Big Difference between corporate welfare and Timmins Times newspaper or CJbN Kenora TV station LOL Besides, the media got at least $750 million plus the Google money.

I am on the top of the list of folks that is anti government funding for news media. Especially angry that they make social media pay. Does the government fund any store is they cannot sell their stuff? No. Does the government fund a company that makes a poor performing product? No If the news has a lousy product, make it better or die....or add more women for eye candy and to appease a certain market segment.

For a person that "hardly even bother to watch the news anymore.", you certainly comment alot on world and national affairs LOL I agree that the government is spending millions on Canadian news and forcing social media to spend more and the results is what, more layoffs on tv and newspapers shutting down?? But staying on subject....it is rarely women getting fired. LOL

400000 quebec workers begin 3 day strike
ExFlyer replied to Jack9000's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Ya gotta wonder. Thing is many occupations, trades and professions are clambering for workers and employees. Perhaps potential folks are looking for something that pays huge money but requires no work? Where are the workers? COVID money given to anybody and everybody seems ot have made people think, they can get money for nothing. No work? It's OK , the government will give you money. You cannot deny that all professions , workers, apprentices start at the bottom of the ladder. You cannot deny that getting an inside job with heat, air conditioning , free parking, great pensions, full medical and dental benefits and only work 170-190 days a year is not good working conditions Every job, profession, occupation, trade, employer has its idiosyncrasies and methodology. It is up to the potential employee/worker to figure that out.. Some have apprenticeships, some have internships and the employee needs to figure that out. As the old saying goes, "every man for them self". -

I did. I said no one is forcing anyone to take unpaid work. ya wann? Go ahead. Most folks on commission do. No sales, no pay. -
But what if social media does not want to pay the federal government for allowing news posting?

OK, "What about the unpaid internship". No one is forced, it is to gain experience if they want. So, if your Son wanted to, he could, if not, no one is forcing him. Do not try and make unforced anything worth anything. Choices are with the person. -
Progressive and hard news are not in the same ballpark. Women used to do the fluff stuff and now promoted to making fluff news.

Is it me or is it that news is more and more hosted, reading and commented on by women? I just finished watching Question Period and Vessy whats her name spoke with Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault and other politicians yet never put him on the spot or made him answer questions. It seems women in the news are always being nice, not putting pressure on. Whether it is CTV Question Period or CNN Upfront and The Bulletin or Fox's Fox and Friends or Outnumbered or CBS Face the Nation or PBS News and Frontline so many seem to be hosted by women. Is it because women have empathy? Is it because men are more "to the point" and that is no longer tolerated? Is it because women discuss and men talk? I miss the hard hitting, direct questioning, take no prisoners questions and news casting.

Teachers, whom I assume you are speaking of, do not and have never worked for an hourly wage. they get an annual salary. Yes, you can break it down to hourly (as high as $55.00 per hour) but remember it is only 170 - 190 days of work per year, not the 270 all (most) Canadians work. ("The average FIRST YEAR TEACHER SALARY in the Quebec, as of November 2023, is $30.37 an hour or $63168 per year." Miner and oil rig workers also work away form home in cold, wind, rain, snow etc while teachers work in their local area in climate controlled spaces. Big difference. Stupid comparison LOL -
Cannot be ignored?? Canada's defence is not ignored, we all recognize it. The problem is no Canadians are wiling to work for it. People like me and Army Guy are fewer and fewer. We made a career of service and defending Canada. Most people talk about it and think someone like me and Army Guy (and a handful of others of course) will do the sacrifice and they just hang back and complain.

I am pretty sure the electorate has nothing to do with this dilemma. I also think there is no court case regarding born male taking tit making drugs participating in female sports is going on. Interesting there are no female born converted to men participating in competitive sports? I am vehemently opposed to allowing transgender persons participating in sports in anything other than what they were born as.

Nope. If you want change, they it is up to you to vote and tell your parliamentarian to do things your way. Good luck wit that LOL They can see a fool as easily as I can and you fit that category. Posted 2 hours ago You are the worst kind of fool. You make statements and demands not knowing what you are asking or why. Boo Hoo, no one tells me everything that is going on Boo Hoo. So sad to be you LOL Know nothing but think you have some sort of right to know. Well, loser, you lose. You have no right to know, at all. Oh poor baby, you are a zero, a nobody, a fool that keeps on and on about the same thing and getting nowhere. Einstein must have been speaking of you when he said "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” LOL -

Michael, as long as the public demands, the public will get. We are where we are because that is what we asked for. Will it change in the future "quickly based on things like changing media, economy though.", all we can do is wait and see. I hope we are not talking past each other. I hope that our debate makes each of us look at things slightly differently. -

1. The unfortunate things is there is no tolerance (from the public or legislature) for imagination. They bound and sworn to do what they are directed, by the rule book. 2. Well, if doing what you are sworn and bound to do is success, then it is. 3. Michael, success is doing and accomplishing your end goal and that is to do what is expected. 4. Michael, there is no "culture of public service". They are servants by every definition of the word. Do as they are told by all, including you and officials. -
