If you believe that they are mimicking Hitler to the fullest degree then not sure what parallel universe you reside in? There is zero evidence of any leader systematically killing or relocating everyone that does not fit a narrow race. Keep in mind.. Hitler's focus was on race not religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status.. all of this was useless packaging. You should read up on the Beer Hall Putsch... the resentment that Hitler capitalized on was already in place.
-
Most view modern liberal and progressive as one in the same. Hitler did not care in the least about equality.. not even an iota. All that mattered was that the Aryan race were the masters of Europe (possibly the world) and that they did so with an iron fist. As long as all the wealth/power/influence were in the right hands.. how that was distributed meant less than nothing.
-
Therefore... saying that he was a progressive is strange. He wanted to go back to the "old days", where there were no gays, jews, blacks, slavs, russians, or middle easterners. While never explicit, one with enough knowledge of his speeches, knows that he romanticized the Germany of the mid-1800's. And so a time when there was little manufacturing besides in Berlin and Frankfurt. Each village/area was somewhat an independent island of existence with little connection to the greater world. As for religion, it is a bit convoluted at least when it comes to his two books. Yes, he hates Jews. As for Christianity, he conflates it with the good old days and never shows a true love of it.
-
In short.. he thought that the various -isms were just intellectual noise meant to distract you from the true purpose.. bringing Germany back to prominence and making the Aryan race the dominant force behind that. He also did not embrace technology. He liked that it helped his war effort but in daily life.. it was too empowering. German society needed to revert to the old ways and technology combined with more liberal academic ideas were a deterrent to this goal.

How about you try reading it? It is quite the difficult read due to Hitler's incredibly poor writing ability. So circuitous. Here is one tidbit... he explicitly states in the second half that he cares not about economic theory in the least. ____-isms mean nothing to him except that they are means to an end.

Battle over Water Rights
impartialobserver replied to impartialobserver's topic in State Politics in the United States
The above post shows how lack of knowledge can be dangerous... These water rights were negotiated decades ago and all parties agreed to it. They are legally binding. As for desalinization plants... there are reasons for why this has not occurred yet. This is beyond the comprehension of a certain troll. Could they be done? Yes. Will they? No way of knowing that. As for the surface water in CA.. It is going to be a mess. Lots of users (agriculture, cattle ranching, and golf courses being the biggest) combined with the hottest and driest climate in all of America. -
It would depend on the situation. If the mental health professional knew of the issues, had documented them, and had the power to impede the assailant.. then possibly yes hold them culpable for what the assailant does. However, there is a lot of context involved and glossing over the minutiae serves no purpose.

In places where the demographic is decidedly one party.. opposition is either mostly ignored or inconsequential. The same thing happens in Idaho and Wyoming where Democratic candidates either lose badly or are fairly Conservative. Most state elections in Idaho are between two fairly Conservative candidates and the dividing line is money not platform.

Traveling to the middle of nowhere
impartialobserver replied to impartialobserver's topic in Travel, Leisure and Sports
What is both sad and comical is how conditioned folks are to having conveniences and amenities available. Their version of roughing it.. is to find a campsite a few miles from Lake Tahoe. No matter what goes wrong or unplanned.. get in your car and you are back in civilization in 10 minutes and have your supplies/items in 20. Supposed tough guys crumble when you take them to the remote and isolated. Cell service goes to nothing, there is no gas station coming up, and they start looking around. You can see the uneasiness.. Not going to lie and say I was not that way at first. Turn onto that empty dirt road and I would think, "hope that we have a full tank of gas". Now, it is just a matter of planning and being healthy. -
https://www.axios.com/2023/04/07/population-change-pandemic It uses Census data so if you have an issue with that.. feel free to provide a better source for population data. As for what the map says... it says that folks are not moving to the Midwest. They prefer milder weather hence why they are moving to ID, UT, NV, FL, and TX. I predict that the population growth in TX and NV is going to slow just because of home prices coming up. The reason that they move to NV and TX is to avoid personal income tax and relatively low home prices. Take away the lower home prices and the savings are little if none.

Battle over Water Rights

True. the population is going to continue to grow. Folks love the sunny and mostly warm days. Mild, predictable weather coupled with sunny days equals less maintenance on your home. The prices have gone way up in most places but they still come in search of the mild weather and wide open spaces. The new developments mostly tap into groundwater and in some places.. that has been exhausted. -
Battle over Water Rights

the dust cloud gives you away. The alkaline dust hangs in the air like no other. What they do not want to realize is that the water rights and respective allocations were mostly written up and decided in the 50's and 60's. They had no idea that this area would see such population growth. So they over-allocated and the legal battle to correct that is the subject of this thread. Las vegas in 1950 has 24k people and as of today has 647K. -
Battle over Water Rights

You would think that would be an option. A lot of these places do not have high speed internet but that could be resolved. They want that old fashioned way of life. Hard work, isolation, romanticized views, free from government and society's trappings. You move to the city and according to them.. that goes away. You become anonymous, nameless, and doing something that millions could do just as well. Also, they have a long history of fighting over water rights. Once those have been secured.. folks are hesitant to let them go. These water rights give them power and influence in a way that politics in these remote areas can't. Yes, driving up to their house and suggesting this would not end well. In the desert with its lack of trees.. they can see you coming 15 to 20 miles away. -
Battle over Water Rights

The implied thought in this is that if someone tells them to stop cattle ranching out in the desert then that means that they have to move to the cities. Then they have to take jobs in the factory, restaurants, and such and be part of the "rat race". They want their pocket of isolation where they can be as old fashioned as they want to be. I get it.. seriously. I have spent summers out in the vast emptiness of the American West. Some solutions would be the following... 1. less cattle ranching 2. less population in the most arid and hot locations. Imperial County, CA is the best example. Daytime highs of 115 in the summer are quite common with lows of 85. Combine that with it being very mountainous and so quite windy. Now add in that it averages 3. Desalinization plants in Mexico, CA, WA, OR and then ship the water inland. The problem with desalinization plants is that it disrupts the coastal ecosystem and the locals are not in favor of this. And they do not have to approve them..
