  1. They’re actually the norm. There’s not a single Christian who doesn’t ignore most passages in the bible. Which passages they ignore is the part that varies…. most don’t care about divorce or contraception since the 60s…. abortion rights have been supported by the majority of Christians since the 80s…. more recently, many of them now have no issues with gay marriage (thank God!). Anglican churches (largest denomination in Canada) leave it up to local chapters(?) as to what they do. So some ministers think God approves of gay marriage while other ministers think it’s a sin!
  2. So then the state is killing someone when the person takes that legally obtained and government regulated shotgun and blow themselves away. You do realize that assisted suicide is the choice of the person, don’t you?
  3. So you disagree with Matthew 19:9 that divorce is adultery? Thats good news! Now , if only you’ll ignore the parts of the bible about gays the same way….
  4. The state isn’t putting people to death. That’s an asinine interpretation of the legislation. It is allowing them to choose to die with some dignity rather than in agony.
  5. The bible also is against divorce except in specific circumstances. Jesus said that divorce is adultery and adultery is forbidden in the 10 Commandments. There’s nothing in those 10 about being gay, so it seems God thinks less of divorce than He does of being gay. Matthew 19:9 And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.” You are picking and choosing which passages should apply to people. You personally don’t have an issue with divorce, therefor, people should be allowed to divorce, despite the very clear message in the bible.
  6. There is no “information” contained within the DNA molecule. There are chemical reactions. Saying there’s information is an analogy, which is a way to describe something that isn’t literally true. “His hair was a bird’s nest” is an analogy. It’s not literally true.
  7. So divorce is between 2 people and God, so the state should allow divorce. So why isn’t assisted suicide the same and the state should allow it and allow it to be an issue between a person and God?
  8. So why is divorce to be between 2 people and God, but marriage you want governed so that the state shouldn’t allow gays to marry. This seems very convenient to suit what you already believe.
  9. On the topic of divorce, you said the bible only applies to Christians and that divorce is a human right. So why is this different?
  10. Absolutely. I’m glad we’re in agreement that you can choose to please God based on your religious tenants and I can choose something else, like assisted suicide in Canada, because I’m not concerned with what your god thinks.
  11. So, I’m not bound by your bible when it comes to divorce, but I should be bound by it when it comes to assisted suicide. How do you pick and choose which should and which shouldn’t apply to the rest of society?
  12. You may want to look back at the rest of the thread where @taxme claims we just don’t know who was here first; it could’ve been white people because I wasn’t there to see it.
  13. Then why did Trump order “Operation Warp Speed” to make a vaccine? Is Trump in on the COVID hoax?
  14. Didn’t Trump create a massive program to come up with the vaccines? Warp Speed?
  15. Is that a picture of the BC Liberal (conservative) leader? It wasn’t a “lefty” who tossed the MLA from caucus.
  16. It is also a well known fact that the indigenous population predated Europeans in North America by thousands of years.
  17. You weren’t around to see John A. Macdonald. How do you know he was Canada’s first PM?
  18. I can’t think of any…. What would those benefits be?
  19. Irrelevant. The only issue is bodily autonomy. And this right takes precedence above the right to life, which is why no one can be forced to give blood to save a life or donate organs even when they’re dead.
  20. Apparently, he wants you to eat bugs. What aisle are the bugs in? I’ve never seen them available here.
  21. I thought you said Trudeau wanted to starve you…. Now that’s changed?
  22. Who said it was???? Please quote the post.
