  1. When risk is involve, this comparison is very relevant. I never started the comparison, you did. Anyway, I posted that it is starting again and it seems teachers (or more specifically extremely rich unions and teachers) are using the students hostage again. Before COVID, during COVID and now again. There will never be enough money in the Education ministry to satisfy the teachers union. Also, if the teachers want more, the government will have to get the money from somewhere. Will the union let us know who does without so more teachers can be on the sunshine list?
  2. The news confuses us. Are housing builds up or down? Some say up https://financialpost.com/real-estate/housing-starts-pace-jumps-june Some say down https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/housing-starts-cool-canada-under-150949627.html
  3. Having retired and new teachers in my family, it is a constant argument why the new teacher is not working and why the retired teacher gets called to substitute almost every day. They both are not pro union stance.
  4. I have yet to hear what is being offered and more important, I have yet ot hear what the union is asking. We just hear the union leaders speeches indicating how hard done by they are and how the kids will suffer
  5. Cops and firefighters are in dangerous jobs and can be in danger any time of the day and any time of the year. If they are not in any given day, they are happy and lucky but, they are still placing themselves in situations every day. It is union number and the list identifies them as teachers. I y ou have evidence to dispute, feel free to enlighten,.
  6. 1. So Michael, you are saying using a cop and firefighter year long work is a valid comparison to that of a teacher? 2. You are wrong, there are differences in teacher pay depending on boards. https://www.jobbank.gc.ca/marketreport/wages-occupation/15904/ON 3.So, police and firefighters are less than teachers?
  7. No, spoken like a person that is tired of allowing teachers using kids as a weapon to get more money.
  8. Yeah well, firefighters are on duty 24 per day as opposed to the 9 to 3 that teachers are and work all year long and not just 170 days per year. It is even more ignorant to compare cops and firefighter that face danger all the time to a teacher sitting in a school. Yeah well, a McDonalds employee is not on the sunshine and making more then $100K per year like over half of the teachers in Ontario. https://www.cp24.com/mobile/news/ontario-has-released-its-so-called-sunshine-list-for-100k-earners-267-000-people-made-the-cut-1.6328013?cache=396
  9. Lemme see, how many teachers solve crime or put themselves in danger? Or, how many teachers put out fires and save people and property? How many cops and firefighter have nice indoor jobs year round? And both cops and firefighters work more than 170 days per year. Also, I am sure you are aware that the province gives the boards the money to operate and the board decides salary and infrastructure etc with that money. that is why there is differences in salary among the boards in Ontario. Lastly, like the saying goes, "The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else" and who get less and where do you want to cut?
  10. In case you are unaware, any river can be dammed for a hydro dam. As for what rivers, well, I do not know the names rivers of all the BC rivers or how many are in BC . Large long wires will be needed for any hydro project. You cannot just plug in to your toaster wire LOL You are also aware, or should be that hydro wires run in a cleared right of way passages You do know that more fires are caused by unattended campfires, careless smokers, lightning strikes? You have no points.
  11. His point was that he said there are lots of rivers that can be dammed. And he is right. You then went off on a rant about how long the wires would be without realizing there are already many thousands of miles of wires associated with hydro dams already.
  12. Here in Ottawa, building sites are nearly closed. Help wanted signs everywhere. Every builder has help wanted signs for all trades. Even the reno market is looking for workers. Yes, mortgage rates are an issue but, re-sale homes are flying off the market. Up from last year. They have the same mortgage issues, but are selling. I am not sure that interest rates are the problem for builders or new home buyers.
  13. Why would or should a contractor build a house when they cannot get labour and cannot guarantee sales?
  14. Here we go again. Ontario elementary, secondary teachers to hold strike votes https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ont-teachers-strike-votes-1.6936205 Already one of if not the highest paid and for sure a gold plated pension and all the benefits as well as only having to work for what? 170 days a year?? Ontario teachers making more than $100K per year more than doubled between 2020 and 2020. "The number of teachers earning $100,000 or more is at "historic highs," Sarkaria wrote, with 65,510 in 2022, up from 29,975 in 2022." https://www.cp24.com/mobile/news/ontario-has-released-its-so-called-sunshine-list-for-100k-earners-267-000-people-made-the-cut-1.6328013?cache=396
  15. Political banter, by any party, cannot be relied on, let alone believed. They all have hidden agendas and the primary one is to stay in power. We seem to have a 10 (approx) year tolerance for leaders so, Justins tenure should be up by now.
  16. They are example of saying there will be something done and nothing happened. Yes, opinions but based on events, or non events. As for the courts response, there are many ways of drafting things that make sure courts will negate it. I am a Senate hater. Serves no purpose except to delay legislation and reward political buddies.
  17. I think it is both. It is a bad deal and by who made it. Sorta like Gerald Butts making deals for Justin.
  18. OK, here: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/less-urgency-to-reform-electoral-system-after-harper-defeat-trudeau-says/article32443900/ https://canadians.org/analysis/harper-government-rejects-calls-make-voting-system-fairer/ https://www.institutbroadbent.ca/harper_government_s_leap_of_logic_to_justify_voter_suppression https://www.ourcommons.ca/content/Committee/421/ERRE/Brief/BR8454578/br-external/BoutilierRoger-e.pdf https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/electoral-reform-spells-trouble-for-stephen-harper-s-conservatives-h-bert/article_07f34997-5f11-5457-b170-9238a140c390.html ..........
  19. No, they are pissed that a non elected chief of staff for the housing minster made a deal.
  20. So, you will vote for anyone that makes an election promise of "proportional representation? Know in full well election promises are rarely kept? Knowing that every party in the past number of decades has promised election reform? And failed. Doesn't take much to pleasure you eh? LOL
  21. So, "they" is not you, the fishermen but the government?? They had to stop you because you would not do it yourselves? Why blame Pattison or Weston when they bought licences that were up for sale to everyone? You sound disgruntled that you did not get more licences. Your fault, not the fault of the guy who bought them. I only react to what you say. I don't compare anyone. I just say lobbyist do what they do and if you (and your organization) don't, that is your problem. I did not and do not know who has fishing licenses so throwing that in is a ....red herring LOL Good at what??? Certainly not good at accepting reality. Now, get your eyeball back to the topic, greenbelt....
  22. Yup, in your neighbourhood? To your whining point, there will still be lots or wires coming from them. You do know we decide where we put hydro dams too eh??
  23. If something illegal is being discussed, there are systems in place. I am quite sure you don't lobby for theft or murder LOL Well, actually, they can discuss anything but, can they get it done?
  24. Yeah, lets clear an area and build nuclear reactors. Oh wait.... there will be lots and lots of high tension wires emanating from them too. Or, lets clear acres and acres of land and put up solar panels...oh yeah, include the wires from them too. Well, wind turbines, crap, they need wires too. OK aristides, let me know when we have wireless electricity to every building in this country. You know, when you have no valid point, let alone solution, you should quit
