China's unrelenting influence campaign in Canada
ExFlyer replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
To what end does China gain anything for disrespecting Mr Chong, and already sitting MP? WeChat, a social media outlet is as full of misinformation as any of the social media sites here. "Between May 4 and 13, 2023, a coordinated network of WeChat's news accounts featured, shared and amplified a large volume of false or misleading narratives about Mr. Chong," So what is Global Affairs Canada other than Canada's way of influencing other countries to benefit Canada? "We define, shape and advance Canada’s interests and values in a complex global environment. We manage diplomatic relations, promote international trade and provide consular assistance. We lead international development, humanitarian, and peace and security assistance efforts. We also contribute to national security and the development of international law." -
Dougie, you really have no clue about what goes on outside your foxhole. Air support in the heaters Canada has been involved in has been provided buy whatever aircraft are available and for whomever needs it, including Canadas. Canada's air force supported all troops, Canadian and others with Tac Hel and Chinook transport support. Canadian CF188 do not support the navy as they are not carrier based and cannot fly out to sea (and why would they?) In Afghanistan, Canada was there in a support role to support what was going on. We were not in Command and never wanted or expected to be. Your anti Canada rhetoric is getting very old and you seem to be ashamed that you served in Canadian Uniform. I know that I am ashamed that you did.

It's official - Stephen Harper Best PM. (Village Media)
ExFlyer replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
But a name and face that Canada has voted into power for the past 3 elections so, I think it was a little more, at least more than his opposition. -
It's official - Stephen Harper Best PM. (Village Media)
ExFlyer replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Perhaps but, Harper 29 votes for best and 28 for worst. In another poll: "Justin Trudeau has been voted Canada’s worst prime minister in the past 55 years by three out of 10 respondents in a new public opinion survey from Research Co" 10? https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/justin-trudeau-is-canada-s-least-liked-prime-minister-in-55-years-a-new-opinion/article_2dba14d5-052e-5662-9048-36c07e3c4414.html I agree with Trudeau being the worst today but his dad was also considered the worst for a long time even after he quit politics. Thing is, only 6 of the 23 PM's elected were Conservative. Seems Canada was and is primarily a Liberal country. With any luck, Canada will have had enough of Trudeau and make a change next time -
No person is in line for anything anywhere anytime. If you are thinking that a person cannot change jobs or have a second career anywhere any time, you live in a sheltered place. Can we say you personally are never allowed to leave your job for a better paying one after 25 or 30 years (or less) of service? Are you saying that your skill set is not for sale to the highest bidder? Are you saying that a CRA person goes on wining and dining sessions? You are aware that that is completely illegal IAW Public Service directives? May have broken the law??? Are you insinuating that they did or did not break the law? If they did, I am quite sure they would pay the consequences and have even more reason to hire specialists. You are making it about the person, the CRA specialist and not the "game". There is no game, there is using the existing rules to evade as much tax as anyone can. Change what game? Make what more transparent? The tax rules and tax brackets are all available for anyone to see and absorb. How much more transparent can that get.
-
I can add to that and say the internal revenue or taxation people throughout the world are not the most popular department in any government. As for CRA "expanding their activities", that is conspiracy theory and wrong. The CRA has processes and procedures to work from and they do, to all taxpayers. Any changes are from the politicians by way of Bills and/or changes to the present legislation. https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/technical-information/income-tax-audit-manual-domestic-compliance-programs-branch-dcpb-01.html https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/technical-information/income-tax-audit-manual-domestic-compliance-programs-branch-dcpb-01.html

KPMG and their clientsdid not break any laws but played ball by them.... Me approving or disapproving matters not. Once again, the "the vehicles used by the seriously rich" are available for use by all. I did and responded and come to the conclusion you are jealous of those that make more then you....Mother of God I suggest to you everyone is playing the ball. As I said, envy does motivate your need for change. If you paid more tax than average, that is your issue. I have also paid lots of taxes but never more than I had to. Until you can show illegal activity and the consequences of them, you have nothing but bitterness because you are not where they are.
-
If you think CRA officials can help mega rich, and more than average rich or mid rich or normal rich you really do not understand the tax laws and laws in general. Also, if you think CRA officials do illegal things with taxpayers, you again are fishing in the wrong lake. The "Isle of Man saga" led to nothing. There was not enough to convict or to even to bring charges. You mean the "standard tax-cutting tools we are given" to all taxpayers? I do not suggest any remedies and I do not see any need to remedy any taxpayers issues for any taxpayer as there are no differences between high earners and low earners except for tax brackets.. Yes, taxing the upper 20% is exactly what we are talking about. Read the topic headline. Seems to me you are just one of those folks that are jealous of what other make.
-
Your complaint was that "No CRA official should be allowed to work for a major accounting firm afterwards. The conflict is obvious". Insinuating it was like a "legal occupation (Gameskeepers) to an illegal activity (poachers). " I am saying that you are completely wrong. A person that has special skills, any kind of skills can and should go to where the skills are compensated. Now, if you have an issue with the taxation system, well, that is a different topic. There is no one that cannot take advantage of todays tax system, rich or poor. There needs to be the will to take advantage. Be it TFSA, RRSP, RESP or any of the others that are perfectly legal. If you think you know something that will be better for everyone, well, share it EDIT: Your edit and addition after I responded to you do not help your case , if you have one. The first quote is CRA providing amnesty. Well, I suspect the CRA did not have any or enough grounds to proceed with charges so they gave up. Your second quote is from a Toronto tax lawyer "disputes with the CRA". OK, so what?? That same tax lawyer will and should fight for his clients be they rich or poor. He butters his bread on both sides LOL Your third quote is a valid statement except, some people can and will afford a lawyer and go through the process and others will not bother. Nothing new about that. It happens every day in all litigation.

