He has taken the hammer to the US bureaucracy as he promised to do. Killed programs, fired people and a lot more to come. PP's big speech today in Vancouver started off so wrong. He began and carried on with a very long diatribe...all in French. Word is, most out West turned off his news conference and he may, as a result, alienated many westerners. The West, and not just BC, is tired of the "french". Should have begun in English and then the french, especially in primarily english BC.

There have been CBC haters since the CBC came into being in 1936. When Liberals are in power, conservatives want CBC to be shut down because it is partisan. I disagree. Ford has a lot at stake in the Trump tenure. Ontario has more at stake than any other Province (by population and industry alone) and he wants to be able to show strength for the entirety of Trumps presidency. He wants assurances the Ontario people are behind him. The Liberals are campaigning on health care and getting more family doctors. The Family Doctor vending machine is empty. All the schools are full. Thing is less that 30% of those enrolled actually graduate. Then they decide where and what they want to practice. No government can tell a graduating doctor they must become a family physician. The gradates decide. "As of 2021, approximately 11,500 students were enrolled in Canadian medical schools graduating 2,900 students per year" So, Liberals, stop making it sound like doctors are a government problem. Teachers are also against Ford when in fact, since Ford took office they have gotten more pay and benefits than the Liberals and NDP before him ever got. Ontario teachers, the highest paid in North America (an maybe even the owrld).

Lets be realistic for a moment. Trudeau is sending ministers to DC for what reasons? Trump and his people are fully aware that we have a lame duck government and any promises. We will not even have a parliament to make lasting changes. Trudeau folks can make promises that will probably be erased as soon as they are out of office. Carney says he will do lots of things and we know Trumps people know he has no hope in hell of winning the election so, he is a non player. Provincial czars going to DC also have no authority to speak on behalf of Canada and that they cannot set national policies so, they are wasting time as well. PP has to be careful what he promises and says because Trump is listening. Realistically, we, in Canada, are a lame duck country until we have an election and an elected government.

The American border towns may feel it. Canadians that used to cross for shopping have slowed way down since our dollar has been tanking. We have done the boycott American products before...didn't last long. We need what they sell us.

I get what you are saying but, do you really think that Canadians cancelling their vacations and Canadians boycotting products makes a difference to the American economy?? They did OK during COVID when Canadians (and the world) stopped going. They recovered quickly. And really, we will still buy what we need, especially fruits and vegetables. The American companies and economy can pivot a lot easier and quicker than Canada
