Very true and i said it was a bad thing then as well Although in fairness to trump it's being used for very different things between then and now. Biden used it to prop up failed economic policy and buy votes with special interests. Trump is using it more to fund transition and pay for tax cuts he hopes will drive the economy, AND he hoped that tariffs would offset the costs of that and bring the deficit down somewhat. So - two different approaches. But that doesn't change the fact that the deficit is brutally out of control and that offsets the gains to the economy. if that gov't spending were cut off tomorrow the economy would crash, the growth insn't entirely martket based right now. Well, no. Not so far. The difference between 2024 and 2025 is almost zero. It went from something like 1.8 to 1.75 trillion, basically no difference. The CONCERN is that the fed estimates for 2026 at this point is that the deficit will CLIMB this year to 1,9 trillion and will continue to rise each year after that based on CURRENT spending projections. That's the budget that was already passed this year (remember the "shutdown") So it's going to be higher this year than it was last year. And unless something radically changes it'll be higher the year after that as well. But of course, trump COULD address that one way or another in his upcoming budgets in 2027 and 2028. But that's not going to be easy, the current economic growth won't cover it, he doesn't want to add taxes. he's already cut a lot of spending, so where's that coming from? Tariffs are only likely lo produce about 250 billion, and that's already figurd into the 1.9 trillion figure. Tariffs aren't likely to increase that much and if they do it'll hurt the economic growth. Soooo.... we'll see. But the us cannot be racking up 2 trillion dollar deficits year after year for very long. Basically, you're funding today's economy with tomorrow's income and we all know how that turns out. And it's currently getting WORSE under trump, not better. No, that's not how tariffs work Tariffs reduce imports, they don't improve exports The export numbers are good news, THat's a healthy sign. but the consumer spending isn't really. Where are the consumers getting that money? A LOT of it is coming from deficit funded govt' spending. Both directly and indirectly. Gov't spends money with company A, company A pays it's staff, staff goes out and buys consumer goods. And the companies that sell those consumer good make more money so they pay THEIR staff who go out and buy more goods, etc. IF the gov't cut that 1.75 trillion deficit out of its' spending the consumer market would crash hard. And that's why i say it's been artificially keeping the economy afloat. As of this moment in time the modestly strong economic growth that the US is seeing is being funded by deficit government spending. So while this isn't bad news by any stretch of the imagination it's not good news until it can happen on its own with government deficits shrinking instead of growing. Anyone can buy themselves an economy, until the credit card runs out. Will have to see if he has a plan for that
-
So is deficit spending. And all government spending shows up in GDP. Now that doesn't make the GDP numbers a bad thing but it does mean you have to take them with a little grain of salt. The GDP isn't being driven exclusively by market forces. The democrats try to use this argument as well if you'll recall and I said the same thing then with Biden's overspending Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to give the impression this is a bad report card. I think when you look at all the numbers you would classify the current economic situation as being a modestly strong and healthy economy. Nothing to write home about but certainly nothing to be unhappy with Flying the ointment is the government spending and it was before trump showed up and I realize you cannot just turn that around overnight. I think his plan is that the economy will grow fast enough that the deficit will begin to come down on its own just through financial growth, but we haven't hit that quite yet. That might take a year or two , it should be coming up relatively soon. Hopefully it will include some relief for the deficit spending. He ain't getting back to zero in a year that's for sure

Trump Admin Narrative On Epstein Falls Apart
CdnFox replied to robosmith's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
That's kind of what you'd expect. You've seen some stuff that is questionable, it's announced that police are investigating, you call up and share information that you have Unless you actually personally witnessed a crime why would you call them before they were investigating. You don't seem to understand how law works or how investigations work -
Of COURSE he is.... THAT'S WHERE ZUCCHINI COMES FROM!!!!! THINK MAN THINK!!!! (ohhh the humanity....)
-
Yes which was my response to your earlier post. Oh my GOD how are you having a problem figuring this out My comment was in response to YOU! DUuuuuuuhhhh!!! LOLOL You can never say anything so stupid that you're afraid to double down on it You said i brought it up, i pointed out that i responded to you so YOU brought it up as far as our conversation goes which is true. I responded to YOU now... i realize this involves counting. Have you taken your mittens off yet? That will help.

But imported hundreds of millions

It would be wrong to call it insanely good. But it certainly better than bad The wage growth is weak, but the inflation numbers (especially the core inflation) is good news. It's got to come down a LITTLE bit but it's still well within control. And apperently wages kept up which they havent' been which is good. Unemployment is still about where it was but it was low to begin with. IT's nothing to write home about at all, but it's solid. The one sour note of course is the deficit. He's currently propping up the economy with spending. But, one thing at a time, looks like the consumer economy is on good footing.

LOL don't worry about it, @robosmith believes a lot of things. He believes that every fall the Great Zucchini descends and gives toys and gifts to all the little girls and boys who support cheap mexican farm labour. So..... -
Which is a response to your post. I was responding to you. You said something and then I replied with the quote you just gave. That's what 'Preply" means LOLOLOL I have to admit I often find myself thinking that you'll never find another way to be even more stupid than you are now and you always prove me wrong I replied to your post kiddo so you were the one that brought it up

