You try to justify the barbarism, fanaticism, and savagery of the Palestinians today by citing a group that was nasty in the 1930s and 1940s. But by any measure, the Palestinians are worse than Irgun was and you seem to be spending a lot of time crying over their fate. And why is it guys like you always cite things from the 1940s to condemn the Jews but never do the same to condemn modern-day Japanese or Germans?

I would suggest you re-read my OP and reconsider. I am referring to the Left's hypocrisy, and the fact many of their social beliefs appear to be based largely on what's in fashion rather than principles. That includes their opposition to Nazis, which now appears based on nothing much at all since they embrace a group that has largely the same beliefs Nazis do. Rather like virtually everyone on the Left refers to the 'far right' - meaning anyone not them? The LEFT is a group whose general response to almost every social and political question can be fairly solidly predicted. The variance within that largely uniform group has been dwindling over the years to the point it's hardly worth considering these days when speaking generally (as one must) of a large group. I would say that what differentiates the people launching airstrikes is their humanity and civilization. The others are religious zealots with a medieval mentality who really shouldn't exist in this day and age. Most of them would be quite content if we could find a time machine and send them back a thousand years.

We overregulate EVERYTHING. At all levels. It isn't just a federal thing. Municipal governments have massive bureaucracies and an enormous amount of regulations governing building anything, even a shed or garage. A couple I know renovated a triplex they'd bought and the amount of forms and inspections they had to endure was unreal. No, you can't just have _A_ inspector. You need a bunch of separate inspections. And not just at the end, but as you go along. Build something new on a new plot? God help you. Not only are builders restricted in where and what they can build (greenbelts are horrible), but they have to endure years of forms, hearings and committees AFTER they've bought the land, leaving it essentially a useless drain on funds all the while. It can take ten years for a housing development to finally be approved. And the costs the municipality and province apply to each home are unreal. Land transfer fees, development charges and taxes add close to $300k to the price of every new house built in major Ontario cities. It's twice that in BC.

Israel's boot? Israel isn't going to shoot them in the head, a very real risk with Hamas. And the people there are not only dedicated, they're ideologically committed. They don't want to have to get out of Gaza and leave their charges behind just so they can say Hamas is lying. And anyway, they hate Israel, too.
