It may be a breach of etiquette or protocol but all in all.. this is pretty tame stuff. It shows how truly bored some people are.

Conservative Blindness

After Baker City, we went north to Union and then LaGrande. From there, traveled north to Elgin and then Walla Walla, WA. We went to Walla Walla because he had family there and we took a one day pit stop. -
While not a politician.. well respected Conservative church leader.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_Jeffs

The academic literature has clearly stated for years that most pedophiles are heterosexual. It has to do with the hairless other regions. The number of pedophiles is really hard to quantify. Society has never been and still is not tolerant of this.. of which I stand with.

Have seen the State of CA taking preventative measures against these forest fires. Now, can they prevent all of them? not even close. For those who do not know the terrain, the northern 1/3 of CA is vast and mostly empty. They only have so much money and resources available for fuel reduction. Still, this has not been popular with environmentalists who romanticize the untouched, old growth forest.

This reminds me of folks getting all worked up about a cross up on a hill east of Boise. I am 100% non-religious but yet if I do not like it... then do not look at it. Them displaying a pride flag is pretty tame stuff but leave it to the chronically bored to find outrage in anything.

LBGTQ is basically WHITE SUPREMACY

People having fewer kids due to some grand conspiracy.. wow. -
If I am loyal to one brand.. it would be Dust Bowl Brewing (Turlock, CA). If I see their product on a shelf and the time is right.. I buy it. As of yet, only one time has one of their beers not met the mark.

Pride is a sin, (only for WHITES)
impartialobserver replied to reason10's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Likewise.. why feel shame over something that you can't control. I am white and nothing can be done about it. Furthermore.. I can not control other whites living elsewhere or in the past who may have been less than congenial to other races. For example, my paternal grandfather was a sadist and pedophile. It would be moronic to feel shame for his terrible ways. -

I find taking pride in someone's race to be simply hollow. You have zero control over it and so taking pride in something that you do not control is simply lazy and hollow. Now, one's accomplishments, efforts, decisions, etc... of which you have control over (maybe not 100% but greater than 0%), that is something that taking pride in is legit. For example, I take great pride in the fact that I do not just sit and watch my kids from a distance. Whether we are at the park, trampoline park, home, the pool, etc.. I am right there and physically active. That is a matter of choice hence the pride. -
I must be. Part of my impartial view on gays is that I have known quite a few and guess what? They led remarkably average, mundane lives. So besides them being gay.. nothing all that interesting.

Conservative Blindness

Ellensburg ended up being the end destination because my brother-in-law was having foot problems and so bowed out. the original destination was Seattle. However, with foot problems and a major incline (Snoqualmie) coming up.. probably best to bow out. We had already endured quite the climb coming up from the south to Baker City, OR. An elevation gain of 3,000 feet over 18 miles at 95 degrees and no shade whatsoever is exhausting. -

the Kmart in sparks closed sadly. I live about 2 miles from it. Bizaare guns and Bizaare guitars (seems like two stores but is only one)... is an interesting place for sure. I did not know about the parrot but have only been there once so maybe he took a day off. Golden flower is the vietnamese restaurant. Have been there once and it is good. I will say that I think that Reno's restaurant scene is rock solid. It has the right mix of charming, old school (Gold and Silver Inn) and innovative. Asian, BBQ, Korean, Ethiopian, Microbreweries, Fine dining, Thai, Japanese, Greek, Vietnamese, and now Estonian. Have lived in a desert climate for the most part since birth so I guess I am just used to it. Boise, my hometown, gets about 3 more inches of precipitation per year on average but is still pretty arid and desert like. However, there is something moving about the wide open spaces of the desert. No one around for miles, quiet except for the wind, sun shining, and you can do whatever what you want knowing that there is virtually no chance that you will encounter anyone for hours if at all. long story but my brother-in-law and I rode all bikes (no motors) from Boise to ellensburg. A lot of desert along that trek. -

