?
John Stone replied to paxamericana's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
............ same could be said about communism, authoritarian regimes, Islam, Catholicism, Zionism .......... are can become political wedge issues. .............. fear is the driving political force. Fascism describes an ideology - the actions of those that follow that ideology are fascists - they are not necessarily evil. I really don't think Trump knows a great deal about global history - that is not said as a criticism - many don't, but the many vote? In a democracy the optics can have a huge effect politically. Trump is being cast as a fascist - that is the perception - perception is reality in politics. -

I didn't say I didn't agree with it per se - I implied that it was bad optics. This is a democracy - more the pity? -

The one thing that Trump did get right was closing the border. I applaud him for that - but he is going way too far, his actions are a losing political gambit - soon(??) his actions will be undeniably fascist. -

There are more people alive today than have ever lived in the history of the World. Is that troubling? It should be - there is a direct relationship between wars, population and dwindling resources. lebensraum? -
Like it or not, the U.S. is Canada's Aegis? There is no real argument here, F35 baby. Think training, geographics, FUTURE trade, non-diversity, support infrastructure. Makes me think of the SHINCOM, RAMSES or Sea Giraffe.

there is no question that slavery was the engine that built central / south America, southern North America. -
USAID dismantling kills hundreds of thousands
John Stone replied to Radiorum's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
............... this is not about saving lives, that is coincidental. It is strategic - it is a bargain for a so-called superpower. For those that are interested take the time to see how China is exploiting the void. Reading the associated posts people could be forgiven thinking that there is complete ignorance of geo-politics / global history. One thing is for certain - the U.S. is playing with absolute experts. These so-called 'experts' have long range plans and they DO see an opening. -
Pyrrhic Victory: NYC Mamdani
John Stone replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
............. this is the kind of political threat Mamdani poses to the U.S. It would seem a stretch but it isn't in any democracy. Those without hope, future, etc. to provide, will burn it all down thru the vote. Consider by 2050 most of the U.S. will be populated by those of color? Additionally, political hacks will fall in line to either retain power or the alternate, lean extremely hard right - yes, fascism. Those that are persecuted today will be doing the same in a few generations. -

Should the vast majority of the US be white?
John Stone replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
A moot question - by 2050 the majority in the U.S. will be so-called, people of color. The rumor is they will be very vindictive. -
USAID dismantling kills hundreds of thousands
John Stone replied to Radiorum's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
USAID is what is described as 'soft' international political power - China is moving into the created vacuum - call it good will? There is no doubt that it will be reinstated - the cost will be enormous - the benefits were/are enormous and I'm not talking about saving lives. Strategic, eh?
