  1. Not quite half.... +2.3% / $1158 to be exact Alberta has a higher average income than Quebec. The average annual salary in Alberta is approximately $50,631, while the average annual salary in Quebec is about $49,473, as reported by ZipRecruiter and ZipRecruiter.
  2. Fair enough.... 👍 My bad for missing the Trudeau point.
  3. No, I see why you brought Canada liberals into a thread about Trump because that's what many in this forum do for daily exercise..... complain about the last decade and how broken we are as country. So yes, I know why you brought it up. I have no desire to engage in a Trudeau conversation around domestic violence simply because this is what TRUMP said yesterday and Trudeau has said nothing remotely close to this, that I'm aware of? Keep in mind you're talking to someone who literally despised Trudeau throughout the last half of his tenure but that's irrelevant.... this is about Trump. We disagree on how leaders should act and present themselves. To each their own....
  4. It's a monumental weakness. So trust you think that 'lefties' would be attacking his words today if he had said 'domestic violence is a problem in our country and in no way shape or form be tolerated'? The guy is the president for goodness sake and there are or at least should be expectations of how they act and how they say things but hey it's Trump, so let's all read between the lines to figure out what he's really saying. ANY good business leader knows how to present themselves and what and what not to say for the good of the company and employees. The 79 year old manchild still hasn't figured that out...
  5. You note the rise in domestic violence in Canada which without looking at stats I'm sure is similar in the US for a number of reasons, including covid, affordability, mental health, etc.... but justify Trump's comments as simple political posturing. Obviously your expectations of how a president should conduct themselves is different than most. Love is blind... And of course you'd bring Canada liberal policies into a simple thread about Trump talking about domestic violence... Whatever 😂
  6. Trump is the president of the US and has, or at least should have a moral obligation to acting presidential and speaking on behalf of all people, not for his politically motivated crime stats. I'm sure 'your mileage varies' with that and likely find it difficult to understand. So be it...
  7. This guy could walk down the street, kick an old lady to the ground to steal her purse and his loyal minions would find a way to justify as 'he was just looking for a mint'.... Thankfully I've had no exposure to domestic violence within my family or circle of friends, that I'm aware of. If anyone doesn't believe it's a social concern then they obviously don't read much. I mean hey, what's the big deal about a 'little fight with the wife'. Just another daily (hourly?) example of the lack of morals, decency and ineptness the US voted for and mindless minions idolize. Embarrassing is an understatement....
  8. You're correct. It may never recover as long as people spend their waking hours complaining and b*ching about the past and their unhappiness with the state of the country. Fortunately we have an angry little guy in Poilievre to remind us of this in case we'd want to do something crazy like trying to unite the country.
  9. Somehow the Liberal party had the same impact on US food security. An amazing achievement to see their policies cross national borders and impact US households.... In 2023, 13.5 percent of U.S. households were food insecure at least some time during the year, meaning the households had difficulty providing enough food for all their members because of a lack of resources. The 13.5 percent of food-insecure households (18.0 million households) includes 5.1 percent (6.8 million) that experienced very low food security, a more severe form of food insecurity in which the food intake of some household members was reduced and normal eating patterns were disrupted. The 2023 prevalence rate of food insecurity was statistically significantly higher than the rate recorded in 2022 (12.8 percent). https://www.ers.usda.gov/data-products/ag-and-food-statistics-charting-the-essentials/food-security-and-nutrition-assistance
  10. The guy is a huckster. Everything is about money. He has to be a full time job for the conflict of interest watchdogs.
  11. I read enough about him to form my own opinion. Again, no desire at all to know anything more about him. You're spot on though... Carney has to show results at some point. I'm going to give him longer than 6 months though. The left would only have to live with PP of you assume he's still your guy. He's got a likability problem....
  12. That doesn't get talked about a lot but questions coming at Trump around his UAE Chips deal so this guy obviously struck a nerve. A very presidential-like exchange though.... Trump's a huckster that has blatantly commercialized the presidency for profit. The NYT story says no proof of any wrong doing but casts suspicion on the timing. Not sure many people would be surprised either way.... Anatomy of Two Giant Deals: The U.A.E. Got Chips. The Trump Team Got Crypto Riches. A lucrative transaction involving the Trump family’s cryptocurrency firm and an agreement giving the Emiratis access to A.I. chips were connected in ways that have not been previously reported. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/15/us/politics/trump-uae-chips-witkoff-world-liberty.html
  13. The approval process was streamlined. Enough to have the hardline cons upset at this success. That's all it takes.
  14. Federal Energy Minister Tim Hodgson hailed the streamlined approval of the project that he said represents one of the largest private sector investments in Canadian history. Hodgson said from Ottawa that the project is an example of the "one project, one review" system in which the Canadian government has relied on the province for an assessment.
