  1. You are under the wrong impression. The public is eligible to know what it is doing as long as no personal, private , proprietary or security issues are divulged.
  2. So again: Who ever said that??? And when? And where? The impression you should be getting is much of business, public or private is non of your business. You may feel entitled to know but the fact is, you are not.
  3. Yes, that is what I am saying. For decades and decades we have played the game with drugs and we resort to making it OK to buy them, take them and no consequences for it. Shit, the cops make more arrests than any border people. And then we let them go. Is it OK to make it easier and safer to take drugs and disguise it as the fight against drugs??? No, it is not. $1.3 billion is a drop in the bucket and will not do anything. As for "Trump wanted" .....he will not stop tariffs at all. It is him asserting his power and he will not stop. We, be it Trudeau or his successor, will cave to what Trump wants. We do not have the power.
  4. Who ever said that??? And when? And where?
  5. "had a good hand in bringing me around too.".... to what?? LOL
  6. I have not, in any way "downplayed" the war on drugs. I am right and you acknowledge that billions have been spent for decades by all levels of government to combat drugs....without success. If you think you have a resolution, please inform us and it can be done. If you think "humans" will not take drugs, then it is you that is living in dreamland. Adding another $1.3 billion to the border crossing fund is going to do what?? Other than that, being pious and preaching the failure of the drug wars is nonsensical and certainly not realistic..
  7. Whoa whoa there Army Guy. Who is complaining?? I did not in any way "downplay" drugs made in Canada. What I did say is there are customers so, they will get it from the retailer, whomever they may be. Harper or Trudeau snr, Chretien, Mulroney etc etc all have never been able to curb drug use, let alone importation or manufacturing. If you somehow think this will change, you are far more naive than I expect from a person like yourself. Billions of dollars have been spent on drug interdiction and what resulted from it?? Oh yeah, instead of addiction assistance we have safe injection sites and give free drugs and allow illegal drugs to be bought and sold without consequence. We have never defended ourselves form organized crime, be it mafia and their drug dealings of asian gangs and their activities. None of this is new. Opioids are just the latest drug, before that is was opium dens, amphetamine, speed, meth, heroin. cocaine. Drugs and use or misuse of them is in human nature. I am talking Canada....the US has spent billions and is worse now than ever. So, don't preach...humans will take drugs and get them from whomever and suppliers will deliver.
  8. Cartels, be it Mexican, Venezuelan, Columbian etc are thriving in all countries of the world. The issue with drugs into Canada are minuscule when compared to getting into Florida alone. Yes, Canada can tighten the borders but really, Canada has customers for the products and we even give it away for free and provide safe places to take them. I would not jump only on the liberal....Harper had the same problems and don't do anything either. All the political leaders are now saying they will do something under the threat of Trump but Trump has a far larger issue with drug infestation. Trump is hiding his illegal alien problem with threats against Canada and supposed drug infiltration. Most of the drugs (or components of the drugs) come form China and India. We assemble the drugs right here already. In my opinion, drugs is a red herring for Trump and illegal immigrants is the real issue.
  9. Geez, I hope not LOL My point is, PP , contrary to others here, is riding on the "axe the tax" coat tails. While, as someone else has said, he has said a lot, fact is, his "axe the tax" is his over riding mantra, making him, in my mind, hiding everything else he may be saying. He has to get with this country and what he is going to do besides axing the tax. He has to speak about international affairs and how he is going heal Canada very poor reputation. Anti Trump is not going to win the election. Working with Trump has to be the platform. Like it or not, Trump has the power and he and his followers could care less about Canada. When Trudeau said he will also hit the US with tariffs, he said many things will have tariffs, including things we desperately need like fruits and veggies....even Trump saw he needs oil and reduced the tariffs on that. People booing the American anthem is hugely disrespectful; It should not have anything to do with the politics, it is their (and our) anthem, beyond politics. And yes, they booed our anthem...because we booed theirs. The Americans in general like Canadian but when we hit at their nationalism, they get pissed and it is us that will lose. They will back Trump even more.
  10. The gap between Liberal and conservatives in the polls will diminish. I think the Liberals will gain a lot of support when Trudeau steps down. I still think the conservatives will win but not with the margin they are now polling.will Problem is that for years PP is a one trick pony...he has had the "axe the tax" message and nothing else and even the liberal contenders are now saying they will also "axe the tax". PP's thunder has left the building.. PP has to get out and make folks want him as a leader for the whole country and a plan for more than just getting rid of carbon tax. He has to speak to all Canada and not preach in french while in the West.