The comparison is wrong. Many public officials (and corporate persons) change careers after or even before retirement. Even Military personnel go on to civilian second careers. They have skill sets that are valuable to companies and corporations. They do not go from a legal occupation (Gameskeepers) to an illegal activity (poachers). We have an incremental tax system, the richer pay more. Are you insinuating taxation is a problem? If no taxation, how would we have what we do?
-
Yup Truism - a statement that is obviously true and says nothing new or interesting. Something which you keep arguing with LOL Interest rate?? There is no focus, it was a statement of fact among a number of factual statements. You seem to not like it for some bizarre reason. Fact is fact, Truism is the truth
-
Holy cow dude!!! The tax rate is what it is. No one has to explain it to you LOL My facts are valid. What is it about the facts you don't like? That it is not on your wheelhouse?? Yeah, your obsession. With what? With the fact the top 20% of taxpayers pay more than the other 80% combined? You don't like it? You want the remaining 80% to pay more of their share?? Smoke and mirrors? That the top 20% pay more than the other 80% combined is smoke and mirrors? No Moonie, it is a fact. Are you saying that "squeaking into the top 20%" should not pay the highest rate?
-
I disagree. The Racism cry comes form all side of the political spectrum and is made worse by those that do not believe it bit are too scared to say anything lest they be smeared. All politicians and leading citizens and even normal people of all political stripes have to play along to appease the loud mouths.

Understand that this a statement is from a tribunal which has no legal standing. To declare it is against the charter of rights is an tribunal opinion and not legally binding. If it were against the charter, it would apply to all Canadians, not just military. The order to get vaccinated was to ensure that military personnel could be deployed in Canadian actions without the chance of infecting any of the Canadians it was supporting. The Military was called in to many long term care facilities and they needed to be vaccinated or they could not help. It is not a matter of blindly following orders, they were given a choice, like all civilians in this country. 407 members (out of more than 70,000) made the choice of not getting vaccinated and they resulted in either release or reduction in duties , qualifications training etc. It now sits in the hands of the Chief of Defence Staff an it will be interesting decision he will make. Make military decisions priority or succumb to the PR department. The second link is interesting as well. Why can the Military not recruit. As they said, their primary goal is diversity and that they have more recruits in some trades and none in others. They also "test" a potential recruit and determining what occupations they fit in? For sure it will be in those occupations that are short staffed as opposed to the ones the recruit would like. Oh, did I mention diversity?? They say of the 100,000 military and we all know that is an incorrect number. 80,000 at best, regular and reserve. The Military is so politically driven now , no one has interest anymore. It used to be an honourable profession and has become an arm of the political party in power, regardless of military needs. It does not need more women, more indigenous, more ethnically diverse, more sexually confused, it needs persons that want to serve as Canadian Armed Forces. It is not accepting the willing because they do not fit the formula hence, they are low in recruits.

Sometimes people just don't like each other or someone else. It is not necessarily racism, just dislike between them. It seems like some folks like to cry racism for all crimes. What is it when brown on brown or black on black or white on white or rainbow on rainbow hurt or kill each other...is is racism too??

Oh dougie...keep on keeping on. Who cares who your superiors were. If they were legends in your mind, so be it. They are and were just another soldier to most folks in the Military. Bottom line dougie, you were what you were and trying to embellish with your posts and stories only embarrasses the good ones that did what they had to without patting themselves on the back. keep on keeping. You have the last word(s), as one is never enough for you LOL)
-
Face it dougie, you were the bottom end of the line. You were not in the middle of anything, you were at the bottom of the line of everything. You can analyze, you can think about it, you can process it but in the end, you were a peon and did what you were told by your superiors. Have a good day dougie.

Yup, nothing of any consequence ever happens or happened by RCAF SAR in Canada. Yup, nothing ever comes from NDHQ...oh, except on orders for everything you have ever done LOL Yup, proof positive of your narrow mindedness. Give it up Dude LOL
-
OMG, so full of yourself you may yet explode LOL

I hope you are aware that taxes are based on total income? Not "disposable" income? I am not "projecting" anything, I am stating facts. There are 5 tax brackets. The 20% top income tax payers pay more than 80% of all income taxes and all taxpayers can take advantage of all "loopholes". It appears no one else understands your argument either LOL

I do know the operational capability and tasking is quite different between the F/A 18 US Navy carrier based aircraft and the CF 18 Canadian Air Force aircraft, even though I have never worked on or with them them. The operational capabilities of the F-18 (CF 188) are derived from and by Canadian Air Force headquarters. As a 16 year part time soldier, you try very hard to claim you know a lot about the Canadian Military operations and tactics but, you are failing.

Get over it dude. You say one thing and then another.