  15. I didn't need to read about his life story to understand the rhetoric he advocated for. I jumped on no bandwagon because I'd say the same about Joe Blow if Joe was spewing the same sh*t that guy did. Interesting again that we've had this back and forth and I've yet to call you a 'righty' or anything similar yet you can't stop calling me lefty, and funny enough after you say 'we' in society can't even have a reasonable conversation. Of course 'we' can't if you label people without even knowing them, are hardcore in your political leanings, and assumingely have trouble thinking critically of both sides of the coin. I'm talking 'we' as in general. Personally, I could care less what you want to label me as or call me in this forum setting. I wasn't asked to 'admit' it was liberal policies that 'broke' any federal departments, was I? If you've at all paid attention to what I've said in this forum since coming here though you will recall or find one thread or sentence where I've defended Trudeau and/or some of the policies he was responsible for. I personally don't share your opinion that Canada is broken but just like you I live in Canada and am under no disillusions of where we're at. That said, I voted for Carney because I think he's the right guy to get this country turned around. You have the right to bǐtch but I'm not going to get into a decade long political rehash with you. The past is the past and you can't do fùck all about it except learn from it, and either tweak it or blow it up and fix it. Seems to me that so far Carney understands what's needed to get us back on track.
  16. Probably fair to say we're all one way or another guilty of stoking a fire here and there if we participate in these type of political chat forums. I frequent another chat forum but that's specific to stocks, business or the economy and rarely are there any comments you'd see here, but that's expected. I have no idea who Black Dog is, but me listing Trump, Biden, Carney and Poilievre was only highlighting our political leaders and how some are or at least appear to be emotionally invested in them and hang on their every word. I know I'm a broken record with Trump being a POS (my opinion) but that comes from the hate I believe he fuels for his personal benefit. That means both right and left fuelled with disdain for the other side, which also includes the media as you note.
  17. Yes, you, I and everyone else who is concerned with the state of our society need to play a role in this but it ultimately starts at the top....again, my 2 cents. You can't tell me for one minute that hardcore Trump supporters, or Biden supporters, or Carney, Poilievre whomever supporters don't hang on their every word. If they say jump many will say how high without questions. If politicians use that kind of divisive schtick to get elected, that's on us to make sure they don't get elected.
  18. Or the president espousing divisiveness. But that's what you'd expect from the USA. But Trump now seems to have drawn a very fine line – one that isn’t so much between violence and nonviolence, but between what he casts as evil violence and righteous violence. He drove that home Friday during an interview on Fox News. “I’ll tell you something that’s going to get me in trouble, but I couldn’t care less,” he said. “The radicals on the right oftentimes are radical because they don’t want to see crime. … They’re saying we don’t want these people coming in.” Trump added: “The radicals on the left are the problem. And they’re vicious. And they’re horrible. And they’re politically savvy.” The president seemed to be saying that extremists on the right had legitimate motivations, unlike those on the left.
  19. The saying 'you can't fix stupid' is very apropos for him. Can't fix it but 'ignore user' is very effective....
  20. I see a lot of reasons to be concerned... Politics have always divided people but the level of divisiveness and anger that we've seen this last decade only appears to be increasing. That's awesome that 'a good chunk' of the population see's divisiveness and anger as a way of life isn't it....
  21. You sound like a mini-Trump, except that he knows right from wrong whereas you don't. He doesn't care about right and wrong and simply espouses divisiveness for his self-serving political purposes. You're just a follower who has chosen to let Trump do your thinking and to set your standards. To my last comment of not being hopeful, touché...
  22. Yes I have and stayed out of it until your link and post of eradicating bench trials and thinking that meant Cambridge is spreading hate. Please, go ask someone to interpret the summary for you....
  23. No different here... I've said things that I've had to apologize for and am sure I will again. Maybe even today? My 2 cents though.... It doesn't matter what 'we' are average citizens do to bring civility to our society if the persons who lead our countries have no desire to change the narrative. Most things start at the top and as the saying goes, sh*t flows downhill. If our political leaders want divisiveness then we'll be divisive. If our political leaders have some sort of epiphany where they say enough is enough and regardless of your political stripes we're all the same then we may eventually get closer to a more politically sane society. Sadly, I am not hopeful at all for the latter....