Its called extrapolating. From a small sample size, you infer the characteristics of the greater population. If this practice was widespread... It would come out and there would be some evidence. If you have not noticed... I do not buy into paranoia. I tire of folks reading article about random place in Arkansas (or wherever) and then assuming that because it happens in one place.. it must be happening in every single place. And when you ask why it is not happening in some place that is not Arkansas, they never have an answer. just the usual name-calling and saying that you are stupid/ignorant, etc. -
Conservative Blindness

There is a possibility but if you want to be philosophical.. there is a possibility of anything. Some random teacher in Las Vegas could be teaching about satanism. However, the idea that it is widespread and/or ubiquitous is unlikely. My wife teaches middle school and if it was widespread.. it would have came up at least a few times since June 2010.. would you agree? -

The 447... wow. I may never encounter another person outside of the locals who knows that stretch. Moved to Reno in 2010 and while it has grown.. it still has a small town feel to it. My hometown, Boise, has changed so much as to be unrecognizable. It does have a bit of everything within a few hours drive. Wine country starts at 90 minutes west, 4 hours to San Francisco, 5 hours to the Redwoods, 4 hours to Yosemite, Tahoe is 45 minutes, and then if you travel east (as you know) is the big wide open nothing. -

Well, its not like there is some central database and all I do is write a query such as select * from dbo.schools where crt = 'Yes' There are 668 schools in NV and I can only vouch for the 5 schools that either my wife has taught at or my kids have attended. I know state education policy and there is no mention of CRT in it. Could someone in Las Vegas be teaching it? Maybe. However, my experience is that it is not taught in NV at the public school level. However, that does not stop folks from construing every mention of race as CRT. Martin Luther King Jr. was black.. oh but that is CRT, right? -

My wife is a teacher and has been since 2004 so some of these issues listed in the OP are pertinent. At least in NV.. there is no CRT taught in the public school system. Or at least not explicitly. Yes, you are free to construe anything as CRT.. it happens. It is not all that different from someone claiming that you are indoctrinating them when all you did was mention the word, Bible. -
Below is the link to the story. However, the real story is the use of public funds to pay for sports stadiums. This is nothing new or special to Las Vegas. However, now that we have sufficient data... it is clear that public funding generally does not pay off. Pro sports, while I love them, are not job creators. Nor do they create any real indirect economic impacts. An example of indirect is manufacturing where you put parts x, y, and z together to make a widget. Well, this spurs on the manufacturing x and y and possibly all that go into them. What is your take on this topic as a whole? I am 100% opposed to this from both an economic point of view as well as that of a sports fan. https://www.mercurynews.com/2023/05/25/mlb-commissioner-oakland-as-pretty-settled-on-las-vegas-site-relocation-vote-could-come-within-month/

If you do not want to be called out on something.. then do not write it. if you can't handle the heat then stay out of the kitchen as they saying goes. There is a middle class.. kind of impossible to not have one. If you have 10 people.. the middle class would be the 4th, 5th, and 6th people if you ranked them by income.

HIs words are explicit... no need to interpret anything. There is no reading between the lines. I think the best evidence of one's thoughts would be their words... Well his words explicitly and directly state that he despised economic theory, marx, socialism, etc. Also, when Hitler was in power... there was no redistribution of resources. No tax credits, no welfare, etc. So can you argue that he redistributed based on race, nationality when there was no actual redistribution of anything...

NY Post Attacks Anti-Nazis
impartialobserver replied to Rebound's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Side note: Saw Rage Against the Machine in NYC last August. That was a spectacle unlike any other. The energy in the crowd was something I have never seen the like of.. and I have been to 160 or so live music events. -
Just interesting to know what folks read if anything. The last 5 novels (therefore fiction) that I have read are (newest to oldest) 1. The weight of ink - Rachel Kadish 2. Atomic Anna - Rachel Barenbaum 3. Just like Mother - Anne Heltzel 4. The Hacienda - Isabel Canas 5. Ancestry - Simon Mawer

I do not share your passion for this. If I walk into Target.. I do not go there to do anything but shop and so marketing and displays are just extraneous noise. I also do not share your belief that saying that being gay is ok is exactly the same as trying to convert them. I know two lesbian couples that have raised a daughter.. guess what? both daughters ended up heterosexual, married, and had children. The lesbian couples in both cases had zero problem with their daughter being hetero.
