No. The big question: Why did depositors rush to pull out their money? Any bank in the world will collapse if all depositors withdrew all their money at once. That’s how banking works. SVB couldn’t just liquidate their $200B of investments in a day.

Well… both Russia and the USA are signatories, but they both rescinded their signatures. Trump pulled out because he didn’t want any US soldiers prosecuted for war crimes in Afghanistan. Personally, I think that US service people who commit war crimes should be prosecuted. We hold our soldiers to high standards and we should not protect soldiers who rape or torture civilians.

How can anyone trust a politician who is so mealy-mouthed? For years he said that the US should defend Ukraine by supplying weapons, and just as fast, he’s changed his mind. DeSantis has no moral beliefs, just an incessant quest to do or say whatever it takes to win the next election.

The International Criminal Court has just issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin for war crimes. The crimes in question are the deportation of thousands of Ukrainian children for re-education in Russia. Because Russia is not a signatory, the Court cannot have Putin arrested in Russia, but should he leave Russia for vacation, he could be. His daughter is also under this warrant, so no more shopping trips to Europe for her. Will Putin eventually be arrested and tried? No, not unless there is a government overthrow in Russia. But he will forever be known as an international criminal.

I don’t understand this at all. Ukraine is a sovereign, independent country. They are recognized by the UN and all other nations, their borders are established in five treaties signed with Russia. That is what legally makes a country a country. There was no border dispute between Russia and Ukraine. The borders were peacefully established long before Putin came into power. Ukraine posed no military threat to Russia, and the proof is that Ukraine has not been bombing Russian cities in retaliation for the invasion. This whole war is unilateral. It’s very easy to see who’s the good guy and who’s the bad guy. The GOP was strongly unified in being anti-Russian and pro-Ukraine in this conflict until Donald Trump came along.

I’m not quite following you. Are you suggesting that the CIA fed fake data to Putin which lead to the Ukraine invasion? Or just that the CIA warned Ukraine of the imminent attack? I believe the imminent attack was widely reported in the press.

Reality is that the bank failed. You invented a reason why, but you cannot answer a single question describing your answer. If what you’re saying is true, you would be able to show us the names of the failed companies and investments and how “woke” caused those companies and investments to fail. All you have is “woke bad, therefore woke caused SVB to fail”. That’s not rational at all. Do you think if you were a business school student that you could say a dumb thing like that and get a grade of D or better? You would not.

Even more importantly, this is the end of Putin’s expansionist aims. Had he taken Ukraine, the subsequent occupation of the rest of the former Soviet republics was quite likely. With his failure in Ukraine, no matter the outcome at this point… even if he completely prevails, his aims of re-taking the other former republics are very impractical. This has been precisely the goal of the US and NATO. And now NATO is far stronger and it has been enlarged. So by these measures, Putin has decisively failed.

There was no defeating America in Vietnam or Afghanistan, either. Right? There is no negotiated outcome which allows Putin to save face, because Ukraine will not give them territory. In fact, I believe the Ukrainian government’s position is that Russia must also leave the Crimea, which Russia occupied back in 2014.

Except that the two GOP front-running Presidential candidates are pro-Putin, right? And the GOP’s biggest mouthpiece, Tucker Carlson, is also pro-Putin. That’s very significant.