  11. Man, you are out to lunch. You see conspiracy at every turn LOL No one owes you anything. OMG....get over yourself LOL Done with you and this discussion .... you think far too much of yourself. Fact, is, you are nothing in the scheme of things
  12. There is an auditable chain of events but, as i have said, it is proprietor to the government and bidder. Also, there is never only one person or even department that looks at the bids. Sometimes, like in majr crown projstcs, 5 departmets plus the PM staff see it. " Your fiance's girlfriend's father" ? Seriously??? that is just a rectal pluck to make....oh, no point LOL There is no "hapless voter" . Business is done this way be it public or private business. You, (if you are the hapless voter) as a voter or as a consumer or as a custoer have no right to see how the business is run. Even stock holders do not and will never see the contact bids. Only people with inane perceptions think they can know the details of the deals. Your sense of entitlement has taken you off the deep and. You are a nobody and you have no right to see details. Your MP can and they cannot even divulge details, by law . Get over yourself...you are nobody LOL "Am I getting thru to you at all" or do you truly think you are important enough to be told about proprietary business deals? I cannot get over people like you that in some way think you are deserving or entitled of proprietary and classified and priviledged information. Fact is, you are not and never will be in private enterprise or public business.LOL
  13. DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion ) is just the new acronym for what has been going on for decades. Equal employment, affirmative action, equal opportunity and on and on and on. Nothing new, just a new acronym LOL We have had racial or gender sexual orientation, religion, country of origin, and other identity and hiring quotas for as long as I can remember. You remember when women were brought into the military trades? Requirements all had to be lowered?? LOL
  14. Yes, I spent some time in the public service. I know when I was dealing with companies it was the companies that had the non disclosure clauses in their contracts and dealings. The non disclosure is to ensure and protect their competitive nature. The public service or government is legally prevented from making you aware of what you think you should know. Imagine yourself as a company bidding for a contract and having to prove you meet the requirements buy providing company sources, costs, intellectual property, production secrets etc and I, as the other competing company getting that information? How would you like that?? Conflate?? How? I say the public (or other companies) have no right to know how another company does business and their cost of doing business to win a contract. No, I believe in change but, I also believe in privacy of information. PP sometimes sound like Trump. He can say a lot until he gets in power and finds out exactly how things work
  15. Again, I do not know why you think you have the right to know about the business. You even agree and say "Good that's how it should be." Business is done in many ways, private or public and only the folks doing the business have the right to know what they are dealing with. If made public, it becomes non competitive and that would give you even more to whine about LOL Nothing backwards at all, all companies keep their dealings "secret". It is the only way they can compete. They also make sure that you, the customer or client, do not divulge what they are offering or proposing...it is their edge against other bidders and companies..
  16. I kinda agree. No where does it say that the US (or Canada) should keep supporting/funding other nations and their issues. I kinda agree that all external support and funding should be reviewed and with a fine tooth comb. There are certainly lots of waste and corruption going on especially when the money gets in country. Proof of where the funds go should be demanded and given r they get cut off. I feel the exact same about our constant funding of first nations here. If you get government funds, you need to prove where it goes and how it is spent and the boks need to be open and up for audit.
  17. I am not sure what "eminent persons of merit" means We (the colloquial we) always complain of governemtn official having no merit and that we need people that have the qualifications or meet criteria or are experts in their field and yet, we elect people with no qualifications and only because they are popular. Near as I can determine, there are almost 100 "rookie" MP's in Ottawa.
  18. The "college" has no impact on house and senate seats. As long as he has the hillbillys on his side, and it is really what districts are up for a vote, he will still be in power. He would have to really pi$$ off a lot of folks to lose too many seats. As I said, and is proven so far, he still has executive authority and power and will do as he pleases.
  19. 1. Where is it not proportionally represented?? The 2 biggest provinces already have the most representation already. What is your suggestion?? 2. Where is there lack of transparency. Some things are not divulged for very legal and security reasons. I am not sure why you think you are entitled to know everything LOL 3. What is ineffective and inefficient in the public service. The public servants only do what they can within the rules and regulations and those rules and regulations are only there because you, the public , what them. No public servant makes the rules and regulations, they are imposed by your members of parliament. If there is ineffectiveness and inefficiencies, it is you that demanded it thorough your MP's. 3. Exactly who is getting bureaucratic privilege? Making vague and unsubstantiated claims and accusations is typical of the uninformed. So, modernize what? And how? With what?
  20. Yup, that was one reason but primarily, but if you are in the West, you start your press conference in English. Imagine the outrage if he went into Quebec and did his opening monologue in English?? LOL
  21. The thing is, the US chose Trump this time , by a lot, and will continue to support him because the democrats just screwed up too badly. Americans love his lies and wlll keep supporting him. The other thing is, impeachment did not work last time and if you think it will again, I think you are imagining things. He was also charged and found guilty of 88 charges and got away with them (got his fines reduced too) . Along with 34 felony counts among others. He will not be impeached and will get away with everything, like he is now.
  22. Impeach and throw him out??? Like the last time?? He even got nailed for misconduct and yet....here he is LOL Like I said, he has enough executive power to carry on carrying on. Oh and most Americans still think tariffs are a penalty paid by the exporters and manufacturers....and no amount of proof is going to change their mind because Trump said otherwise LOL
  23. I do not think in any way that any states will be economically torpedoed by losing Canadian shoppers or trade. They will survive just nicely and won't whine nearly as much as we do. You way overestimate our importance to the US. I think this is beaten to death now LOL
