  1. Wasn't local autonomy the reason for the depletion of the cod stock?? And the closure of many local salmon hatcheries on the West Coast? Central control is not the enemy and the country is 4700 miles from coast to coast.
  2. A bit contradictory? If, as you say, "One could take your entire augment and change PP to Justin," then "If you can't see the difference now, between Justin and PP," is meaningless because, as you said in the beginning, the arguments (of PP and Justin ) are the same.
  3. Yeah, what the band or "nation" gets and is not passed down to the everyday band member is a national disgrace and they should be made to audit and validate their moneys.
  4. Yeah but, as we have seen and by the payouts the provinces and feds have had to pay, we have broken many if not most treaties... If most were kept, then why have and are the provinces and feds paying for the broken treaties? Re-writing history? Well that is the flavour of the past few years. It depends who get the most face time that gets to re-write history. Political correctness and avoidance wins The indigenous are winning, big time billions of payout dollars and yet, they still claim poverty.
  5. Cannot dispute or agree was not there so, OK Yes, there were and are agreements but as the indigenous claim, they were and are not kept. Hence, they lost and they were, by definition, basically conquered. According to todays indigenous, it never worked
  6. "Our" ancestors came here to explore new lands and when confronted, fought, conquered and won. Consultations seemingly failed.
  7. You cannot pin this on one side or the other. No one says anything lest they get called out.
  8. Well, us Canadians are not making enough babies so, the only way to get workers and tax money is to import people
  9. I am not ignoring anything. Never heard of this. All sounds like pie in the sky stuff.
  10. https://www.newyorker.com/sports/sporting-scene/how-one-swimmer-became-the-focus-of-a-debate-about-trans-athletes https://www.newsweek.com/trans-swimmer-breaking-college-records-sparks-debate-1657354
  11. Seems that way but, if I was a woman athlete and spent my life trying to be a champion and some guy cuts off his penis and takes breast enhancement drugs and sets tons of womens records in my sport.... I would be some pi$$ed
  12. That is the key. Why would women in sport support a man/woman in the sport they are competing in? https://adflegal.org/article/transgender-athletes-breaking-records-womens-sports
  13. Liberal??? The Century Initiative is "We are a diverse, non-partisan network of Canadians from the business, academic, and charitable sectors with a shared belief that, with the right approach to growth, we can enhance our economic strength and resilience at home, and our influence abroad. As a registered charity, our vision is a Canada that thinks and plans not just for today, but for future generations. Because prosperity takes planning." https://www.centuryinitiative.ca/ "The Century Initiative was founded in late-2009 as the Laurier Project Foundation by Mark Wiseman and Dominic Barton, who was the head of McKinsey & Company at the time, along with other "prominent Canadians." From your own link. Long before the Liberals were in power. Maybe a Harper initiative?? LOLJust thought to clarify what it really is. Not all things are Liberal party initiatives. Your link even identifies that it is not a Liberal thing. LOL
  14. Michael, I am not sure who resurrected that clip but it was certainly not a recent clip. May have come from pre election in 2016. That is a young Ford in that clip. Lots of people were on the Trump bandwagon before his election.
  15. Sorry Michael. Whatever you linked did not show up. Anything else you have to show. You are claiming topic drift. It was actually you that wen t in that direction. We are following your lead
  16. Well, it is you that blew the topic away just now. LOL I get you don't like Ford but being friendly with the police is not a crime and in fact, a good thing. Getting a ride in an Ontario owned aircraft is not unusual for a Premier of the Province. OPP inaction of the greenbelt scandal and convoy?? Greenbelt issue is not an OPP investigation. Convoy? The trucker debacle of several years ago? You have issue with Ford over that? What is the issue? Ford said he supports Trump? When? Where? So yes, you slid us off topic
  17. OK, my turn. You made curious statements. I had to ask. I ask because you make vague statements and comments. Michael 1. Who says they want to or need to change labour legislation? What is wrong with the labour legislation? What are you insinuating? What are you saying? The need to? Why? 2.What is dougies favourite the op? Or what does that mean? 3. So, you are conservative everywhere except when it comes to Ford? Rhetorical, no need to get into that. LOL
  18. 1. Back to work legislation?? Or what are you trying to say Michael? 2. Meh, Ford has done pretty good overall. 3. Well Michael, as I have mentioned before, I have teachers in the family and am surrounded by them as neighbours. You think they work nights...a bit bit then, they only work 9 to 3 during the day. They could stay till 5 and get that done which is what my daughter in law does. They do not work in the Summer to prep. Prep what Michael? If they are a new teacher or moved schools or districts, yes, it may take a little extra to prep but once the first is done, it is quite simple the same year in year out. As for extra curricular, well, having coached in a high school, almost all practices and games are during school hours. There may be a few evenings but, in reality, working 9 to 3 and having a few evening hours to give is not a sacrifice. I bet you work evening and weekend occasionally and put on a 8 to 5 workday. Yes Michael, it is the same old same old but, it is from the teachers union. In my time in Ontario, the teachers unions are the ones that keep on and on and on. Every contract is "about the kids" when in fact, as soon as the government caves and gives them money, they settle and it is all good.
  19. As I said in another post. No new equipment because when tasked, in this case Aid to civil Power, it comes out of the budget assigned. So, the Military has to do this and more parts and extra weapons and maintenance suffers. Don't get me wrong, this is what the Military does for Canadians, all the time, contrary to the belief of some in this thread and rightly so. They work for Canadians all the time.
  20. The statements are cut and paste from news articles. What approach? The government has sat with the union 170 times as I linked.. They did not do that all in a week. This has been going on for a very long time.
  21. No, lots of employees do not get it. COLA is generally a term used for pensions, not to annual salaries. I am not even sure buitI do not think negotiated salary contracts have COLA https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/collective-bargaining-data/wages/wages-listing-cola-month.html And yes, they are asking to have it tied to the annual salary.
  22. I think you have that wrong Michael. "Since last July, OECTA has had 28 bargaining dates. The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) has had 25." The government said they have had dozens of negotiation days already and have more scheduled. The union did not deny that. "“With respect to the offer, we've been negotiating. We've had over 170 meetings with our education unions,” Lecce said." 170 meetings and it was just about wages??? Something is not smelling good here LOL One thing the union wants is a raise and also tie it to inflation. When inflation is up, they want more. Who gets that??