He was coming to the end of his mandate. He didn't have much of a choice. He was elected in 2011 for his mandate with a fixed election date (which was all the craze at the time). He had to call the election to be held on no later than 0ctober 19 of that year. What was happening is that PAC groups and others were spending like mad on election campaigns already and he wanted to nip that in the bud and force them to the same spending limits as normal so he started the election early. That's it. Clearly you didn't realize what happened there. It wasn't an 'early election'. it just started early. I take it you weren't around during that time? No, the decision of the voters left canada being saddled with that particular loser no that's not really true. The problem is people do not realize how hard it is or how long it takes to prepare a good Campaign. You could argue that she are screwed up his campaign was absolutely Dreadful. But O'Toole actually had the liberals on the ropes for the first half of his campaign till they made a mistake, and unfortunately he just did not have anything planned for the second half of the campaign and the media turned on him and squashed him. But this is what tends to happen when you have minorities. In some ways minorities are actually better for the incumbent than a majority when it comes to re-election. It takes about a year to pick a new leader. It takes about 2 years for a new leader after elected to assemble a team, prepare a strategy, and begin to sell that strategy to Canadians. Most people don't realize that, they think someone can come up with a campaign in 15 minutes. You'll notice that the liberals also lost their elections until harper got a majorit I don't think he ever cared about whether or not he could run the country Yep. It is now being said that pierre was the most successful opposition leader in the history of Canada. He wanted to get rid of Trudeau and he did. He wanted to get rid of jaggers and he did. He wanted to get rid of the GST and he did. Etc etc Unfortunately all of his success cost him an election Then your point is not valid Well the truth is it is different in the states, in Canada literally anyone can run for a party with a reasonable chance of success if they have any talent at all. Leslan Lewis came out of the blue with absolutely no political history or training, unable to speak french, and still damn near when the conservative nomination if you actually look at the votes. That would never have been possible in the united states in a million years Winning an election is actually an extreme skill especially in Canada and the truly sad fact of the matter is that the people that have the skills to run the country are very often not the people with the skills to win an election. Harper was the best prime minister we ever had and he was absolutely terrible at campaigning. He ran one good election in the rest were kind of crap Our problem is that the electorate it's not sufficiently educated on what its job is. His job is not to pick the most charismatic person, his job is not to pick the guy with the coolest socks or the firmest handshake or the nicest smile. But oftentimes that's who gets elected. Because that's what people think is important. Trudeau got elected and cannot and could not run the country. But he was so cool. Carney got elected but he cannot run the country either. But he was so refined. Harper squeaked by winning an election and ran the country better than most. And despite having an almost miraculous track record was fired in favor of a guy with cool socks. That is our problem, -
There's no maga wiff. That's complete bullshit from your side to try and excuse their bad behavior and poor choices. Pierre says 'canada first' and you claim it's trumpish even tho it's been used 1000 times over the years. Carney uses slogans like build baby build which are a direct rip off of 'drill baby drill' and you say he's not trumpish. Carney cuts taxes- not trumpish, pierre suggests it, very trumpish. Etc. Carny PRAISES trump to high heaven regularly. Gives him whatever he askes for. Uses specific trump election slogans. Trump says he prefers dealing with carney. Says carney's his guy. So this is clearly a fabricated excuse on the left. PP pretty much dominates younger voters. IT's true he'll have to find ways to break into the older voter block that so far hasn't been that warm to him. Old people always vote in record numbers as the joke goes. But lets quit pretending that PP is the 'more trumpy' of the two. UnFortunately while we wait for the older people to get their act together younger people are starving to death. And at the end of the day that's what we'll put Poilievre in power but hopefully we can get there before then

That's the supposition but that hasn't been confirmed yet. We don't even know for sure which guns were used only the two were used in the home and two were used to the school have the one of the ones used at home was a shotgun. And we know at least two of the guns were never seized, the police have said that two of the guns were unregistered and had never been previously seized by police. So we'll have to wait and see what happened here But we already know he doesn't. He's giving trump everything you want and even when he takes the time to make it nasty speech about him he then gets on the phone with him and tells him he didn't really mean it.
-
So you admit that he's right

Harper? When was he weak in opposition? -
Nobody would ever deny your expertise when it comes to goat love Crackho And nobody's ever suggested that trump doesn't like to have sex with women. Especially pretty women But that's not the same as having sex with underage women or children. That's where your lies fall apart. As of this date I'm unaware of any credible accusations of him sleeping with anyone underage, the one case where it came forward it turned out to be a hoax perpetrated by a media personality and the girl was forced to be can't and withdraw her charges. Twice. And he's never been accused of actually being involved with pedophilia which is sex with someone who hasn't hit puberty yet The more you lie the less people pay attention to the truth that they should be with regards to trump and this is something that was mentioned to the left-wing many times. Every false allegation makes people care less about the true allegations cuz they lump them all in together

I don't think you understand what's going on. Canada didn't go running anywhere. Carney did. He already had a well-established relationship with china. China went Brookfield the money that they used to finance the loan they provided to elon musk to buy twitter. Carney had already developed close ties with china's financial communities during his time working as an agent for Trudeau. When carney steps down he will be looking to retire on kickbacks and selling his access for hundreds of millions per year. He is developing those ties right now and if Canada suffers as a result that's really not his problem You need to understand the motivation before you can criticize it. The members of the liberal party are seeking to set themselves up for life and this is part of that, it is not part of doing the right thing for Canada

.Nope. And if you honestly believed you were right you would have explained how I was a liar and you can't No dear, the truth is causing you an emotional crisis today isn't it Well I do appreciate that you finally acquired a word of the day calendar, unfortunately you're still wrong And yet I'm brighter than you. I can make intelligent arguments, I can explain my thoughts, and when I'm faced with truths that I find uncomfortable I don't break down and just cry liar liar liar without any explanation or argument like you do So I'm smarter than you, I'm more articulate than you, and I'm brighter than you. So what does that make you? 😛 . Can lie to yourself but not us
