I disagree, I think Carney is putting Canada first...especially over the US. I think trying to cut the apron strings is a wise move. We cannot ever cut them completely but allowing the strings to move in different directions is smart and has to happen if we want to survive. Smart move. There is no way that Canada can afford a dual fleet. Not saying we should kowtow to the US but, right now, the F35 is by far the better aircraft and regardless what Saab says, they will never bring production over here...at best, final assembly. We already have logistics support in Canada and a huge repair facility with L3 in Mirabel and avionics support by Arcfield Canada of Calgary. Shifting to the F35 is far easier and less expensive than setting up totally new operations and facilities.
